I love this place! The barbacoa taquitos melt in your mouth. Slices of heaven, I swear it. The queso fundido with chorizo is delicious fire. Original Mexican food. Mmmm! I also love where it's located. Makes me feel like I found a little treasure every time visit. There's a compa that works here, however, who's a mega slacker, and I would know because I'm one too but not when I'm at work. I forget his name but someone tell him to get on his A-game. Can't be slackin' at this job! I'll be back soon, naturally. I told that man I'll serve myself my own tacos if he's behind the counter when I come eat here, though.
I love this place! I have been coming to this location for several years and it is consistently some of the best food I have ever had. Highly recommended to anyone looking for some amazing Mexican food!
Simply great! Unlike the new, fashioned taco places that serve tacos with lots of sauce, cheese and other stuff, this place serves pure authentic tacos - meat, onion, cilantro. Salsas are available on the side. Every taco we ordered was delicious.
It is one of the best authentic Mexican street tacos. I came in with a big group, and we tried all the tacos that were on the menu, and they were all delicious. My favorite one was the Chorizo, it was really good. The hot sauce bar looked unattended until we asked them to refill, and they were nice about it to do so. The place looked ok and not so clean at the tables, but we'll the tacos were really good.
Tacos are really good but just the guy on the register who’s taking orders is a very rude with kitchen girls.
I hope the owner understand those kitchen people are who’s take care more than a cashier because they have the real teste of the food for their business. Watch out 🧐 Dec. 22-2023 8:26pm
El Taquito (Feb. 25, 2023)
Came here for a late lunch around 2 p.m. for touring Austin for a bit. Decide on this place because of some very good reviews as well as my being able to get some extra miles from a dining plan. No regrets whatsoever.
The restaurant is not easily spotted if you are traveling on the main road as it is on a side road with a little incline. There is no clear signage easily visible. I was using public transportation to get to this place, so I discovered the place after a little effort. The order taker at the counter was new and spoke little to no English. Somehow the food order was placed, and it was their special consisting of 6 taquitos.
Expecting the dish to be rolled up and fried, was surprised to see 6 small tacos on the plate instead. Did some further research and found out the word “taquito” literally means “small tacos”. It was none-the-less a pleasant surprise when I bit into them and experiencing some very good tasting grub. The huge plus is the salsa bar, consisting of various different types of salsas ranging from mild to a very impressive spicy ones. You’ve never lived till you experience the heat from the spiciest offering - a literal taste of heavenly hell. Adding squeezed lime juice on the heat only makes the item even tastier. The restaurant environment is older, but serves a very comfortable environment.
Overall, a very impressive meal, and will not hesitate to return if I travel to Austin again.
Happy Eating !!!!
This place is great. Lots of choices and the food is fast and delicious. We went and was a little confused on how to order at first, they have self serve computer screens to order. It was my first time seeing this but a employee came over and helped us out. The prices are really fair it seems like Austin has gone crazy with their taco prices but not this place. The food was fresh and the portions was great. We loved our breakfast tacos plus they have a salsa bar so you can dress them up the way you like. We ordered drinks and they were huge and had a great taste. My margarita had a red salty rim on it and was tangy very good. They have indoor seating but also have a great outdoor patio, it was really nice. They brought out our food and were super friendly. I am looking forward to heading back for some tacos. Thanks for the great food
I did a Google search for the best Nachos in Austin and El Taquito was one of the restaurants at the top of the list and it was close so I decided to give it a try.
There Nachos are fantastic! They do not just through chips on a plate and cover them with the toppings. They actually prepared their Nachos like they care about what they're doing. I highly recommend!
Best street tacos in Austin! I have tried a lot of tacos here, and these taste the most authentic compared to RGV and Progresso, MX tacos. ❤️ Also the margaritas with chamoy remind me of home! I highly recommend!
Great, authentic taco experience. We had a variety of tacos and all were excellent. My daughter, who didn't want any tacos originally, ended up eating three regular sized tacos, and loved them. I like the Gringa option and the Cristian option that both add melted cheese, making it a little more like a quesadilla. I prefer the flour tortillas but my wife had the corn tortillas with her tacos al pastor and she loved them. They came with generous portions of pineapple chunks.
Found this place on a whim. Little dive that turned out to be amazing. The service definitely is not there but the food is amazing. The homemade chicken quesadilla melts in your mouth. The Barbacoa is so tender and moist that it melts with the corn tortilla. The chips are the perfect crunch and the queso was good a bit runny but the cheese flavor did come out. The Spanish rice was seasoned just right. Overall the food was amazing the service not so delightful. Due to food I will give this place a 4.
A cute little popping Tex-Mex place. The food was good, but I feel like it was way overpriced even by Austin standards.
