Sooo good but where was Mr meagie?

The food average price is 20.00 bucks. Large establishment.... Their salad dressing was good... There rolls are good too. Valet parking only... Wax on... Wax off lol

Tried it for the first time a few weeks ago on a Thursday for their happy hour. 1$ sake and 4$ select beers. The happy hour sushi menu it's decent and has good prices. Overall great sushi quality and good happy hour prices. Regular priced menu is a little on the high side.

Tried for the first time. Very tasty and fresh rolls! The server Silvia was friendly and gave great recommendations. Wish it was a little less expensive!

I was in the mood for some sushi, so I checked out a The Blue Fish Japanese Restaurant with Kristina N.  I've been to the one in the Museum District downtown before, but it was my first time at the Washington Avenue location.  When we arrived on a Thursday night, there was only valet parking available.  The inside had an interesting vibe, kind of dark with glowing lights.  We were seated instantly without any reservations.

I ordered the Chu Cucumber cocktail to start off.  This was composed of Tyku Soju, Tyku Superfruit Citrus Liqueur, Licor 43, fresh cucumbers, and Club Soda for $12.  This was a decent cocktail, but not worth the price tag.  We then ordered some appetizers including the Miso Soup for $2 and the Agadashi Tofu for $6.50.  This Miso Soup was typical, but the Agadashi Tofu was pretty good.  The tofu part was fried perfectly, not too crispy or soft.  The bonito flakes were a nice touch.

After looking over their Signature Rolls menu, we noticed there weren't any prices listed!  We found the prices listed on the paper portion with the names of their signature rolls.  This was a bit confusing; why not just list the prices on the main menu as well?  We saw an interesting roll listed at a whopping $25.95!  This was the Mega Lobster Roll which included 7 ounces of Maine Lobster Tail panko encrusted, asparagus, cucumber, avocado, Masago, spicy and lobster mayo, and eel sauce.  This is a ginormous roll, and they even add extra pieces of fried lobster on the side!  It was a good one-time try, but I probably wouldn't order it again.

We also ordered the typical nigiri sushi including the Yellowtail (Hamachi) for $6.95, Salmon (Sake) for $5.95, Tuna (Maguro) for $6.95, and the Fresh Water Eel (Unagi) for $6.50.  These came with two piece of fish each.  They were cut a bit longer than I'm used to and were a bit awkward to eat, but the fish was definitely fresh.

We were very stuffed by this point.  If you check-in on Yelp, they will give you a coupon for a free Tempura Ice Cream.  We couldn't possibly fit another bite, so we decided to use this offer at a different time.  Overall, I enjoyed the dinner at The Blue Fish.  The fish was fresh, although cut awkwardly, and the atmosphere was cool.  It's not a traditional Japanese restaurant, so don't expect that.  We would come again if we wanted good-quality sushi in the Washington Avenue area.

Great happy hour. Great quality. Disappointed in the cocktail selection though. Order the mini ahi tower! Sooo good! Looks tiny but order a few rolls (salmon roll was super good!) and you will be full. 2 people, two drinks, and 5 menu items and we were stuffed!

...had the tuna carpaccio with a cilantro purée, garlic-ginger vinaigrette and olive oil. They top it with sliced fresh jalapeños. Pam opted for no jalapeños on hers, while Jeff enjoyed the spice they added. Honestly it was less like carpaccio and more like a sashimi cut of tuna. The dish was very good and the flavors married nicely, not overpowering the tuna.

I came late, and the handroll happy hour deals were still happening. They were absolutely delicious and full of fish. I also had a seaweed salad and enjoyed every bite!! Happy hour is until 7pm (I think 5-7) I arrived at 9pm. I will be back for sure. The safe is great. Bring a coat, it can be cold inside.

I highly suggest trying the calamari. Much thicker cut than other places and not too much seasoning. Sushi was delish

I love The Blue Fish! I've tried a lot of sushi places but this one is my favorite spot so far. If you're ever close to Washington and are looking for great sushi, this is the place to stop! I recommend the Miami Vice and Sundae Roll. The flavors are addicting, they flow together so well! We love this place. 😍

This is one of my favorite sushi places ever! I often travel to Houston for work and The Blue Fish was recommended by a coworker. This was just earlier this year ! I’ve been back 3 times and each time it’s delicious! The sushi is fresh very flavorful. My absolute favorite menu item is the crispy Brussel sprouts. 10/10 would recommend if you like them! I cannot find them made this way anywhere else ! If you love sushi, this is the place for you!

Went here for Mother's Day with my boyfriend. I like the relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly. The manager came over and introduced himself. Our waiter, Jacob, was attentive. The food came out quickly and was superb. The lobster 🦞 roll was delicious, and the portion was large. The berry tower dessert was soooo good. The combination of berries, ice cream, custard, and crispy Wontons was to die for! Quality sushi, great location, friendly service, and free parking.

J.J. was our server on our dinner outing and just let me tell you, he was an excellent waiter! At the end of our dinner, he brought us some sweet peeled oranges. Can't wait to go back and receive the same service! Eva & Jaime.

Sushi was good, nice presentation, the waiter was very attentive and polite. We ordered a lot and the staff chose to stagger the delivery which was nice, it kept the table from being overcrowded and gave time to finish a roll or two before the next one(s) arrived and we weren't left waiting to start eating. The reason for 4 instead of 5 is I didn't like the forced valet.

Consistency! The only reason that I can’t give it 5 stars is it is not on the level of the top sushi restaurants in Houston, but it is still great! The food is always good, the service is great and it’s a nice place to be at. The rainforest roll is my favorite by far but you can’t go wrong with most options. The ahi tower appetizer is also a staple. They have something for everyone even if they don’t eat sushi. Also, if you order enough, you get it in a boat!

It was a little scary seeing it empty at dinner time on a Saturday but they sat us right away. We ordered drinks and some appetizers. We picked a bunch of rolls. The popcorn shrimp was amazingly good! I should say everything was really really good. It’s just that the shrimps were my favorite. We also got tempura veggies and they were the best fried food I’ve ever tried! Highly recommend!
