Authentic and delicious. Definitely worth a trip for a nice lunch. Servings could be bigger. All your favorites, meat is grill cooked and salads are amazing. Small shop you can get Greek and Mediterranean favorites. Stop in.
The Mediterranean salad dressing is different than I have had before but it complimented the toppings we'll. It had a mustard base taste. Also, I highly recommend the Chicken Tawook. It was one of the best chicken items that I have tasted at a Mediterranean restaurant.
Paradise on a plate. Had for the first time today. I already want to go back and eat there for dinner lol. Fresh and so full of flavor. Hummus was great!
YOU MIGHT SAY I LIKE AZARS. I've been going there for over 20 years now .
Really cool hole in the wall.... First, they have the most incredible market to look around in. Every kind of unique lebanese, greek, bulgarian, spanish cheese you could want. Many different types of labné and kefir, And the BEST priced olive bar anywhere. Spices, olive oil soaps, hookahs, european candies, etc. It's way cool.
But there is a also a little restaurant side that serves great Lebanese food...kibbi, in-house rolled grape leaves, homemade hummus, and the best tabouli anywhere. My fav is the Maza platter which gives you a little of everything. It's healty fair, it's homemade, and it's delicious.
Terriffic Place for healthy dining!. We like their original location best as you get full table service. The location in Ghent is fancier inside, but the service kind of ignores you after you're served. There you order at a counter then seat yourself. Once they serve you the food, that's it. We prefer the full service model. Their home made lentil soup is the best I have ever had. I love their vegitarian dishes even though I'm not a vegitarian. They are simply THAT good. Trying them for the first time? Try the sampler platter. You get a bit of many things that way. Our family has loved this place for years now. Their grocery shop is awesome too. You'll find fresh flat breads and the finest olives. Fresh packed containers of all their terrific salads and many specialty dry and canned goods from around the Med. I just always count on getting about $50 worth of groceries as we leave. Can't help it. We always want to enjoy more of this goodness after we get home. We're originally from Pittsburgh Pa. So we're "damned Yankee's". ;-) We're not fans of greasy sugary southern cooking. Azar's makes us feel more like home where we can enjoy all the terrific ethnic cusines. We love this place and recommend it highly.
Tasty, tasty, and more tasty.... I have been to all three of the Azar's, and I will always prefer the Prescott location. The other 2, especially the new Hilltop location, cater to a higher end of clientele. This is recognized by the nicer decor. The Prescott location, looks more like a deli, and the food is much better. I always get the lamb and baba-ganoush and I am never disappointed.
Azar's Natural Foods is located on Prescott Avenue in Virginia Beach. It is very unassuming and you probably wouldn't know it existed unless someone told you about it. That's why I'm here. Azar's is a small diner style restaurant with an adjacent gourmet
Can’t wait to return. Great food! Nice selection of food. Nice place to meet up with friends. Highly recommend. We both got burgers and enjoyed every bite.
We came around noon and Friday and there were many others eating in, which was a great sign. The menu had a lot of great options, many vegan and gf. The gyro was great, the garlic dip was wonderful with their crispy fries ( that somehow weren’t too oily and maybe moo baked), the kebabs were flavorful and delicious! The house made dressing was a great vinaigrette. But, the desserts!! Both baklava and the ugly ducking were incredible.
This is definitely my new favorite restaurant… Amy was the BEST server, she made great recommendations and everything here was amazing!! Best Mediterranean food since I left Greece.
We were in the mood for Mediterranean food for dinner and went through a long list of choices in the area on Google. We’re so glad we picked this place! It’s a gem! The food was great, the service was amazing, the ambience was just perfect! The chicken tawook was a little bland, and the yogurt cucumber soup was pretty much tatziki in a huge bowl with a bunch of fresh veggies - so a little too much to have as a soup, unless you like things like that. But eaten together, it was a great pair! The gyro platter and the Mediterranean pizza were both very good! The appetizer sampler was amazing. We got the baba ghanouj, tatziki, and tabbouleh with pita chips. The best Mediterranean food we’ve ever tried - and we’ve tried several! It’s part market and part restaurant. You have to walk through the little market to get to the restaurant side. But their products in the market also look really good! We’d be glad to return when we come back to visit!
Got three gyros they were awesome hadn't eaten all day
Came here for lunch at the recommendation of a colleague. I was pleasantly surprised at the food offered and the prices. I ordered a lunch combo with the roasted eggplant wrap and lentil soup. Wait time was fine and the food was extremely good. My wrap was flavorful and the perfect size for lunch. The lentil soup tasted great and had large chunks of veggies included which I loved. Out the door at $14.50 + tip. You should make plans to go here.
Delicious food. Coffee was so authentic tasting. Absolutely delightful experience. Staff is super friendly as well. Just a remark on pita. I wish it was fresh
I was good. Granted the item I got this day was not very flavorful. I anticipateed the meat would have more flavors, with strong middle eastern spices. Jam packed with flavor. It was not that. Flavors should be bold.
Excellent, fast and friendly service. The food was very good: great flavor, good (but not overly large) portions, came out promptly and still hot. Prices were reasonable, and the menu had a good selection of Eastern Mediterranean foods. Will definitely come back.
If you haven't tried here yet, here is a suggestion that you do. My wife and I have never had bad service, food, or too loud of an atmosphere due to the restaurant itself. The "My Big Fat Greek" burger was fantastic and huge! If you're into appetizers, you should also try the Mediterranean Garlic bread. The flavor in every bite was better than Texas Toast!
