Food was okay. The server was awful. No wonder why the bento place next door has a line and izakaya umai had only two tables occupied. "carl s" is the worst. Ordering was painful. Was asked if by toro I meant maguro or sake... does fatty tuna EVER mean salmon?

This restaurant is under rated. My second time at Izakaya is just as enjoyable as my first! My meal today was the Tonkotsu. Delicious! Broth was on point, the pork was one of the best I've had in a ramen dish, and every ingredient complimented the dish. To top it off, the pricing is more than fair.

Customer service was okay. Our server was polite and got all our orders correct. We got two bento boxes that had salmon, beef teriyaki, avacado roll, tempura, and gyoza. We also ordered three different ramens, a caterpillar roll, karage, and a teriyaki set. The ramen broth was just OK. That goes for all 3 that we got. It was sub par. The gyoza was dry, the karage dry, the teriyaki was dry and almost flavorless. And the caterpillar roll didn't impress me. I guess we are just too accustomed to actual Japanese food since we grew up in Japan. But being stateside often now for the past 7 years, we have been to many great Japanese restaurants. This happened to be a disappointment. Two stars for service. Zero stars for food. Do I recommend this place? No. Plus, for the price, it's not worth it.

For a Japanese restaurant they were very accommodating. They actually can use radish and cucumber instead of white rice on Sushi, with sauces on the side! Evetything was very good and they appreciate your business. Very under rated, sounds like competitor fake reviews for less than 5 stars..

Super slow service. Water was served in paper cups and chopsticks were disposable. Ordered salmon hand roll and spicy tuna hand roll. Was given two salmon rolls and was under the impression that each order came in sets of two. Asked about the tuna roll and the chef insisted that he had served a tuna and a salmon roll instead of the two salmon we received. Food was overpriced.

It seems hardly fair to judge a restaurant based on their bento boxes but I think it says something when simple dishes are not conscientiously prepared. The salmon teriyaki was dry, the gyoza was oily, and the agedashi tofu was fair at best. We also had a hamachi appetizer and the fish was not fresh. The service was good with friendly waitstaff.

Love this place My go to place to eat Noodles in the night. The waiter is always kind and super polite. Udon tempura will cost about $12 so I really love coming here

Food is pretty standard American Japanese food. It can be very slow when the place gets a little busy. Not recommended if you are looking for something tasty and more authentic.

Hands down the best oyakodon I've had in Japantown!! Great food, nice atmosphere, and not only did our waiter Carl take good care of us, he was easy on the eyes ;)

Japanese restaurant that has no one who speaks or understands japanese. The ika was burnt and taste like charcoal, fish was not really good. Waitress didnt bring us an itemized bill (i think they overcharged us). Never coming back.
