Mac's Downeast Seafood

I went in at the last minute yesterday hoping to pick up a lobster roll for my husband. Seeing how full the parking lot was, I was prepared for a wait. Not at all! Fast and pleasant service all the way around. My compliments to the 3 people working Fathers Day, you handled your orders and your customers with above average service. I have grown used to hearing staff grumbling how busy they are, forgetting the customers keep them in business. Very impressed how you all handled what was a very busy day. Thank you! PS, Lobster Roll and chowder were awesome!

I loved this placed when I wanted to eat a fried seafood, but recently I was disappointed as I went with my husband last Wednesday and to my dismay it was not good as before as they have a new management. I ordered a whole belly clam dinner with sweet fried 🥔 fries.and as you look at the pictures, I cannot even see any whole belly clams at all..everything is coated but hardly see any whole belly clams. My husband call them the next day and they said that the belly clams they have is small..i just hope they tell the customers. I miss the old owner and his son as they friendly and look after the customers well and the food is quality. This whole belly clam dinner I had is a disappointment.

Convinced by reviews on reddit to go here instead of the "tourist" spots with the long lines . The signature large Clear Meat lobster roll was cold and soggy with small amount of rubbery claw meat only . The Fried Scallop was sent back because they were cold and soggy . Unapologetic they offered to make a fresh order . That next batch of scallop was just gross . Sitting in a puddle of dirty oil and barely holding on to any breading . One bite and omg soo bitter and salty . I've never in my long life had such a bad tasting piece of selfish. The Haddock chowder had no chunks of fish and undercooked potato , a sheen of seperated oil atop it . Supremely dissapointing . If the seafood in the photos from the "tourist" spots tasted just a fraction as good ad they look .... I'd gladly wait The hour or two in line next time elsewhere . MAC'S you should shut the doors and stop bringing shame to the Maine Seafood game.

Highly recommended by friends as a great place for seafood. On site/inside order of a lobster roll, clam dinner with onion rings came out swiftly. Food was fresh, hot and pleasing to the eye. We chose to sit outside at picnic tables where the attendant came out after a few minutes to ask how was our meal. "Clams are soft + tasty; lobster sweet, it's very good"! We'll return to Mac's Downeast Seafood.
