I treated my boyfriend for his birthday. He is half Panamanian and I must say, it reminded him of being back home. We enjoyed the food he hasn't had since he was a teen and the food was amazing! Great service as well!
Every year, when I visit New York, from Michigan. My cousins and I ALWAYS visit Kelso Restaurant for lunch or dinner and I always purchase a dozen of Carimanolas to bring back to Michigan. The best part about being Panamanian is the culture and food!

Incredible experience at this very quaint spot. We were visiting from Toronto and walking past and decided to give it a try. We are glad we did. The service was amazing, including the chief coming over to check on our meal.
As good as the service was, the food was that much better! The oxtail is to die for. It is fall off the bone tender and the flavors just explode in your mouth.
If you are in the area do yourself a favour and step in, you will not be disappointed.
Pleasant atmosphere, great food and service. In addition, the prices are reasonable! If you want Panamanian cuisine, definitely stop by Kelso Bistro Bar and Restaurant! 5 stars in my book!
Let me start by saying, I am the number ONE fan of Kelso. I have been going there for over 8 years. The food has never disappointed me. The owner, who also cooks this delicious food is doing God's work on earth! The taste and texture is simple heavenly! But...they can use some feedback on the service. Service is not the best. I would give them a 3 star, from a 5 start rating, in service. They need to look into that, and improve it. However, as a true fan, and a Panamanian de pura cepa, I will stick around while their service improve. I am with you Kelso, en las buenas y en las malas.

Found a little of Panama in the states! If your traveling around like me. This place is a must. Exellent service and food reminded me of home (panama) . Excellent portions too!
Small Panamanian restaurant in Brooklyn. Food was traditional panamian. With some wrzt Indian spices thrown in. Place was welcoming. Unfortunately, its going out of business October 30, 2017 due to high rent.
The food is simple, made fresh and delicious. And the portions are good. All at a decent price. I'd love to visit again.
Yummy Panamanian empanadas! I hear they are closing soon. I am glad I had a chance to eat there on my visit.
