Hokkaido Sushi & Hibachi

This is and has been my go to sushi place in Charleston ever since they opened! If you are truly looking for good sushi and not concerned for some fancy atmosphere, this is the place. The sushi always tastes very fresh, large portions of fish and not overwhelmed by too much rice. Rice is always cooked to perfection never dry. Tuna always has a beautiful deep red color. I get the sushi lunch special often and you can’t beat it! The hibachi is amazing as well. This place is truly a gem. Only word of caution is there is not much dine in space however now that the pandemic is over, they do have some table and chairs and seats at the sushi bar if you’d like to dine in. Food is always ready on time and very clean. They all work very hard. I sent my husband here immediately after I gave birth to my son at MUSC because it was the thing I craved the most!

It was a miracle to find such a delightful place to have late supper after arriving late at our hotel. Every other place was closed and locked up tight. We did not expect to find such an economically depressed area! I hope things perk up for you all soon. I know this establishment is not responsible. I sure the bums on the street, but vagrants need to be roasted to appropriately quartered, don't you think? Might encourage more and better heeled customers in the long run.

BEST TASTING HIBACHI I HAVE EVER HAD. no joke. I'm from Calgary. Canada. I live in Charleston, SC. I have lived in different provinces and in the USA I've lived in AL, TX, GA, and now SC. I apologize to one other restaurant because their HIBACHI is pretty damn Great. However, THIS place hands down...BEST shrimp and chicken HIBACHI ever!!!!

I order hibachi from Hokkaido regularly and it’s consistently my favorite take out hibachi. My go to order is the tofu hibachi with fried rice and side salad. The hibachi is enough to last two meals. The best part is the variety of vegetables in the hibachi: zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli. Plus, it’s usually ready in about 15 minutes.
