This restaurant has so much potential. It has lots of space with genuine Italian food and lots of flavor. The wall murals were beautiful!!! So sad to see what I believe was an iconic restuarant years gone by. Service, although was with a genuine heart, had big misses. Sorry; but true. The whole upstairs I'm sure had lots of history but unused. It needs a good revamping, better management & advertising.
My family and I have been here every year for the better part of a decade and I am very satisfied with my experience. We always get the pizza while we're here and it is phenomenal. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is one that invites family and friends and has me coming back every year. I recommend the greek salad and the Godmother pizza. We will definitely continue to come back here for years to come.
Best food on my vacation. Large portions. Good food. Friendly staff. The waitress while no one else was really there. Did come back 3 times to ask if we were ready. Though some may take this as being rushed I take it as a sign of her not wanting to make people have to wait longer than they have to. Sort of like you can't win for losing situation. The tip is a tip. There is a sign that says there is that % as well as above the cash register. If you don't want to pay it you could simply take out or eat somewhere else.
Pizza was awesome! Our server was exceptional. Wait times were horrible, but I expected that being peak season at the beach. Also I think they should tell you before ordering they add 18% gratuity to your bill without asking. This should NOT be allowed unless you have a party of 5 or more. They could post something on the tables or menus.
A true family business. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly by a older grandmotherly lady who made us feel like she was having us into her home. The staff is equally friendly. The decor is old world cafe but tastefully done. The food is excellent and the prices fair. Have been here before and am never disappointed. A must visit in Virginia Beach for really authentic Italian food.

My girlfriend and I came here for an early dinner after it started raining on the beach. Came in and was greeted by our waitress and seated. Really love the look of the place, especially the warm feeling it gave me as soon as we entered. We had the spinach dip as an appetizer and the Godfather pizza. Absolutely amazing food quality. Definitely coming back here again, especially when family visits. Would be happier if I could put the gratuity in the check myself and not being automatic. That's really my only complaint.
We went here just the other night and it was the best dining experience we have had in ages. It's an old building but it's well maintained and very clean. The food was phenomenal and the drinks we had were strong and well made, but the thing that really won us over was our server Antonio. He was charming, funny, and attentive to our every need. I would definitely recommend Giovanni's to anyone visiting Virginia Beach.
We stop here every time we visit from western NC. At least 1 time a year for the last 8 years. Pizza is great, drinks are strong & the service is always great! They never disappoint..yes they do add their own gratuity but there's a lot of people out there that do not tip, whether the service is great or not. Can't blame them for that...
We all shared a pizza the first night and agreed that we would make a point of another visit before we left.
Second visit we ordered 4 different meals and shared, all so good, could not decide which was best.
Our server, Jakov, was so attentive and personal, a very memorable evening. Highly recommend.
Hopped in here during our brief visit to VA Beach, in late August, for lunch. We both had philly cheesesteaks and fries. All was very fresh, tasty and delicious. The sub bread was particularly good, though the subs were a bit small.
