The food is very good but, I don't eat hear as much as we have in the past; prices have almost doubled. My usual is the fish plate. The cost use to be around $10 and now it is over $22! They use to have good home made tater sauce now it is "store bought"😏. Some food is kind of greasy.
The prime rib sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - 5 / 5. Sadly, the rating is docked a point due to nonexistent service during my time there. At first dealing with the service can feel like a video game quest where you have to figure out special actions in order to get the magical sandwich. Eventually though, you finish your food and you know your drink won't be refilled so you just want to pay and leave. Good luck flagging down staff to complete this action. After 10 mins of not being able to receive a check or just being able to pay, I laid down a 20 (all I had) and left. So 75% or greater tip for a non working waitress. Wouldn't take much for this to be a 5/5 experience, Pilot House.

Great but can be smoky!. We love this place because the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Great for the guys in college that want a big meal at a great price. Dark bar atmosphere with even the workers smoking behind the bar. Wish they could remodel or add on and have a non smoking area. It's definitely a "hole in the wall" joint but food is great. Twice baked potatoes are to die for!
Absolutely wonderful place. People are friendly and the food is out of this world. The place has a lot of character.
This place is amazing. Don't be fooled by the building. We chose 3 sandwiches - the Reuben, the Philly Cheese, and the Prime Rib. All 3 were delicious!
What a find!. What a dive! And I love dives. Great character. Yummy food. Favors that made my mouth smile. Prime rib sandwich. The Tank, a sandwich that was loaded with goodness. Ribs. And a brisket sandwich. All good. Only complaint - I wish they had a better choice of beers on tap.
Don't judge a book by its cover. OK the bad, I think everyone in the place smokes, might be a requirement, as they even have an ashtray in the men's room. Did an order to go, no utensils, and chili was one of the things ordered, got crackers, no spoon.
OK, the good: the food which more than makes up for any of the bad. Food is off the charts good. Now if they could just have a non-smoking section, I would be a regular when I am in town, as I think all those smokers know a good place. You can't make a bar all non-smoking, but a non-smoking section would be a nice touch, although customers are not something the bar seems to be lacking. Bet the drinks are as good as the food too....
Once your through the door.... Looks can be deceiving... What energy they don't put into the outside goes into the food.
As we're pulling into the parking lot my 3 friends were looking at me... Are you sure? But once we were in and greeted by the very friendly staff we felt like regulars. The food was great! For me the ribs were the best of everything, smoky, not too spicy, not too sweet, not too dry, not too wet. Portions are decent, I ordered a 1/2 rack but it looked like more since they were cut up and stacked. The added side of fried catfish was very tender and the breading tasty. If only they offered an added side of the brisket, oh well, next visit...
On our trip from New Orleans we were looking for some real Southern road food. We found it at the Pilot House.
Whenever we drive from Milwaukee to visit our SEMO student we eat at this Great spot.
Food and service is consistently the BEST!

This place was incredible. Definitely a favorite with locals. No glitz and glamour, just straight up fun, quality service, and wonderful food. The servers and cooks are working very hard. The whiskey pours were strong. We had ribs, salad, and their famous kabobs. The ribs truly were fall off the bone with the best sauce I've had in a long time (no chain can beat what The Pilot House has). The Kabobs were worth every penny. The seasoning and flavors on the mushrooms, red peppers, onions, and mind bending hunks of beef tenderloin were out of this world. That will be my choice everytime (only on the weekends). Coming up from Atlanta we will stop here for every visit.
They have great food! Their seasoned French fries are amazing! I mostly get the fish platter and it will definitely fill you up when you're hungry! It's a little on the expensive side, so I can't go there as often as Id like, but the food is worth it when I do get to splurge.
Went there with a friend. The food was amazing. Big portions at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Always a good crowd, but we were able to get a table immediately. Very good meal. Definitely going back
Service was fantastic, fries are crispy, onion petals and rib tip chowder all fantastic. My main complaint was the ribs, while tasty, were tough as nails. The catfish was crispy but had a slight mud taste, even for farm raised.
We camp nearby a lot since our son goes to SEMO. Been wanting to try this place. Finally did today. Amazing food!! Great friendly service, very welcoming and prices on point. We will be back for sure.

Of all the times going here we've never had a bad meal here, the service here is always good and now it's even better with our baby girl working here because the other girls come and talk to us like we're all family members here.
