So lucky to have beat the lunch rush, but I probably would've waited in the line anyways? Hekk yeah! Their menu is very straightforward: chicken, fried chicken, or tofu. I ordered the standard chicken bowl with steamed chicken that comes on a bed of rice, cucumbers, and leafy greens. I also added a side egg! ** can never go wrong with adding a soft boiled egg! Service was friendly and quick even during their rush hours at lunch time. They accidentally forgot my side soup but no time waiting to give me a cup. The chicken is steamed to perfection: even the white meat was super juicy and who doesn't like a little chicken skin?? Their ginger sauce to top off your chicken is also amazing. Slight bit of spice but just the right amount. You can say I'll be back soon because I was too full to order the side of mango sticky rice- it looked amazing!

A long line late in the evening led to a satisfying experience with chicken served over flavorful rice, slightly sweet popcorn chicken, delicious braised pork, and indulgent mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream. The staff was pleasant and clearly doing their best to serve the crowd. Definitely one of the better options in this shiny new plaza.

Had the KMG (Hainan Chicken: poached chicken, chinese broccoli, and pickled cucumber, over chicken broth infused rice). A little on the salty side, but still good. Good, friendly service!

I tried the KMG (poached chicken and Chinese broccoli over rice for $10.99). The sauce and a cup of hot chicken broth were served on the side. The chicken was tender and juicy, but the tasty flavor comes primarily from the KMG sauce. The rice is cooked with chicken broth. The veggies were served cold. I added sriracha to everything. It was a simple meal, but very filling. Made me feel like I was eating at my grandma's house. To be honest, I don't think the meal is worth $11 but that seems about standard for the area. If you're looking for a balanced, filling meal, check it out!

I'm quite particular about chicken rice but I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! FOOD 4/5 I tried the KMG, fried KMG, and popcorn chicken. The rice was well cooked and flavorful. The poached chicken in the KMG poached well but sliightly dry. The fried chicken was perfect. The KMG sauce is great but I wish they had a wide variety of sauces. VALUE 5/5 Cheap prices, large portions. DECOR & SERVICE 5/5 The restaurant was clean. Service was fast and friendly. Parking can be a little challenging since the square gets crowded during the lunch rush. I'm definitely coming back in the future 👌

Limited selection of extremely tasty options. Both the steamed and fried chicken dishes were delicious. I'd also recommend the Thai Iced Tea -- for that they asked me if I'd like to hold the whipped cream, which has a coconut base. Take their suggestion, since the cream is a tad too sweet when it starts mixing with the tea. The portions are generous and the prices are really reasonable -- they struck a nice balance. Insider tip is to order the fried chicken with the KMG (Khao Man Gai) sauce instead of the sweet Thai chili sauce, since the flavors are more unique for that --- by default they offer the KMG sauce only with the steamed chicken.

Satisfies my KMG cravings! I first tried khao man gai at some restaurants in Portland, and was surprised I couldn't find anything similar in San Jose, until recently with Chick'n Rice. I tried a few dishes at the Berkeley location, and the San Jose one is the same great quality. The pork dish is actually my fave, even though the specialty is KMG. Lines are long but I don't mind--eventually it'll die down and I can eat here more often after getting groceries nearby.

My wife wanted to try this place out 4/5/18. It is a small place and was very busy, but the food was GREAT! It has become one of her favorite places to eat at. We had the combo, but next time I plan on just sticking with the KMG. I've been telling my friends about this place almost everyday since.

Decent place. Love the chicken flavored rice. Fried KMG is pretty good. Normal poached KMG is okay... a little dry. The sauces are good and vegetables are good. Overall good for the price
