Wing Lum Cafe. A cute little place with great tasting food! We ordered Wing Lum Fried Rice, Honey Walnut Prawns, Szechuan Beef...as a bonus the house threw in 4 egg rolls! Such a nice surprise! Their water was ice cold and very large and never went empty. The staff was very nice and treated is like visiting family members. Thank you Wing Lum Cafe!
This place is da bomb . My buddy and I travel 2 hours like once a month because their orange chicken and combination chowmeain is so good .
Update: They are open for take-out 7 days a week and the hours remain the same, 11:30am-2am (yes, 2am in the morning) during COVID-19. the owner works really hard. He opens 365 days a year, and never takes a day off. You can call them ahead before pick up, or use delivery service like Postmates, Ubereats, and Grubhub.
Wing Lum Café (榮生餐館) serves authentic Chinese cuisine. No matter what I order, their food has always been consistently fresh and tasty. The food portion is pretty generous, and the price extremely reasonable (dinner entrée $10 - $15).
As you enter the restaurant, there are two separate spacious dining areas on either side of the front door. The décor is a little quirky but it has a charm to it. The owner and waitperson are very friendly, and you see that they are on first name basis with many of their diverse regular customers. Often times, I hear customers refer to them as “my friend” or “amigo.”
I have been a regular customer for years now. My most favorite dishes are Steam Whole Fish or Braised Whole Fish (see photo) that are not on the menu. Just ask and they will try to accommodate!
The restaurant may not seem busy but people come and go, dine-in or take-out on a steady stream throughout the day. So the food can come out a little slow at times, but they are usually pretty fast.
It is certainly not a five-star fine-dining restaurant but a 5-star mom-and-pop neighborhood restaurant in the Civic Center / Van Ness / Lower Polk area. They are open all year round, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year Days as well as the Eves. Parking garage around the corner and off-street parking.
Very yummy food produced by friendly and extremely accommodating chef & owners (even when i order things not offered on the menu). Also fairly priced & well propotioned
I visited SF last weekend, this restaurant taste so good, and Johnny is the best thank you.
It was good. Egg rolls were just okay, but the beef fried rice was out of this world.
