The food at this restaurant inside Gaylor's resort was not only incredibly tasty and fresh but I was also really impressed with the level and quality of service. We stopped by and were totally hopeless to get a table but surprisingly got one after only 10 minutes in the middle of the holiday season. Delicious, great environment, elegant and perfect for a date. And not even that expensive. Will go back
We had a lovely experience at Zeppole with Robert as our server. We originally stopped in just for drinks, but the dinner and dessert menus were so tempting that we decided to have a little bite. I can never resist burrata, and when Robert confirmed that the burrata at Zeppole was house-made, I had to give it a try. The burrata itself was delicious, but the accompaniments are what set it apart. Fresh grapefruit segments and wedges of heirloom tomato provided the perfect acidity to compliment the creamy cheese, and grilled bread was the perfect vessel. Bacon pepperonata smeared on the bottom of the dish gave a subtle smokiness and heat.
The cocktails were also delicious. I started with the Cosmopolita; vodka, St Germain and lime. It was very refreshing and well balanced and was my favorite drink of the evening. My husband had the bourbon cocktail; the Escape from Pompeii, which had a live-smoke feature and was impressive, both visually and in flavor. We also tried the Gladiator, a rum cocktail with an interesting basil and blackberry garnish.
We went out on a limb and ordered the Spumoni dessert. Layers of pistachio, strawberry and vanilla ice creams enrobed in toasted meringue and sitting atop a thin layer of white cake. Finely diced, macerated strawberries are the perfect garnish to brighten the dish and give a stunning color. This dessert was obviously very well thought out and conceptualized and the mind behind it should be very, very proud.
All of this and more is why we highly recommend making time for Zeppole when you’re at the Gaylord Texan. However, what stood out to us the most was the service we received from Robert. Admittedly, we came in shortly before closing, which is a universal pet peeve for restaurant workers. It didn’t seem to phase Robert though, and he served us with patience, kindness and an excellent knowledge of the menu. He was a joy to chat with. He gave us excellent suggestions for other restaurants to try while we’re in Texas. In true Italian form, he also treated us to adorable little cookies at the end of our meal. He was hospitable and lovely.
If you decide to visit Zeppole at the Gaylord, do yourself a favor and ask for Robert. And while you’re at it, do us a favor: tell him that Kelly and Brandon say hello.
The food was delicious. I would definitely eat here again. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've had, and the grilled veggies were perfectly done. The steak was good, but maybe not worth the price. The carpaccio was good, and very unique! We had the dessert trio and the chocolate one was something I think I'll dream of for a while. It wasn't too sweet and the texture was perfect! It was the perfect consistency of being not too light or heavy. The strawberry ice cream one was also delicious.
I think a lot of reviews cover service. We had great service, even though it took some time. I personally don't mind waiting for food at a restaurant like this, since part of the experience to me is chatting with whoever I'm with.
All I want to say is "Thank you"! We had a reservation with Big Fish in Grapevine for an after Wedding Rehearsal dinner for 25 guests that we booked with them in March and Big Fish lost our reservation the day off. After the wedding rehearsal, I scrambled and called all around and requested a table for 25 from different restaurants while all our guests waited outside the wedding venue.
Zeppole truly saved us. I was able to get all guests a large table and we ended being 27 but still we were all seated. It was very kind and thoughtful of the manager to make things happen in 20 minutes for all of us, I am very grateful, I love this place!
Food was delicious! Service excellent! We had a table of ten. From the raw oysters, and meatball starters to the salmon and wild mushroom risotto, was excellent. The amaretto cheesecake was the most delicious cheesecake I've ever had. I will be back!
