Tanner's Big Orange

Man this place is tuff to review. It’s old, dirty, table was sticky, mens bathroom was outside and filthy. Take this in consideration and add the hotdogs w chili that taste like sloppy joes and this place is an easy 2 star only. Then you order the orange drink. Omg. Amazing. The drink was sweet citrus refreshing and not sweet. It’s an amazing refreshing beverage. This drink gets 5 stars on its own. It’s too bad the other stuff didn’t perform like the orange drink.

What you get for $8.50. poor quality for the money. Body is not happy with me. Its pretty sad how poorly this local/private quick dining restaurant is managed. The physical infrastructure is old and probably barely passes code, quality of food is of the cheapest (red dye in hotdogs). Orange drink is simply orange drink with a little more sweetener, NO JUICE. Im rating this pretty hard bc this place has been here so long there should be less overhead than a new shop or chain, so why the low quality for standard prices?? Sure they don't get the minor discount for volume but very low overhead (probably own the property its on). My guess, multi generations trying live off profits or poor management in general. Just increase quality of food, preparation and bump the price up 15%. If not this, I don't see it lasting more than 5yrs with the new options coming in the area. This place could be as busy as a Chick-fil-A but execution needs major changes.

Don’t pay attention to the few negative reviews below because since stumbling upon this gem 2 months ago me and my wife who is the hardest to please when it comes to American food have been back over 10 times! The hotdogs fries and onion rings and sweet freaking tea are phenomenal! They could use a new coat of paint on the exterior but that’s all the negative I could say about this restaurant because even the service is stellar! Nice job Tanners

The food here is good; though not quite excellent. I tried the chili cheeseburger, Tanner dog, tater tots, and orange drink. The chili here might be the most redeeming aspect of the food as it is quite good. It makes since why this institution will continue to last, but there's no "Wow". The burger patty itself on the cheeseburger is only fine, without being especially crispy like a smash burger or hearty and thick. It's definitely better than a fast food burger however. Additionally the bottom bun was a bit soggy and not very structural. The chili and cheese on this are what make it good. The hot dog is a similar story. The Tanner dog has chili and slaw on a hot dog link. The link itself has a striking red color but a very plain flavor. It's mixed meats and not all beef. The slaw is sweet which may not be everyone's preference. Like the burger, the chili was the best element here. The tater tots were hot and crispy, and the signature orange fruit drink tasted like an orange crush mixed with creamsickle.
