In a culinary city like Charleston it takes a lot for a restaurant to stand out above the rest, but for us, Stella's is unrivaled. Coming from two people who had never experienced Greek cuisine, Stella's went from a "let's try this out" experience to a regular comfort food staple. We've been numerous times for both brunch and dinner and have never had a bad outing. Management and staff are top notch! Our favorites list is a long one--any of the brunch bowls are a huge hit and portion size is insane (in the best way!). Appetizers are filling and delicious. Our favorites are the lamb frites (out of this world!) and the keftedes; a delicious beef/lamb combination meatball that knocked this Italian's socks off! Also, the pikelia sampler is a must-try. Everything on that plate is perfection. Thank you, Stella's! Current and future special occasions will be spent at this amazing establishment. ��
Our son asked us to go to Stella's to celebrate graduation from College of Charleston. What a treat! Our server, Ray, was fantastic, one of the best servers we've had in a while. He was attentive without hovering and had great knowledge of the menu. I've learned to trust servers when you ask their opinion on a dish and haven't been disappointed yet. I wanted the spanakopita appetizer as my meal and asked him what to pair it with. He suggested the mushroom saganaki, and it was excellent! My son loved the lamb shank and my husband enjoyed the no. 5 pasta. We all loved the grilled octopus! Stella's is now on my revisit list as well as my recommendation list! #charlestonfood # foodie
What could be better on a rainy day than comfort food! This beautifully decorated Greek restaurant is one of our favorites in Charleston. Their cocktails are unique and delicious. It’s a perfect place for sharing small plates but this visit I was alone. The moussaka is to die for and I wanted comfort food. It’s crispy top layer covering a lovely bechamel sauce, tender eggplant, and perfectly seasoned meat is my dream come true! I started with roasted beets with feta creme and lemon zest. Such a refreshing cold salad! Service is always polite and efficient. Consistently a great experience.
My husband chose to go here for lunch before heading out of town. We were the first ones in for lunch and we were seated quickly. He loved his dish, me...not so much., but I’m extremely picky with my cuisine. Service was slow, the hostess had to get our check and take payment as our server wasn’t around.
Great service, atmosphere and food. Started with cocktails. Red grapefruit and Titos were refreshing. We followed with Grilled Octopus, rack of lamb, mousaka and stuffed grape leaves. All were delicious. Finished with gelato and baklava.
Stella's had really great food. The restaurant atmosphere was so unique. Kind of like fine dining meets diner. We loved the chairs at the counter and that you get served right there alongside other guests. It was just a very unique vibe. They also have booths and tables as well. But of course the food has to be amazing too, and it was! There were so many dishes I want to go back and try. It is definitely worth checking out!
We came in for dinner not too hungry and looking for small bites, for which Stella is perfect. We ordered the grape leaves, spanakopita, the grilled eggplant dip and the beet salad with garlic along with a couple drinks (house red wine and Santorini). Overall all the food we ordered was somehow all leaning on the sour end of things, which got tiresome after the third dish.
The drinks however were absolutely excellent and I definitely recommend getting the Santorini. For dessert we got the flourless chocolate cake - this is hands down the best thing on their menu and by far the best flourless cake I have ever had. The cherry compote pairing works so so well too.
Service is attentive and helpful!
At Stella's you'll find authentic Greek cuisine in a cozy setting. We ordered the braised lamb shank and the kotopoulo, which were both delicious. The pasta that accompanied the lamb was cooked perfectly, and the portions are very generous. Be sure to take a bottle of their signature olive oil home with you! Parking is available at a deck about a block away.
I have been to Stella’s a few times and it never disappoints. The plates are always so delicious and they do a great job staying authentic to Greek cuisine. I couldn’t believe how big the pasta portions were. No one at our table could finish! My favorite dessert from here is the flourless chocolate torte. It’s unbeatable for me!
Great meal. Everything came out hot and fresh. Service was friendly although a little too fast, probably our fastest meal in Charleston. The cocktails were enjoyable and the atmosphere comfortable. Only real complaint was that our table for two was teeny-tiny so we were stacking items on top of each other. I’d suggest ordering one course at a time otherwise you’ll have to do the same. Overall we enjoyed the food and drink and would definitely go back.
Outstanding! The cocktails were all refreshing and fun twists on familiar classics and the food was remarkable. Bar service was fabulous; thanks for some killer recommendations. Can't wait to come back.
The spanakopita was some of the best I've ever had and the spreadable tzatziki was the perfect compliment. Don't miss the lamb frites, either. The seasoning was spot-on and the frites had a beautiful, chippy consistency.
Food is amazing and fresh, octopus and lamb is sensational. Atmosphere is modern yet authentic. Have to come to Stella's when in Charleston.
Went to the restaurant the day before the 4th of July and it was fantastic! There was a live, friendly atmosphere, and the server was excellent and attentive. And though there were a ton of people in the restaurant, I would have never known with the high quality of service the server provided. I have never had Greek food before, but this place definitely steps up to the plate with great food and dishes I've never had before. Definitely will go back to try more!
Most delicious food I've had in a loooong time! Lovely atmosphere for a relaxing or romantic environment. We had a large party that they kindly accommodated with our reservation. We got a lot of small plates and a few large plates to share and that is the way to go! You will want to taste everything! The cocktails were also absolutely delicious. Make reservations because they are popular! They only take reservations 2 weeks in advance
Wow!! This was probably one of the best things I ate while on our vacation. We got a bunch of appetizers and split them between my husband and I. The octopus was probably one of the best things I've eaten in my life, highly recommend. Everything we got was really good though! Our waitress was awesome and attentive. Highly highly recommend you make a reservation and make it in advance!!
