Meatball sub and onion petals were amazing. Staff was very nice and attentive, will definitely go back soon.

Cold beer & great food in W. Jefferson. One of our favorite places to eat in the high country. Excellent food prepared by the owner who is Romanian. She is very sweet and accommodating in addition to being a great cook. Cheeseburgers are really the best in town ... Best we've ever had. Uniquely seasoned and cooked perfectly on a charcoal grill. If she has her famous Romanian stuffed cabbage on the menu, be sure to try to it. It is a local favorite. Many order it in large quantities. Good choice of beers on draught. Friendly atmosphere. Great personal service.
Best burger I’ve had in years. Flavorful, juicy patty with a perfectly toasted bun. The homemade chips were exceptional. Not fancy (paper plates), not ultra trendy… but what a burger! Great music, too (classic rock). A typical pub atmosphere: relaxed, low light, cozy. Wish we didn’t live so far so could go more often.
My wife and I stopped in after some fishing and we were not disappointed to start with our server was awesome and the food was great the wings were had great spicy flavor and the black and blue burger was the best I've ever had and we were amazed how quickly our food came out we look forward to coming back the next time we are in town.
Mom and I had a fantastic lunch here recently! Burgers for both: a build-your-own and a black & blue. Delicious. Meat seasoned and flavorful, cooked well and fit on the buns perfectly. Mom requested pepper jack cheese and it was barely detectable, so the burger could have used more. We also ordered the pub chips and they were soooo good! Thin, crispy and full of flavor. We took the leftovers home and they did not become soggy or limp overnight. Delicious! We both got sweet teas and they were just right…not too sweet. Our server was very friendly and welcoming and brought our food out promptly with a smile. We enjoyed chatting with her. Great experience and we can’t wait to go back 😃
Stopped in for "Linner" my husband wanted a burger. We forgot to ask for it to be cooked medium . Even though our preference is medium the well done burger was full of flavor and moist. The onion petals and fried tomatoes were very tasty. I can't forget the delicious fried brownies we took home. So so good. We'll go back again.
I'm a chef so I'm more critical than most. I had their Ruben with sweet potato fries. The fries were acceptable but tasted more of spent oil than sweet potato. The cut was just too thin. They were cooked very well just needed to be thicker.
The Ruben (corned beef) has their homemade sauerkraut's texture was nice but overall pretty bland. Crunch and moisture were spot on. The rye toast was excellent but should be marbled rye and pumpernickel. The corned beef was exceptional exceptional. Tender, well seasoned, and hot (still steaming). The cheese was bland.
Overall I enjoyed the place and will explore more of their menu. Everyone there were very friendly and attentive. Our server engaged in conversation several times but kept it brief. We tipped 40%. I recommend this spot.
My boyfriend and I visited the town West Jefferson on Wednesday. It is a nice quaint town. There are a lot of stores to shop in. We had hamburgers at Black Jack's Pub. They were so good! They tasted like homemade burgers that had been grilled. The young girl that waited on us did not have a personality. She had black curley hair and didn't smile. If I had to guess, she seemed like she didn't like her job and it was a pain to be there. We asked for forks and a knife, she gave us plastic ware and laid them straight on the table. Please roll it up in a napkin and hand to customer or lay on napkin. She needs to be trained to be more customer service oriented, friendly, smile and speak up. Service wasn't the best, but the food made up for it.
Do some waistress training. Don't just think they know what they are doing, need more hygiene teaching.
I like my burgers as burgers and not cluttered up with cheeses, etc. So, I ordered the custom burger with a little mayo, tomato and lettuce. It was the best burger I have had in decades. The burger was moist, had some great spices in it (27 I was told), and .... it was delicious. A few days later I went back and had a second one. They really do make a great burger. Also, I got a T-shirt.
Loved the jack attack. Rueben is also a go to favorite that never let's me down. Bartender has top-notch service. Will definitely be back.
