Man I wished we would have found this place at the beginning of our vacation. I probably would have eaten here every day.
My daughter got the kids chicken nuggets and they were the freshest juiciest chicken nuggets I have ever had.
I got the fried shrimp because I was needing a good quality shrimp fix being on this island and thankfully it did not disappoint at all.
I don't know what they do to those french fries, I'm sure they're not healthy, but they are some of the best french fries I've ever had in my life.
We also have the white chocolate banana pudding, it was good, however, it has fake banana flavoring in it and that is just not my thing. If it was natural pudding with bananas, that would be much better.
Overall, we loved our visit at Annie O's!
Everything we ordered was delicious. The fried chicken was amazing, moist and delicious. The pulled pork had no fat and was very flavorful. The chicken and Dumplings were delicious. The biscuits were fluffy and light and hot from the oven. All the sides were delicious also. We will definitely be back!
If you are in the mood for creative Southern cuisine, this is the place to go. The tomato pie and the fried Green Tomatoes topped with blackened shrimp were both spectacular. Nashville hot chicken was okay. The collard green side was superb.
Our little family decided to let someone else do the cooking this year. Our order was ready when we arrived, and everything was delicious!! Thank you, Annie O’s!!
We’ve been coming here for several years and it’s a hidden gem! Never very busy but the food is always excellent. The biscuits are the best I’ve had at a restaurant, second only to my mom’s! We’ve had the fried chicken (always delicious!), meatloaf (another winner) and tried the flounder (a little dry). The sides are always good - the sweet potato mash is my favorite. I just wish they had all the items on their menu - it seems everytime we come there is at least 2 or 3 items that are unavailable.
I've been wanting to try Annie O's Kitchen for a while. I'm always looking for a good place to enjoy fried chicken, and Annie O's has appeared on a few published lists of places that serve it. So, my wife and I gave it a try and we're glad we did.
We arrived for dinner at 5:00 and the restaurant was empty at that time. It got busier while we were there, and by 6:00 the place was nearly full. We were escorted to a table next to an attractive wall made with wooden produce crates from San Jose, California. We are native Southern Californians, so found these California crates intriguing. After all, San Jose is about 3,000 miles from Hilton Head Island. We wondered what the story was concerning the crates. How did they get here? Why California crates in South Carolina? Well, I did a quick Google search and discovered that Zoria Farms, the brand stamped on the crates, closed in 2008, so their stock of old crates are available for purchase online. So, mystery is solved.
Anyway, I digress. We found the interior of Annie O's to be simply but tastefully decorated with a southern "farm" feel. It was clean and pleasant. The interior is actually more appealing than the exterior. The outside is rather nondescript. But just as you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't always judge a restaurant by its exterior.
I ordered what I came for: fried chicken. It comes with a biscuit and two sides. The sides I chose were collard greens and sweet potato mashers. My wife ordered jumbo chicken strips with sweet potato mashers and homemade baked beans.
My chicken was very good. It had a beautiful crunchy exterior and the meat was cooked perfectly, done but not dried out. The chicken had a slight tangy taste to it, which I assume is from soaking in buttermilk before cooking it. The sides were all excellent. My wife really enjoyed the baked beans, and I thought that the collard greens and sweet potato mashers were both very flavorful and complimented the fried chicken perfectly. My wife ordered a lemonade and I got an unsweetened iced tea to accompany our meals. Both were very good. The lemonade was just the right balance of sweet and tart, and my iced tea was crisp and clean.
Our server was pleasant and proficient, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and my wife and I agreed that we would enjoy a return visit. Although the chicken was good, there are some other dishes I'd like to explore: meatloaf, chicken 'n dumplings, and shrimp and grits. They all sound delicious!
Visiting Hilton Head for Spring Break with my family and all 4 of us loved this place! The restaurant itself has a laid back, casual feel...southern... in the best way! The food is delicious and fresh tasting. The biscuits will have you writing home because they're so good! Our server, Kaitlyn was polite, funny, and resourceful too! A must when you're in Hilton Head!
Best meal we have had while on HHI. Our group has shrimp and grits, fried shrimp, chicken and dumplings. All were outstanding! Small place. Don’t let the outside of the building keep you away. They need to cool the place down a bit. Our experience was otherwise outstanding.
The atmosphere of the place was unique.Especially now, Christmas time, the lights and decorations are very welcoming and cozy.
Bethany was really sweet and her creations amazing.
The food was delicious, and although some people won't like to hear it, I strongly suggest the chicken liver appetizer and the hilton head white chicken. Both were fantastic.
There is entrance for handicap, enough parking spots in the lot and some huge smiles making your visit wonderful.
YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS PLACE .
