I've been going here for a while on my commutes back home from the Castro to the East Bay, and I'm glad I found it. Definitely some of the best bagels I've found in the bay. I always get there lox spread which is affordable and filling. You can eat it there or easy to grab and go and hop on the BART. They also have good coffee. Last time I was there I got a great mocha. The chocolate was rich and enjoyable. Wide selection of bagels and they are toasted the perfect amount in my opinion. The atmosphere is chill and while it is usually cold and windy in the area, this place warms me right up. Good place to chill and talk with a friend or do some brief reading. Service is quick. I know I can always count on the folks at Katz to get me a good bagel and some coffee.

I used to work across the street at Superior Automotive Collision Center over 10 years ago. This was THE place to go every morning for our coffee and my personal favorite mocha. Mike was a great guy as well! I had the opportunity to come back a few years ago and the bagels and coffee are still the best I've found to this day!

My favorite bagel place in the city. Very reasonable prices and fresh bagels. No need to ask for them toasted as they are crisp by nature. Sometimes can have a small line out the door but service is quick so no issues there. Very friendly staff, even towards morning grumps who need more coffee.

My wife grew up in Los Angeles, and as a bagel loving person of Jewish descent, she has always complained how hard it is to find a great deli in the Bay Area. Something that compares to Canters or Nate's Al. Yes I took her to Wise and sons and other places in East Bay trying to find that perfect rugelach that wasn't too dry, no luck there. So we settled for something that seemed easier - bagels. After trying many different delis and being disappointed, esp. Wise and sons, whose bagel wasn't bad but wasn't mind blowing either. When all hope was lost, we found Katz. Or she did. And the love affair has continued. I am a huge fan of everything bagel, toasted, with tomato, avocado, onion and capers. And occasionally some lox. You cannot miss this joint in the Mission with the giant bagel facade. Keep enough cash handy. I usually buy a bunch and freeze them. Somehow it tastes better when you toast a flash frozen bagel. Go figure!

Arguably best bagel spot in SF! I love the whitefish salad and house made dill cucumber and pesto garlic cream cheese. Even though we moved away from the mission, we still make the trek most weekends for a katz bagels :)

Good bagels. I got a garlic one with lox, tomato, and cream cheese. The bagel was a little flat but tasty. It was also very fast. The only complaint I have is cost; my breakfast sandwich was $8.50--the same thing would be at most 6 in New York. San Francisco prices, I guess? Also, while I was there, a homeless man ran in and stole the tips out of the tip jar.

I came to check this place out and although it doesn't compare to NYC bagels, it's still very good. There was a line when I arrived but it moved quickly. There's limited seating and it's cash only so be prepared in advance. The chai lattes were pretty bad so I would recommend going elsewhere for that. Overall a good spot to stop for a bagel

Katz Bagels! I think everyone in San Francisco is searching for New York Bagels and will never find them. But I do love the bagels at Katz, especially when they are adorned with egg, bacon, and cheese. They also serve delicious drip coffee making Katz an easy stop for a weekend breakfast when I don't want to deal with brunch lines at other restaurants. They have some creative sandwiches with spinach and pesto, so check them out some time.
