🍔AMAZINGLY LOCAL🍔 This joint has been on our list for a few years now and we've finally made it! I love the idea that this location has been around since the late 1890's, we love our local history! It was hard to choose 1 thing from the menu, but I figured if burgers were their thing since the turn
We visited on Saturday afternoon for lunch, didn't have to wait but maybe 10min to be seated. Our server was very nice and did a great job! I tried their seasonal drink called the grinch! It was yummy and fun looking. Their broccoli cheddar soup is fantastic. Get a bowl not a cup, you will want mor
An outstanding experience, and definitely a place I’ll continue to eat at when I’m in the area. The service was quick and attentive. The food was outstanding. I walked our server what she recommended and she brought the chicken fried chicken. DELICIOUS. This is a great place for a family meal or
Great place, especially when outside seating is available. Great atmosphere, great food especially the fried chicken, we always order an extra helping of the chicken as a side dish. If you can catch the outside seating while the weather is nice, you can also catch some live entertainment while you e
Really cool place. Food is delicious and large portions. Prices are pre-pandemic. I got the grilled cheese with bacon sandwich on Hawaiin Bread. I wasn't expecting much but this sandwich is loaded with bacon and the fries were crisp and yummy.
What a great place to eat after spending the day at the Truman Library and Museum. The staff was wonderful and the food was fresh and delicious!! A must when you're in the area!
We were in last night with a group of 20. I called ahead and they were ready for us when we got in. We ordered from all parts of the menu. Chicken, sandwiches, burgers. It was all delicious! The service was excellent! Our food came out timely and our drinks stayed filled. The bread pudding dessert i
What a great place to eat! Excellent, friendly service! Loved the food...and the drinks. Our server, Beulah [aka Michelle] was amazing! Such a cool atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Oh my gosh! This was an amazing recommendation from several people in the town of independence. It had a great atmosphere and I ordered the mac and brisket and there was so much of it I had to take some home for later and it was absolutely amazing! The others in my group all got different types of h
food was good, the servers did their best, but there were only two of them. The dining area itself was unique and interesting. If we were in the area again i wouldn't avoid it.
Food is really good ... atmosphere is very good... Older establishment (1898) or there about so that to me says that it is a tried and true eating place ... Part of the historic downtown of Independence with its own unique history. Would definitely recommend it as good dining out experience.
This was our family’s first time visiting. We went for lunch. There was a salad bar we loved. Everything was fresh and very clean. Though not called a hot honey chicken sandwich, that’s what I had and it was arguably the best chicken I have ever had. Literally best chicken anything. My wife had
This has been a great place with good food in a unique "underground" setting; It's in the "basement" of a building on Independence Square. It was honestly a little better before the "pand"; they had a great salad bar with soups as a menu item for entree or side. I don't know that it has ever been se
Atmosphere was very cool underground vibe. We loved it. The food was comfort food, and it was great. I recommend the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes. It's very tasty. We will be back. The service was exceptional. We had great service from the moment we walked in.
The fried mushrooms were some of the best I've had. Chicken tenders were tasty. Fries needed some seasoning but were still good. A bit dark inside foe my taste, but that's just me. Service was fairly slow and there weren't many other customers there either. I'd go back again.
Cute restaurant in basement on historic Independence square. Walls are stone. Beautiful wooden bar. Home cooking food, very good. Server friendly, but busy.
Laid back lounge and bar serving comfort food and "better than grandma made" midwest and southern American classics. We went after the Veteran's Day parade crowd cleared them out of several daily specials, but everything we had was great! The Prohibition Punch was fruity and strong. My husband loved
