Jeans Cottage is the best place for delicious homecooked steak meal. The perfect mom and pop restaurant where everyone is treated like family and like a family meal, you'll never leave hungry.
Whats not to love?! Clean as a whistle, such warm kind yet professional staff, Delicious food. Has been such a nice dinner out for a very long time. All the courses that a person enjoys at an affordable price ! Very special place, food, staff!
Love the steak. I was introduced to Jean's Cottage Inn about 3 years ago. Since then I have been there tens of times. 16 ounce steak is my favorite with a full side of french fries and cottage cheese and peaches. Fresh food in a friendly enviornment.
The First Bite. First, you are greeted by kindness and a smile (and this is no generic run of the mill customer service, this is a genuine heart felt greeting). As you look over your menu you start to feel the comfortable, relaxing atmosphere that Jean's Cottage Inn has, at this point you realize that all your troubles were left at the door. But the best is yet to come. Your food arrives and whether it be a T Bone, Rib, Top Sirloin, or a classic American cheese burger, you are in for a real treat. The first bite unleashes an explosion of flavor onto you taste buds, the remarkable taste is partly due to the Decio's seasoning, which Johnny's doesn't even hold a candle too. Then after you are done, the part most people worry about the most, the check however once you see it you know you have struck gold. All the food and not to mention how delicious it was is amazingly affordable. Surely this restaurant embodies all that an American Steak House should be. And when all is said and done you know you wil be back.
Great Food. I visit Yakima and Union Gap once each year and my first stop after the hotel is Jean's Cottage Inn. I have been going there for over 15 years and will continue every chance I get. I would also like to know how to order their steak seasoning. I buy one every visit, but it does not last me the year and I would like to have it available all the time. Thanks for a great eating experience.
Cheap but very good steak. My friend recommend this to us and we finally tried it. We love it. Big portions (love the t-bone steak) and burgers. The only downside... its close on the weekends. Too bad, but food is really great and service as well.
The hamburger and steaks were the best I've ever ha
A local landmark.. There are those restaurants out there in which the name invokes certain images. Sometimes these images are true. Nearly every restaurant I have eaten at that had "cottage" in the name was usually a cozy place, with basic, solid, well prepared food that satisfied without blowing a hole in your wallet. Jean's is no different.
Jean's Cottage Inn is one of those unique anomalies in the restaurant business. Family owned and operated, as old as the hills that surround the Valley, nobody can remember when they weren't a local staple, a landmark of sorts. The food has remained the same for as long as they have been open.
Jean's is a meat & potatoes kind of place. Quality steaks, not necessarily corn fed Iowa beef, but nicely done and tasty. Burgers too. Solid portions, enough to fill you up but not so large that you are bloated or need a huge tray to take your remainder home. Service is fast and efficient, although not super bubbly. That is good because you are left in peace to eat and converse.
Interior décor is somewhere between 70s, 80s and 90s, with wicker lamp shades and dark paneling. A gas log in a round fire pit sits in the center of the dining room, surrounded by a waitress station of sorts.
And when you are done eating your bill is rung up on an original cash register. They happily take plastic, but this place makes you reminiscent of using cash to pay for a meal, and you can just about afford to also.
It's a plate full. When it takes two plates to bring you a steak and some fries, you know your getting your money's worth. Nice staff good home cooking.
A true hidden gem of Yakima. You'll be happily surprised to learn this Inn is more like a steak house with a breakfast menu. The staff is friendly, the cooks are efficient, and the special of the day is usually what you wanted before you even knew you wanted it. They have their own signature seasoning and the meat comes from a local butcher shop. If you're looking for great prices, generous portions, and have an unrequited love for gravy, don't miss the chance to stop in. Family owned and operated since 1946, and they still have the register to prove it.

If you are looking some good home cooked meals, then this is the place. Very reasonably priced and large servings, you will not be dissapotined. Plenty of staff working so you always have a full cup. One of the best places to eat in Yakima / Union Gap!
BACKSTORY:
My Peterbilt broke down. Got a hotel at Best Western. Asked the staff at the Dealership where I could get a good steak outside of the prices at Outback. The gentleman referred me to Jeans Cottage Inn
MY VISIT:
As soon as I walked in I was greeted & seated. The energy here is Awesome and the girls who bus, Take orders and serve all work together in a mind blowing fashion.
I ordered the 16 oz t-bone steak. The potatoes were perfectly soft and mouthwatering. My steak was the mouth melting medium rare.
This spot gets 5 stars from me for these reason
1. Hospitality (cute friendly girls)
2. Cleanliness (which is next to Godliness)
3. Portion sizes (it could feed small village)
4. Pricing ( money left over for a pk of smokes)
5. Ambience (the small mom & pop feel)
I'm from Los Angeles and this is why I truck drive. To find and frequent these hidden Gems 💎. Yes, I will be back
I need to try that deep fried French toast 😋
Great food at a great price, great service, great atmosphere, I've eaten pretty much everything here and it's all amazing.
Ok, is there anyone in town who doesn't know about Jean's Cottage?? Maybe new in town, or never tried, although this restaurant is a landmark, as far as I'm concerned!! Let's start with the wait staff, just awesome people, who can't do enough for you!! I had their turkey melt, with swiss, nice thick cut turkey mayonnaise a plate full of the best fries as you can see in the picture, delicious!!! 😋 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved it there!!!! A young staff with an old Town vibe, felt good. Steaks were cooked to perfection, with no sauce needed. You may even go as far as saying it's Yakima's must see classic meal spot. 👌
This Place is great place to eat, and I went on a whim..Upon arrival I was seated promptly by a young blonde gentleman and then my waitress who was a nice young lady named Brenna. She was spot on with everything, and she made sure my steak was cooked to my liking. I also had another young lady who made sure my drink was always topped off as well. To make things even better T-bone steak is my favorite cut and it was super delicious and I almost ordered a second one….seriously!!. I also took a couple to go orders as well because I wanted to try their burger and salad. The prices can’t be beat and the atmosphere was nostalgic. I absolutely loved it and will be back.. God Bless and much success to this business. A+++ all the way around.
