It had been a while since I was last here, but the food is always memorable. This isn't Sonoran style Mexican food but it does span a wider variety of flavors from Mexico.
I often order the chef's plate, which is three items selected by the chef. This allows me to try things I might not order as a single dish.
Today there was a pork , beef, sweet potato and a wonderful squash soup. Everything was fresh and high quality ingredients.
The plates are beautiful and the service makes you feel like home. There's a good reason why this place gets high reviews.
A delightful, small business in the heart of downtown with really tasty, authentic food. I got the chef’s special (as did my friend), and we were both given large plates of many different offerings. Both plates were different as well.
It was all so tasty! The homemade lemonade, the pastries, the molé, really remarkable across the board!
Unique and limited hours but worth planning when to go.
Other reviews mention cash only but they do accept cards if needed (cash preferred, says the sign)
Amazing!! Super friendly and helpful service, amazing food. I tried the chef’s plate and cleaned my plate. It was all so good. The star of my plate was the chicken mole. I have never liked mole, but this one was sooooo good- the chocolate flavor wasn’t as overwhelming as some places.
We had two Surprise Plates as part of the Sonoran Restaurant Week Special. So good! The Poblano Soup and Mole and Chipotle tacos were my favorites.
Had the pork plate and the food was perfect. Rice had great flavor and the pork was delicious. It had a slight kick but everything we ate had perfect flavoring!!! Next time I will try the surprise plate option...
Wow, just wow. Everything here is so so so wonderful. If you like Mexican food, you absolutely MUST come here. It is beyond amazing. The owner is the kindest most sweet person and I highly recommend you visit.
The food tastes like “mom’s home cooked meal”. The flavors are rich and fresh! My favorite was the sweet potato carrot soup. The best part about this place is the service. The ladies here are so kind and personable and even better, food comes out fast. 10/10 would recommend coming here.
Fantastic! I can't write enough about how incredible the food is, the vibe feels like home and the staff (owners!) know everyone by name. We are travelling from Ontario Canada and were blown away by the food and accommodations to our dietary restrictions. I highly suggest you order the surprise player and don't skip the coffee (seriously!).
I got the veggie chiles rellenos with a side of rice and potatoes. I cleared my plate. The salsa was heaven and I wish I had a second stomach so I could have eaten it again. The atmosphere is clean and feels like home. Great place to get gifts and there is even a pastry selection. This is a happy place that makes really good food. Menu was on a chalk board as well so it looks like their menu changes which is super exciting. I will be back here for sure. -Forever Customer
Best Mexican restaurant in Tucson!! Don’t waste your time going to el charro cafe or Guadalajara.. this place takes the cake on delicious food! 1000% must and you have to hug the lovely owner when you leave. She’s a Saint.
