Amazing place. Get some roti with curry and their various noodle dishes. Not a better place in Capitol Hill for such things. The drinks are some spicy affairs too. A bunch of spice mixed with vodka. Must try it all!

Enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner here! Reservations are recommended and also the staff were so helpful letting us move the time back when something came up. The staff were so sweet, the food amazing (and came out absurdly fast), the atmosphere just lovely. Hard to pick favorites because everything was phenomenal, but the laksa noodle soup was probably my highlight!

This was my first time having Malaysian food and it was amazing! They had some curry-like dishes, a laced flatbread, a salad, some pickled onions as a side, and more! The wait was one hour even at opening time though but the food definitely made up for it. I also only eat vegetarian and the ones they had were great. There was also a coconut milkshake and it was the best milkshake I've ever had. I want it every day now !

A nice malaysian place in the heart of cap hill. The spicy peanuts are delicious. The items we ordered were unique and flavorful. The malaysian nemasak was some good and had a lot of toppings along with the jhala roti . We ordered the carrot cake which was good but not the best . There was a weird after taste to it which was my personal opinion. Overall this place is nice but definitely not long wait times this place usually has.

Kedai Makan is a precious Seattle eatery for Malaysian food that brings life to noodles, rice, and dough with tantalizing, aromatic spices and flavors. Decorated with colorful baby lanterns throughout, the restaurant is broken down into two tiers of dining areas. Service is friendly and quick. Now to the food... To start, you are provided with complimentary peanuts, seasoned with aromatic spices and tiny dried fish. Warning: they're addictive and filling. The popular Roti Jala is interesting - like a flat, net patterned pancake - the roti is soft, a little sweet, and mostly flavored by the powerful curry dip (which includes chicken) on the side. Eat this quick as it's best enjoyed warm and can cool down quickly. The Chili Pan Mee is a fun mix of meat, veggies, noodles, and of course, topped with an egg. Reminiscent of Japanese mazemen (mixed noodles) or a noodle-based bibimbap, this dish includes fun textures and flavors from anchovies and fried shallots and is served to be mixed all together. While more mild in flavor than expected, I kept wanting to go back for more thanks to the sauce and poached egg creating a creamy, savory umami bomb. The Turmeric Egg Fried Rice is pretty tasty. The rice has a beautiful golden hue, there are generous portions of leafy greens (yui choi) the turmeric gives the rice a nice golden color. This dish also has good texture from the fried shallots. With that said, the Chili Pan Mee definitely outshined this dish. The coconut shake they serve is a nice dairy free addition to the meal to cut the spices. It's a little on the sweeter side, so people with sweet tooths will particularly enjoy this. If you love your southeast Asian spices and are looking for a fun place to eat out with friends or a casual date night, Kedai Mekan delivers.

* 🥘: 9/10. I started with the chicken wings, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully juicy on the inside, served with a delicious spice. It was a great way to kick off my meal. For my main course, I opted for the wheat noodle, and it was a flavor explosion! The coconut rice was fragrant and fluffy, the curry was one of the best dishes I've ever had, very rich and flavorful. To top it all off, my mami ordered the coconut shake and she decided to get everyone the same drink after she tried because it was too GOOD and she doesn't want us to miss out. Yup it was the BEST drink I have ever had in 2023. * 👨🏻‍🍳: 9/10. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, with a lovely Malaysian flair. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my meal, making sure I had everything I needed. A really cute waiter is really attentive but I didn't get his name. * 📍: 7/10. It is quite small and can get crowded easily with lots of people. But If you're a fan of Malaysian cuisine or just looking for a memorable dining experience, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Kedai Makan. You won't be disappointed!

Incredible! The Roti Jala with chickpea curry was outstanding, probably the best “bread”-style appetizer I’ve ever had. The Nasi Lemak, turmeric egg fried rice, and mushroom pan mee were all amazing as well. I especially liked their usage of a variety of types of eggs and the curry sauce. It was also incredibly fast, affordable, and great service!

I haven’t had Malaysian cuisine before but the Nasi Lemak (which I ordered with Tofu and Chickpea Curry) definitely ranks as the most delicious meal I’ve had in a long time. The coconut rice has a pleasantly surprising sweetness that complements the variety of bold flavors in the dish. This dish definitely has a “wow” factor to it. They also seem to be accommodating to different dietary restrictions, offering vegetarian/vegan preparations of the dish too if desired. Service was quick and to the point, not especially friendly but no complaints to be had. I definitely recommend this place wholeheartedly!

Pretty fantastic experience. I didn’t realize I would love Malay food as much as I did. I felt like it was a fusion of island ingredients, Chinese herbs and savory eastern curries. I would highly recommend this spot for taking out a date, friends and families with older children. Portions were big!

This was the first time I tried Malaysian food and this place was recommended by a friend. The ambience was chill and casual and the staff friendly and attentive. The food was super. We tried prawn crackers, roti jala with chickpea curry, laksa Kemal and coconut water. The staff adjusted the spice levels based on our requests. Loved the roti jala, it was very new and went super with the curry. Laksa lemak was delicious. Expected the prawn crackers to be fried and fried prawns but instead they turned out chips like, tasted good but had different expectations. Coconut water didn’t seem fresh but the canned/bottle types. The menu options might not seem very diverse and to summarize the food is heavy on coconut flavor and if you like Thai cuisine or coconut based curries, this place is heaven. Decently prized and paced service. Overall loved the place and would definitely want to try more of their menu options.

I did not have a chance to try this restaurant under the previous ownership, but I enjoyed the food on my first visit this time. The portions were generous and the flavors were excellent. Both of our dishes were pretty spicy, so be prepared for a little heat as the menu doesn’t specify spice levels. The only downside was that the tables are close together and we were seated downstairs right next to the open staircase. It felt a little dirty to have people’s shoes walking right beside the table where we ate. It would’ve been nicer if the table was not touching the staircase but there was no room to move it over because of the tight seating arrangements.
