As long as we've lived in Independence, finally are here for lunch. Have been to their "Beer Garden" in my past lifetime - but never to eat.
My husband had the pot roast dinner & I had the pork tenderloin platter. OMG - hot, good portions, really great food, fast & friendly service. My favorite was their biscuits - yummy!!! I can eat a dozen, with no problem���
We'll definitely be back again!!!
Just ate here and had Sarah as a server on the patio and it was Awesome! Best service ever. Love coming to this place!

This joint has been on our list for a few years now and we've finally made it!
I love the idea that this location has been around since the late 1890's, we love our local history!
It was hard to choose 1 thing from the menu, but I figured if burgers were their thing since the turn of the century, I'd better get a burger.
Toasted buns, extras on the side and do yourself a favor and get the sweet potato fries 🍟 (you get that sweet little rhyme for free😎)
Kids meals were a good size and good options.
Polly's Pop soda (doesn't come in the glass bottle...just fyi) still good.
Weekly specials. Drink specials.

We visited on Saturday afternoon for lunch, didn't have to wait but maybe 10min to be seated. Our server was very nice and did a great job! I tried their seasonal drink called the grinch! It was yummy and fun looking. Their broccoli cheddar soup is fantastic. Get a bowl not a cup, you will want more. We ordered a chicken fried steak (my favorite of what i tried) meat loaf dinner and I had a honey Sriracha chicken sandwich- chicken was very moist and had a nice crispy breading but the honey Sriracha didn't really standout for flavor. The place has a quaint tavern feel/look to it. I enjoyed our visit a lot, we'll come back!

This is a great place for a family meal or for a work lunch.
Great place, especially when outside seating is available. Great atmosphere, great food especially the fried chicken, we always order an extra helping of the chicken as a side dish. If you can catch the outside seating while the weather is nice, you can also catch some live entertainment while you eat.
Really cool place. Food is delicious and large portions. Prices are pre-pandemic. I got the grilled cheese with bacon sandwich on Hawaiin Bread. I wasn't expecting much but this sandwich is loaded with bacon and the fries were crisp and yummy.
What a great place to eat after spending the day at the Truman Library and Museum. The staff was wonderful and the food was fresh and delicious!! A must when you're in the area!
We were in last night with a group of 20. I called ahead and they were ready for us when we got in. We ordered from all parts of the menu. Chicken, sandwiches, burgers. It was all delicious! The service was excellent! Our food came out timely and our drinks stayed filled. The bread pudding dessert is amazing! Great experience and I for sure will come again!

Oh my gosh! This was an amazing recommendation from several people in the town of independence. It had a great atmosphere and I ordered the mac and brisket and there was so much of it I had to take some home for later and it was absolutely amazing! The others in my group all got different types of hamburgers and they seemed to be happy with their burgers also. If I didn't live so far away I would frequent this place very very often.
food was good, the servers did their best,but there were only two of them. The dining area itself was unique and interesting. If we were in the area again i wouldn't avoid it.
