This will be simple. We really enjoyed this place! From our host/waiter Mark and another waiter Jayden and everyone else we encountered working there to the food, just a top notch place. The place was crowded and as we learned, it really wasn’t according to Mark compared to the weekends. One of our hotel staff at the Marriott Union Station front desk(Rob)referred us to the Z & Y and he nailed it. This place is a must experience!!!

The food was delicious. We had the pot stickers, scallion pancakes, dry sautéed green beans (cooked perfectly), chicken with explosive chili pepper, and wonderful house special fresh fish filet boiled in house spicy sauce. (The titles don't come close to explaining how delicate these dishes were). Originally, we had no idea what to order so we had our waitress decide for us. She did an amazing job. The rest of the wait staff were very attentive. Great dinner Place is small, and wait can be 30-40 minutes, but worth it. There are others places around this restaurant, but they have very few customers. Will definitely come back.

Holy cow this was amazing. The Dandan noodles were spicy and rich and the Chongqing Numbing Spicy Noodle soup was possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten. So spicy, but not in a bad way, rich from the mushrooms and pork, and with fresh cilantro. Noodles were bouncy. Had the half Peking duck and it was delicious.

Good food and good environment. Food price is a bit expensive compared to ZY across the street. One thing I don’t understand is they charge 16% of service fee by default, and then ask for tip based on total amount of food price + tax + service fee. I don’t think it’s a luxury restaurant with better service. I believe this will provide a really bad impression as a greedy restaurant especially in china town.

I am a big fan of Z & Y Restaurant. However, the long waiting line scares me even in non-busy hours(3PM). I heard Chef Han opened another restaurant just across the street. So I just wanted to try my luck since there is no waiting time(1PM) for Z & Y Bistro. In general, I feel Z & Y Bistro is a backdoor for some dishes in Z & Y Restaurant, like Bamboo Shoots, Spicy Beef Jerky, Couple's Delight and Beef in Peppercorns Clear Broth. If you want these selected Szechuan Cuisine, you can visit Bistro instead and saves plenty of time waiting. The special for Bistro is Yakitori. I ordered Duck Tender, Chicken Gizzards and Chicken Liver. I used to visit Sumika in Los Altos, which is a Michelin recommended. Surprising, Yakitori in Z & Y Bistro tasted slight better than Sumika, but in larger portion and slightly cheaper price. And I met the owner Chef Han in person, he asked me to taste the new cuisine, Bacon wrapped headless shrimp, which is really really good. Yakitori there has slight grilled smell while preserves the originally taste of the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have Yakitori or backdoor for Z & Y Restaurant for Szechuan Cuisine.

If you like spicy - this is the place! Shrimps are better with shells, but takes forever to eat. Spicy beef in flaming oil is good, but not as spicy as it sounds. Sukiyaki was really good. My favorite dish here is duck breast yakitori. All yakitori were good to be honest, but duck breast was outstanding. Highly recommend This is a good mixture of Chinese (Sichuan) and Japanese cuisine. Staff is also very friendly and well trained. I would say, this is an upscale place

Good service and real tasty food. They have a smaller menu than the original Z & Y but the focus on drinks, tapas, noodles and yakitori allows them to really deliver well on it. I really enjoyed my Chongqing noodles and the chicken yakitori was perfectly seasoned. Service was good and prompt. It wasn't busy during lunch and the lunch prices are pretty fair

Z&Y Bistro is really a hidden gem in San Francisco Chinatown. It's an elegant bar with amazing small dishes that goes well with wine. Z&Y Bistro and the famous Z&Y Restaurant have the same owner. All of their Chinese cuisines are delicious (bamboo shoots, spicy beef jerkey, etc.) The skewers are amazing too. Personally I love chicken livers and duck breasts; the bacon wrapped shrimps are nice too. The skewers are of very authentic Japanese style and the price is very reasonable. We have been to several yakitori places in the South Bay but none of them is as good as this one. I have heard some good things about the noodles here and will definitely try the ramen next time. Lanzhou Beef Ramen is a must-try, since so few restaurants here in SF has this special style of noodles that is famous in China. I also like the modern setting and quite atmosphere of this place, not to mention the service is energetic and friendly here. Now I'm a big fan of here and can't wait to come back.

Sister restaurant of Z&Y across the street, this joint in Chinatown serves some dishes that you’d find in Z&Y (mostly Sichuan dishes like chili beef and 夫妻肺片)as well as various yakitori stuff, hot pots (sukiyaki, seafood hotpot) and noodle soups. The duck breast yakitori was our favorite. A good selection of beer and wine to go with the food.

There’s two Z & Y in close proximity so be aware of that. The “bistro” which is the one I went to has the fusion fares. It was delicious. Things were cooked fresh and well. The pictures speak of themselves. The dishes that are spicy come loaded with so much red chilies. It’s really a site to see. We tried the miso pork takitori and that was delicious. We also had the Couple’s Delight which was an appetizer with tendon and other things. That was delicious.

This place is fantastic. It's clean and chic. The food is authentic as it can get! The spice reminded me just as Chongqing food was (I only got spicy food). It had tastes of numbing powder.

Wonderful Asian fusion restaurant. Service was top notch and the food was excellent. I loved the spicy clams and the Berkshire pork neck skewers, the pickled tomatoes where a revelation.
