Stumbled (literally) upon this place looking for an after dinner night cap and was so pleasantly surprised by this small tapas bar. Only drank wine but want to come back to enjoy the full experience soon! Unfortunately was a super drunken loud party there but I’m sure this is a great date spot and look forward to bringing my partner back sometime soon. Super friendly staff as well!

Very cool experience doing the sherry flight here! I learned so much about the diversity of flavor with sherries, and the food pairings were eye opening and delicious as well. The churros also were so tasty. We ended up taking a bottle of sherry home because the experience was so excellent! Highly recommend

Highly recommended for a dinner with friends, on a date or just to enjoy and treat yourself! 🤫 they also have amazing looking cheese platters to snack on!

This was a pleasant surprise for us. It wasn't your flashy and fancy SF wine bar, and the people there are pretty layback. As order food and drink, each dish and drink surprise us more as they were all really delicious. We went from a little unsure as we went in, to pleasantly surprised as our orders came, and was finally thoroughly satisfied as we leave. Give it a try. I'm sure you'll be surprise too.

The service was really great and I really enjoyed the entrees and small bites. Not a huge fan of the wine cocktails, but that's more of a personal preference. Great wine bar if that is your thing.

Fantastic place with great vibes! We got basically everything on the menu except the steak and was impressed by all of it. The octopus and anchovy olives were our favs.
Staff is super friendly and the whole place just feels like somewhere I'd want to hang out for a while. Highly recommend!

Great little wine bar with excellent food and drinks. The menu is not extensive but it has a nice selection of tapas, cheese, and appetizers. The service is friendly and the ambiance is very seductive. It's a unique and fun place to have a drink and some food.

Got the octopus, meatballs, and the corn. The octopus was to die for but the portion is so small. The meatball is great.

I came here with an event planner’s eye to see if they could scale for catering. The place is really quaint and you can see all the happenings of the kitchen and the bar. As a tapas place, you already know to double whatever you order because there’s almost never enough. Therefore come willing to spend $50/person to have a good time with friends.
Food was pretty good overall, standout was the sauce on top of the potatoes. Yummy!

Definitely a place I would go to over and over again. The food is on point. The style is unique of how the plate is later out. The smells are fresh and it tasted as if straight from farm and sea. The owner and cheff know their dishes and the owner also serves the food what better service and dishes can you get. I like going to places of quality and this has been not only added to date locations list but even just a selfish meal place because you may not want to share. Not because of size but because of the taste.

El lopo represents the best sort of thing in a city like San Francisco. It's boldly unusual and comfortably weird.
El Lopo is dedicated to the oft-misunderstood world of fortified and aromatized wines - namely sherry and vermouth.
Sherry is just barely starting to get any level of recognition as a cocktail ingredient, much less being recognized as something that stands on it's own, and while vermouth is a staple in most cocktail bars, it is still something that doesn't get much consideration as a sipper. El Lopo is trying to bring people's attention on each for the latter purpose, which is great to see. They have a very nice selection, a laid back atmosphere and great staff.
This is not a great place to get a bite to eat if you are gluten or dairy free, but nobody is perfect, and the food is really there to help experience the drinks in a different way, so I would still recommend them if you are at all interested in learning about Sherry or Vermouth

Everything we tried was good, but the squash empanada (a spooky season special) was life-changing :) The Galician wine cocktails were really tasty and unique.

Out of all the stops we did during the "Crawloween" Halloween pub crawl, this is the one that really stood out as a place we would return to whenever we are in the area, especially for a cozy date night.
Since the pandemic, we haven't been able to do our European travels like we used to, and this place scratches that itch: quaint, cozy, nice and cultured atmosphere and decor, excellent drinks (plus a sherry list), chilled vibe and music (we were going to leave instead of waiting to come in -- they seemed a bit overwhelmed by the pub crawl crowd -- but then one of our chillout favorites started playing, Underwater Love by Smoke City, and we knew this was our place.)
The staff were all cool, the sangria was good, and the slice of pumpkin and potato empanada was delicious.
Being here almost made things feel normal and relaxed again. It was great!

It's hard to believe you're not in Spain when in this place place. Cozy layout, cheap menu, charming staff, and live music every Monday at 7pm. Stop by anyday but recommend Mondays to start your work week or Fridays to end it😊

Absolutely delicious and the low ABV cocktails are amazing. You can keep enjoying all night and not wind up getting carried home. I wish more places had a menu like this!!

Tapas was excellent. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but highlights for us were the pork belly and octopus. Octopus came with this really intriguing dark/purple mashed potatoes, it was great. There’s also trivia night which seemed fun (we went on a Wednesday) but difficulty was well beyond my mental capacities. Nice place for a date
