Kam's is a long-standing neighborhood Chinese restaurant in the Montrose area of Houston. My two boys and I have been coming here periodically for several years, and I will save this as one of the better Chinese restaurants in town. The quality of the food and preparation is in my opinion far better than PF Changs. I would not consider this a great dining experience, but, for a nice reasonably priced meal out in Chinese cuisine, this is a good choice to consider.
I visited this restaurant based on reviews, and I wasn't dissapointed. We arrived right at 5 (on a Saturday) and parking was directly behind the building and easily accessible. When they're crowded there may be a harder time finding parking nearby, as the lot is small. They have a great selection of Saké, though I stuck with a Japanese beer. It gives the feeling of a wine bar- but the bar is nestled off to the left so there's plenty of intimate seating all around. For my appetizers I had the spiced cucumber (basically as a palate cleanser) paired with a speciality dish including tofu. Great portions for Chinese cuisine. My friend had the fried rice and it was also good. Since chinese cuisine is meant to be shared I was grateful for the portions. I would definitely return, our waiter was attentive and helpful.
My favorite Chinese restaurant anywhere! Have been going since they opened...long before Zagat’s discovered them. Pay to valet as parking is limited. My two favorite appetizers are the Steamed Seafood Dumplings and the Crabmeat Cream Cheese Rolls. My only suggestion is to bring back the Shanghai Shrimp please! It was to die for!
Great, friendly staff, excellent food, good prices. My favorite thing on the menu is the sesame chicken, great place to eat lunch.
Our favorite place for made to order delicious Chinese Food. And Chinese New Year entertainment is always a nice treat!
Freshest and cleanest tasting Chinese cuisine, and the customer service is fantastic! The lunch specials come with a good amount of food and sides. I love the vegetable eggrolls. Lastly try the Great Soup, but keep in mind it's meant to be shared!
My dad and I come here sometimes. It's a great little place, with plenty of parking in the back. The food is always good quality and pretty tasty, and the environment is clean and nice. The service is kind of lax, but I've never had a serious problem with service here. It's a great place to stop if you want some casual Chinese food in the area. Kam's is a good business.
Excellent food with good prices. Got 2 entrees but could have even shared 1. They come family style where you dish the rice into your plate then the meat/vegetable dish, so it's easy to share. Service was fine but not amazing. Parking was limited but wr used the valet which was $5. Will be back.
This place is cozy and the food is great. I got here right before it closed for take-out after going to the art museum. We sat down for a quick bite and the rest to go. I was thoroughly impressed with the service I received even as we were potentially those last minute customers that restaurant employees typically hate. We finished and left before closing while other diners remained as well. I will be coming back here first chance I get to thoroughly enjoy my dining experience at this establishment due to the excellent impression they bestowed upon me.
The food was delicious, fresh and outstanding. The ONLY reason I didn’t give it a 5 star review was because of our waiter named Gregory. My mother and I had spent the entire day at St Luke’s Hospital with my uncle who is in the ICU. I saw this restaurant had great reviews and trust me the food was on point. But he was horrible! Only took our order and told me how to order... meaning to tell him first the appetizers and then the main courses. Theeeen he just grabbed my card and ran it and gave me a pen to sign. No fortune cookie with it in a cute bowl like everyone else. Other waiters brought our food, filled our drinks, and the other waiters were friendly... not Him. This waiter, Gregory, was being social and conversing with his other tables, but not us. So terrible after a long exhausting day.
