Great little restaurant in Hilo serving Hawaiian food. I had a combo of their laulau (meat cooked to perfection in a ball of taro leaves) and fried rice, which was very tasty and a good sized portion for the price. We were there with a big, noisy family party, including a few people who arrived late, but the service was able to handle us all and the food came out pretty quickly. They only had a couple of dessert options left by the time we'd finished our mains, but what they had was good. Would definitely go back again to try some of their other dishes.

Cool spot in Hilo! Family run restaurant with rich history. Grandparents were kalo (taro) farmers who came from Japan to Hawaii. The family started cooking laulau pork from the kalo leaves and now this restaurant is the legacy! They have 1lb laulau and a mix of Japanese and Hawaiian food! The desserts were very rich too! Got the ube cheesecake and chocolate Reese’s!

Great place to eat. Decent prices. Atmosphere could use some work. Would recommend to everyone.

We were seated pretty quickly even though it was a busy lunch hour. The nice waitress helped me order when I was being indecisive about which of the plates I wanted. I got the Laulau which they are famous for. The Pork Laulau melted in my mouth deliciously. The KG Fried Rice was ok not bad not great. The Mac & Potato salad was really good. I regret not having more room to order more. Good experience, 10/10 would come back.

First time eating laulau, and I think I found my new favorite food! My son and I split a laulau with fried rice because we weren't starving, but we could have easily each devoured a full 1 Lb laulau because it was so delicious. Had lilikoi delite for dessert, which was phenomenal (don't mind the presentation in the to go box...we opted to eat it right away!). Oh, and the chili water was a new thing for us; we found it quite tasty! Super helpful, attentive servers. Kuhio's Grille is a super place to grab a Hawaiian meal!

I was there last week and had the chicken cutlet and the laulau. Very delicious tho a bit salty for me. As I understand laulau is suppose to be salty. I recommend this restaurant if you are in Hilo.

Laulau combo is really good. Very generous portions. Staff is super friendly. Restaurant is kept clean. That's important to me while enjoying a meal.

Can’t beat the prices. Large portions. Seems to be a lot of locals eating here. I had a loco - without gravy. I’m sure they were shocked to their lava core. Waitresses are not overly friendly. Kinda get the job kinda deal. Soda and tea have zero refills. That should prob be explained up front. No prices for soda on the menu that I saw.

Wanted a good Mac salad and this place did not disappoint with their addition of potatoes to make a mac/potatoe salad combo. I got the Shrimp plate and it was delicious. Tarter sauce was sweeter than I have had before, but still really good. Service was excellent and the waitresses were very attentive. The food came much quicker than I expected it to.

Pretty good food, won't disappoint if you're hungry. It's more home diner than it is gourmet. Anything with gravy is a bit homogenized so have it on the side
