Our family loves Sonny's. I love thier Pho, rice noodle cold bowls, curry shrimp and grilled prawns very much, but I have enjoyed every meal I have had here. The Thai tea is yummy too.

Cozy little mom & paps cafe with unique food no other places have them. I eat the egg rolls so crunchy delicious, quail on fire -->so good & they fire bbq with xo in front of you, the crunchy popsticles balls omg so crispy crunchy good, everything was made from scratch and so delicious & unique. Will come back when I am in the area. I know good Vietnamese food cuz I'm from Orange county in Southern California, the 2nd largest Vietnamese community outside of Vietnam & I eat so much Vietnamese food to know. Lol.
Went here recently because I’ve always seen it but never realized it was this legit. This place is tucked away in a plaza that doesn’t have much besides bills cafe and a baskin Robbin’s but don’t let appearances fool you. This place has a pretty extensive menu. I went with what I was craving and that didn’t disappoint. Matter of fact I have to togo half my food to finish off later. The wings were really good, have good flavor and texture. The seafood salad is a favorite of mine because it has a lot of variety, wish it had more shrimp though and more chips. I know the chips don’t cost much and would love to have a better chip to salad ratio. The rice plate was good too, filled me up with quality ingredients. Give this place a try, you won’t regret it.
Very clean, warm atmosphere. Food is very good. We had some pho, and the onion beef with shrimp. Also had a honeydew smoothie, it was good but just a little sweet for my taste. The service was top notch, very engaging and friendly!
We haven't eaten here since it was called Sonny's Cafe, it was a sad day when they closed for good.
But I'm glad the doors reopened with new owners and an extensive menu.
Whenever I try a new Vietnamese restaurant, I tend to order the Vermicelli bowl with any grilled protein. The portions were large and beef stuffed with onions was grilled perfectly. On my next visit I'll try their Bahn Mi's!
Tried this place for the first time today. Food and service were great! Restaurant was very clean and had a very cozy feel. Loved the decor. I ordered a bbq rice plate and my wife got the hu tieu. We also got 2 orders of spring rolls they were so good! Everything came out quick and was delicious! We'll be sure to be back and bring friends/family!
First time trying this place and what really caught my eyes is the banh xeo. Not all places make it and not well. Safe to say it did not disappoint!! Pho not pictured but the broth was flavorful. I also didn't leave this place smelling like pho, which I appreciated. The workers, probably owners were all so friendly and attentive. Will be back to try the other food! Been eyeing the birds nest kind of dish. Yums!

I was so hungry and the food looked so good I forgot to take pictures. However, I will be back. Great menu and food had so much flavor. Delicious! I definitely recommend it.
Absolutely the best Pho spot in South San Jose. Gone are the days of having to drive to ESSJ for good pho. The service is always top notch, and the owner and staff are attentive. It is one of those we make it when you order it but it's 100% worth the wait!
Even beyond the pho, I love that the rest of their menu is banging too! Their beef stew is amazing, banh mi is huge (which I sometimes order to dip in my broth) and their garlic fried chicken wings, chefs kiss, it is literally the best chicken wings on this side of town!! I always order the wings so I can take the seasonings (fried green onion, friend onions, and fried jalapeño) and pour it into my broth.
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch after hiking. The restaurant is bright and clean, big portion of food with quality, and friendly service.
This place is great, have eaten here many times and amazed every time I try something new.
Banh Mi sandwich is wonderful, the bread is perfect! And what a deal at 10.50 includes a drink and some chips.
Beef Stew with bread or noodles is also very savory and generous portions.
As an appetizer the garlic chicken, crispy and garlicky, yum.
Tried the Beef and Onion Bun Nem with vermicelli noodles, what a perfect combination!
Family business working hard and providing great food to the community. Patients during normal busy times, well worth any wait :)
