Review The Palm - Washington, D.c. - Washington DC

The Palm is one of my most favorite restaurants in Washington, DC. The service is impeccable. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is one of the most enjoyable appetizers. While I go for the steaks, the also do a mean chicken parm. Drinks are strong (which I appreciate). The donuts are a delicious dessert. The food is great, service is amazing, and as an added bonus you typically see one or more famous (or infamous) guest each visit. Highly recommend!

5's across the board. I ordered the sautéed mushrooms, and they were some of the best I have had. An earthy taste with a dab of sweetness at the end. Not overly spiced, but enough to tell that they received more than just salt and pepper. The staff were excellent with giving suggestions or answering questions. Mike Melore made the experience very memorable. He had a quick wit and oozed history about the Palm and some of the "movers and shakers" who frequent the establishment. The Palm has been a staple of the community, and Dupont Circle since 1925 and I would think that it will be around for another 100 years. Highly Recommended.

This expensive and unique restaurant is known for its quality food and famous guests. I went for happy hour (ends at 6:30). Truly a wonderful experience with strong and tasty margaritas and the best giant meatball ever.

A Washington institution where there's a good chance of running into a power broker or politico. Come for the excellent steak and fabulous cartoons of past diners that cover the walls. Fun, but the service is old school, ie slow.

I had the ahi tuna which was fantastic. It was a bit loud so hard to hear for a good conversation. The wait staff (Erin and others) were fantastic. Quite a iconic venue for its political illustrations and history.

Things started put rocky initially because we weren't greeted by anyone on the front, we went around looking for an employee. But after that, our waitress was amazing! I forgot her name, but she was a very tall female with blondish brown hair, loved her! It was our first time there and she was amazingly helpful with the menu. The oysters, steak and salad tasted amazing. It was the first steak I've ever had at a high end restaurant that WASN'T chewy!! We ordered the NY style cheesecake and chocolate cake for dessert. The cheese cake was a bit too sweet for me, but my fiance loved the chocolate cake. Really glad we decided to stop by here during our weekend stay in DC.

Just a classic, almost timeless, place to eat...meat. Steak baby. The best. Grilled and charred to perfection. Old fashioned lovely formal service for the most part. Like stepping into a time capsule. I hope this place is here forever.

First time visiting for a friends birthday..Was absolutely amazing. Reggie and the staff were attentive, knowledgeable and very personable. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Upscale dining with an old world vibe, but not stuffy and pretentious. Reggie and a staff member sang to my friend for her birthday and they were wonderful..

What a wonderful evening at The Palm. It is my first trip to DC, checking off “bucket list” items, and my wife stated that The Palm would be on my list, as I’ve never been to their locations. Absolutely no disappointment. From the minute you walk in you have top notch service. Our waiter, Mike A was the best. What a personality and true service attitude. Wife had the rib eye and spinach, and I had the filet with garlic mashed potatoes. (I’m gluten free and they have a separate GF menu which I appreciated). Between Mike, our meal and atmosphere, it was exceptional. The overall costs for drinks (huge wine & cocktail menu) and the meal were 100% in line for the experience. We shall be back to a Palm in our travels, including DC. Thank-You!

Great steakhouse to try in Washington - great atmosphere and the lobster bisque was great. The steak is definitely the winner here as expected. Great service and cocktail and perfect for a special night out

The Palm is in a class by itself with full marks for food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. A dinner here is pricey but worth it. Definitely try a steak!

The service, food, and ambiance is fantastic. We recently celebrated our anniversary at The Palm, and will dine there again for sure.

It's a classic for a reason and my pick for an old-school steakhouse experience in downtown DC. Pricey for dinner but it's got a very reasonable happy hour with always attentive and friendly staff and good deals on classic cocktails and appetizers.

The Hubby took me here for my birthday dinner a few weeks ago. I enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The food, ughhh so delicious!!!

Hosted a round table function with a menu. The tomato basil soup was delicious. Really enjoyed it. All windows in the private function space. Definitely on display. Quick service.

Was there New Years Eve and already scheming how to set aside the 6.5 hours to drive back for another celebratory meal at the Palm. Our server Chuck was the most consumate professional I have ever had the pleasure to watch work a section. Needless to say the experience was the best in my 30 years of not only being in this business, but also dining in top-drawer restaurants. I can see how the 1%'ers would pass on this, but for the rest of us, this meal is not to be missed.

Food was great but noise was very loud and service was not good. I do not want a server to hover, but our waiter was hard to find. The overall noise was loud and a nearby table was very distracting with lights from phones as they filmed the evening. There are a lot of steak places in DC, I won’t be going back to The Palm.

I visited The Palm in Washington, DC last week with a friend and colleague for lunch. As always, the service was superb and the atmosphere was convivial. I ordered the 3-course power lunch and had the Classic Caesar Salad, Ancho Chili & Espresso Rubbed New York Strip with green beans and Flourless Chocolate Cake for dessert along with a vodka rocks. My colleague had the same and both of us found everything to be excellent except that the steak was a bit fatty. That small issue will not stop me from returning and I recommend The Palm as one of my favorite restaurants.

Nice place......great food......all good things......but is the price worth it? Tough call on that one. Petite filets (9 oz) are $48.50......our tab with 1 appetizer......one salad (shared).....2 entrees.....2 desserts.......and no drinks (our wonderful friends surprised us with a bottle of champagne at the table)......$200!

Food was quite delicious but the service was uneven but mostly inattentive. We were left alone for long periods of time. Our order wasn't taken in a timely manner. Overall, we were neglected which is unacceptable at such a highly priced place. I am not a novice either at dining at high-end steakhouses or restaurants. The level of noise was acceptable most of the time. But there was a huge raucous birthday celebration. People were taking videos and it was like being in the center of a light show. All in all, particularly disappointing. As noted above, the steaks were well-prepared and tasty, However, the plates were set down but the waiter raced off without even inquiring as to whether they were cooked to our satisfaction. This was a special birthday celebration but an Incredibly disappointing experience, given the Palm's reputation. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
