The meats are sensational. The smoked flavor and seasonings are to die for. We are from KC with the most famous BBQ around and this was up in the top rankings. I had the city smokestack and subbed the pork belly for Turkey. I was shocked at how the flavor went all the way through the meat not just the sides/edges like a lot of BBQ places. I don’t know which was my favorite turkey, brisket, or pulled pork. It was all so tender(melt in you mouth) with so much flavor no sauce needed. I’m not much of a sausage lover so that was my least favorite but the rest of the family enjoyed it. You get so much meat you can take half of it home but it’s so good you catch yourself overstuffing with not much to take home. We also had the beans and cheesy corn. That I didn’t much care for. I like my beans to have a noticeable bbq sauce to them. The cheesy corn just wasn’t cheesy enough for me or what I’m used to getting at other places. The meat is so good it doesn’t matter
I've had brisket at some of the best barbecue restaurants in the country and have smoked many of them myself. City Butcher is right up there with the best. Perfectly smoked. Tender. Juicy. Excellent bark.
I almost forgot to try the sauce (good 'cue doesn't need sauce) but remembered before I took the last bite and the mustard sauce was incredible.
My only very minor complaint was that the pieces were sliced too thick. Some of the pieces were 1/2" or wider. I only got about 6 slices in the pound I ordered, so it felt a bit skimpy divided between three people. I know it's still the same amount, but the thicker slices disappear quicker. Like I said, though, an extremely minor complaint.
