this place gets everything right. First the building looks like a nice southern roadhouse, the interior is decorated with license plates, old americana stuff like classic Tonka trucks and farming swag and there is always old country music playing in the background. The portions are huge, the ribs fall off the bone, the sausage is delicious, the catfish is unique but fantastic. The pulled pork is tender and bursting with flavor and they have every side you could imagine. I am a huge fan of their mac n cheese, fried okra and greens. I have also heard great things about their beans. There are two drinks that pair perfect with BBQ, that is beer and sweet tea. Hanks has both of those and their sweat tea is fantastic. Since moving to FL 7 years ago I have become obsessed with BBQ. Out of all the great options in Tampa, and there are many; Holy Hog, Wholly Smokes, Mission, Jazzy's, Al's, BBQ King and Jimbo's, I would have to say Hank's is the best. Right up there, if not better than Al's in Ybor and First Choice in Brandon.
I got the Swamp Basket and hands down the best Gator I've had in a long time, great atmosphere, good food sweetest staff a must try. Once you try it you will become a regular, and the peach cobbler was a great ending. The next great baker is working there �
Delicious and fresh good ole home cooking!! The fish was definitely fried in new oil and seasoned well. The collard greens were the BEST!!!! My husband enjoyed his brisket, grits and the collards as well.
This place was AMAZING!!!! There was a school field trip there on the day we went and at first we were like, oh my! We'll never get served! BUT WE DID AND QUICKLY!!!! The students were actually the best behaved kids I'd encountered in a very long time!!!! The staff here were FANTASTIC!!!! They served everyone quickly and with a smile! The kitchen staff was ON IT!! Because every bit of food came out so fast and it was all hot!! The food was absolutely amazing!!!! I had the catfish, and my husband had the 3 meat combo....its a little pricy, BUT WELL WORTH IT!!!! That is the best food I've had in a WHILE down here!!!! I honestly cannot begin to tell you how good everything was!! We will ABSOLUTELY be back when we're in the area!!!
Best catfish I've ever tasted! It was perfection, and the hushpuppies were so good.The service is top-notch. If you are in the area, you definitely need to try it.
We had three meats; sausage, ribs & fried catfish. Two sides; fried orka & fried green tomatoes. Everything was great.
The BBQ sauces were all tasty & delicious. I really enjoyed both the spicy & the Carolina gold.
Got the banana pudding & peach cobbler for dessert, yummy. I can't wait to come back next time & try all the other items!
The people, service, food, atmosphere all great. Catfish, collards, hush puppies, black-eyed peas, and tea all phenomenal. Enjoyed the visit!
I had just landed in Tampa and was told about the delicious food and nice portions they give you. The customer service was excellent as well and the prices or not to expensive. I will go there every time I visit.
This restaurant is a southern gem. The decor is barnish and the food is delicious. The collard greens are just grandma good. You will savor every drop and then sop up the juice. Green beans, same. Catfish was great and hush puppies brought back memories. Oh so good!!!! Can't wait to go back.
This is an AWESOME BBQ spot! Was visiting in Tampa from Atlanta and the people I was staying with told me that I needed to go check out Hank’s and I’m so glad I did! I got a gator cheesesteak and a pound of pulled pork to bring back home. The hospitality was OUTSTANDING as I was treated to samples of many of their items (all of which were SOOOOO GOOD) as I waited for my food and everyone working there was extremely nice and pleasant! My stop at Hank’s was a truly enjoyable experience and I will be going back there when I go back to Tampa! If you’re ever in the area and looking for a good place to go eat, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hank’s!!!! 👍🏼😁
We love BBQ and north Tampa has a number of good choices, but none have Fried Catfish too. We tried a couple of their 2 meat combo’s and enjoyed them both. I had catfish and ribs with slaw and Fried Green Tomatoes. They have green goddess type sauce to dip the tomatoes, it was delicious. Ribs were tender and moist, the catfish crispy coating and fresh tasting. The wife had Chicken and Fried Shrimp with Black Eyes Peas. Everything was very tasty.
Fast service, friendly staff, and the food was delicious. We tried catfish, Mac & cheese, cornbread, fries, fried pickles, baked beans, & corn nuggets. Will definitely be back!!
