I was waking down the street from my AirBnB actually looking for Chinese food. I stopped a young couple and they actually said none in the area but pointed out Deset which I had passed a few times.
Wonderful Chicken Tiba dish and salad.. I was in the back by the stand where they poured on the incense which I Love but many people may not enjoy the heavy smoke from the burning. I had no issue. Would definitely come back on my next trip!

My girlfriend and I came here because it was 11:00 on New Years’s Day and nowhere else was open. We absolutely loved it! The food came quick and was delicious! We got the meat combination platter for 1 and it was enough to fill us both. It was my girlfriend’s first time eating Ethiopian food and she loved it. And the staff was very friendly. Would recommend to anyone, especially for a late night meal!

Their vegetarian platter was awesome and totally hit the spot. The waitress was very tentative and friendly. I heard they have live music some nights and I am very excited to go there again. Next time i will have to bring a friend or my mom would definitely enjoy the atmosphere .

The vegetarian options at Deset do not disappoint at all. 5* for food, 3* for ambiance. While this is no luxury dining, or "cozy" spot, what this little restaurant lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in excellent food with massive flavor. There is a full bar with good prices, and a nice selection of Ethiopian beers to wash it all down with. If you're in the mood for high flavor with little flare, this is the spot for you. Will definitely be coming back.

I have a veggie combination with a fish wow its very delicious and fresh one order was enough for two persons but I eat it by myself I think the chief cook is professional and beautiful combination.
Excellent Customer service you can not compare with other Ethiopian restaurant specially Amy Desta wow I love this Restaurant even though I live in Baltimore MD but I don't mind to drive 62 miles to get this type of special food.
My Advise is to you please keep it the Standard of your Quality and Quantity including your sweet customer service.

Not only great food, but a wonderful service. I was picking up food to take to a friend who was having a rough time. The portions were incredible - we each got two meals from one meat platter (for 2). The owner is really patient and kind. All that plus yummy food, what else can you want?!

Impressive quality food delivered with unparalleled speed and exceptional service. Our server even taught us how to eat the dishes we ordered upon inquiry. It was also pleasant because it wasn't crowded during dinner hours (on Wednesday) and the bathroom was clean.

A gastronomic gem. The meats and vegetables were beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. Reminiscent of the old Adams Morgan restaurants in taste and quality, but not as pricey. Great service from the wonderful Amy! Who is also one of the chefs. Shared advice on Ethiopian cooking. Very casual. I was there w my two kids but could be date night at the hookah bar. Fun. Night. Definitely going back.

Stopped by this area to have a few drinks, waiter was very friendly and asked us if we wanted to try the tibsi (meat stew) they had, we agreed to try it and it was the best Tibsi we ever had! Even ended up ordering more because of how delicious it was. Would highly recommend to anyone in the Washington DC area looking to try Ethiopian food, the staff are very friendly and has a very welcoming atmosphere!

We were just looking for a good Ethiopian restaurant in DC because we heard it was excellent food and this restaurant did not disappoint. The food is incredible, the staff is very polite and friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming.
Pricing is reasonable, especially for the amount of food provided. I would recommend this to anyone who loves good food and feels even the littlest bit adventurous.

So tasty! We were hanging out in Brightwood with some friends who live in the neighborhood and they recommended Deset. It was some of the best Ethiopian food I've ever had! We had a great time - the family that owned the restaurant was SO nice and welcoming. We can't wait to come back soon!
