Been going here for 3 years. Great place. Good service, better than average food (for a bar), decent prices, and a good craft beer list. No pretentious nonsense. Parking is an issue but there are alternatives if you ask. Can't put my finger on why, but it all works and BSL has become my place.
Possibly the best bar in the world ever - great burger, even better beer selection, relaxed locals and super-cool staff. It's that bar you've always wanted to be your local.
Second time here, my goodness the food is still amazing! It’s a dive bar with great food, great alcohol selections, great prices, TVs everywhere to watch sports, outdoor covered seating with TVs outside, pool tables, darts, and great service. Came here with my friends. You have to try the Nashville Dry Rub on your chicken. It has a nice kick, and the honey brings in a nice sweetness. Onion Rings are really crispy. The wings are crispy and perfectly sauced. Fries were great too! They loved it here as well. This is a MUST visit.
Went here right before ACL and really enjoyed with mushroom Swiss burger! Sweet potato fries were also good. Best cheese curds I’ve ever tried!!! Cute dive bar feel with some cool peeps on the crew.
Love it, great little neighborhood bar, friendly. Hip, local, goodness. The food is delicious. The wings are $9.50 for half a pound (3-4 wings) which is too expensive, this item should be cheaper. The burgers are awesome and at a better price point.
They have a different drink special every day of the week, including the weekends, which is rare but good.
The waitresses all wear skimpy outfits, it's pretty sexy. Not quite like a Hooters, but not that different.
Pretty nice spot to watch some games. The servers were nice and put on the game we requested as transplants. I appreciate how nice they were even though they were totally swamped. The chicken tenders, tots, and onion rings were quite good. I got the roasted garlic buffalo sauce for dipping and it was really tasty. They also have an excellent beer selection. Only downside is that a lot of the tables don't have an awesome view of the TVs.
Found this on my travels through Austin and wasn't disappointed. Little hole in the wall bar that look smaller than it really is.
Food was phenomenal and they had both indoor and outdoor areas to eat and hang out. Pick up some of their cool merchandise while you are there....lol
Great little bar with a friendly staff. Cheese curds and the Black Sheep Burger were the choice of the day!!!
I went on a slow night, but I had a great time with friends!
- The staff was super fun and friendly
- Food was great (had the banh mi burger and sweet potato fries)
- Bathroom was clean
- Music was set at a reasonable level so you can still talk with the people next to you
- Bar had games you can play
- Nice beers on tap and the drink specials for Sunday were pretty good

It's a high-quality dive, if you aren't put off by the oxymoron. Good prices for a South Austin bar, and hearty portions. Excellent local, Texan, and craft beer selection, plus the cheapos. Integral part of the area.
Had one the yummiest burgers I ever had here at Black Sheep Lodge. You should definitely order cheese curds as the side for your food. With great beer on tap, lots of indoor & outdoor seats, and great staff, this is the place to have a good time with friends or alone.
This was our first stop in Austin, and what a way to start it was! Great drinks and even better food! Service was fast, and the outdoor seating was a plus. I'm still dreaming about their Hot Chicken Tenders!
Each time I’ve visited I’ve enjoyed the Chicago Dog with tots accompanied by a pint of beer.
Service at the bar is always excellent and the point of sale is tap e pay and very convenient.
One of my favorite watering holes despite the somewhat tight parking.
