Best bartenders, especially the lady who can sing! They were accommodating for my friend who wanted some custom food plate from what they had. Very friendly, great local place to hangout & talk.

Great place to watch sports, enjoy a beer and have some good bar food. Whether downstairs, or upstairs this grand old tavern has several interesting sections and televisions for keeping up with a variety of sporting events. I believe there is an area where you can drink on the second floor balcony. Our food was good and well proportioned. This place has a good feel to it, like putting on a comfortable jacket, and a cordial atmosphere.

Only rating it 5 stars because it has the most wildest haunted house story in Austin. This place used to be a brothel back in the day and some judge killed one of the women who works there and her daughter because she wouldn't marry him. Classic men in power. Go to the attic and you'll see Emily. You'll know what I'm talking about.

This is obviously a place for folks interested in college football, but we walked in, went upstairs, and asked if they'd put our on soccer game. The barman sorted it out. The football folks had their game, too. Lots and lots of TVs. Some Newcastle supporters came in, the kind of sat near, but the barman gave them their TV too. Lovely atmosphere, people friendly, good food, exceptional service, good beer. Glad I went.

Decided to come here after a couple of recommendations from family members on our visit to Austin. Our bartender, Bill, made this a truly enjoyable experience. He was friendly and knowledgeable about not only The Tavern history, but also the various beer and food offerings. He was attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty. We took his recommendation to try the white wings with Buffalo sauce and the pretzel, and we were not disappointed. Thank you very much for the friendly and inviting experience provided by Bill and for the great food recommendations! We will definitely be coming here again next time we visit Austin.

Honestly the best burger I’ve ever had! I had the brisket bbq burger and it’s not excessively saucy, the burger was cooked to perfection, and the bun was toasted and tasted like a Hawaiian roll. The wait staff was very helpful in making a choice and very attentive. The tables were clean and the booth was comfortable. Overall a phenomenal experience to say the least!

We watched the NBA finals here, there was also a UT baseball game going on. Both events had a good amount of people interested in the game so that was a plus to the atmosphere. It was a little hard to actually find a good spot to catch what we wanted though. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was good as well though it could have been a little better. The sweet potato fries were not the best, cold when they came out and not very crispy. The tex-mex burger was very good, the Philly sub was pretty good, the margaritas were pretty good.

The food...The Cadillac Burger (aka...Smash Burger) was superb!!! Delish! Thanks for a great solo lunch, Tavern!! Don't mind the barely half eaten burger...i was so hungry i couldn't wait to eat it before reviewed! 😁
