Tried the toffee QQ half sweet with oat milk. Everything was good. The cups are huge and don’t fit in a cup holder. Might be hard for little hands to hang on to.
Seating available inside. Parking could be challenging.
We waited 5 minutes, there was no one in-front of us.
Straws look like compostable, hoping it doesn’t get soggy before I finish. I like to take my time and enjoy it all afternoon.
the wait time is atrocious,, but purple kow is a sf staple.
i'd give them a 3.5 if i could, based on nostalgia and taste overall.
with three people working the shop, it's just hard to justify the near 15 minute wait time on a weekday with school still being in session. maybe it's because i ordered food. but i also waited the same amount of time when i went back multiple times back 2021 when i ordered ONLY drinks (usually ordering just one drink every time i went).
usually there's a line but when i got there, there wasn't a line but (3-4) people who've ordered waiting. ordering never takes long at purple kow. it's always the waiting. i think it's because they offer food items--so that really delays the whole process.
it would be awesome if they can figure out a way to separate the food from the drink making station, or completely remove the food and make purple kow solely a boba shop. they can just stand alone as a drink place, they can survive.. maybe? it's so sf staple so,,
the garlic fries is a complete letdown, do not get it at all. the garlic flavor doesn't even stick to the fries so it's just regular, barely salted fries. just don't get it.
my mango green tea was solid. no toppings doesnt delude the flavor, so i'll just keep getting that in the future. pricing is honestly not bad, it works for me, 10$ for fries and boba :')
i'd get purple kow again if i'm ever around the area, but man. the wait time really just turns me off all the time. so who knows frens, who knows.
I absolutely love ordering the garlic chicken wings from this place - they are so delicious! However, I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of their milk tea. It's just too creamy for my taste. They have a variety of milk tea options on their menu, but unfortunately, none of them have really satisfied me.
Went with my bf and we’re pretty inexperienced when it comes to boba but we both liked what we got! I got the B1 with oat milk boba and lychee jelly. And my bf got the F5. Mine was definitely way sweeter and his was more bitter which matched our personal tastes but we both agreed mine was better so I’d recommend it if you’re not sure what to get. Only thing I’d say is the boba was a bit smaller than I was used to but that’s just personal preference.
Definitely stop by if you’re in the area.
Purple Kow is the spot for me when I visit SF!
This time around, decided to go heavy and ordered a 33 oz passion fruit green tea with boba. Total was $6.90 which is a bit pricey, but there was A LOT to drink. Probably scooped a few spoonfuls of boba in there.
Staff was a bit a slow. No one was in line, but it took awhile for them to make my drink. I ordered it with half sugar and it was too sweet. I would definitely recommend maximum 25% sugar (maybe no sugar) for the amount of boba they throw in there.
Street parking only.
I'll be back with my sugar adjustments!
Was nearby this place while in San Francisco and decided to try it out. Parking was bad, as with many places in the city, but there being many customers usually is a good sign. The drinks come in a chubby cup and we're tasty and budget friendly. We tried the garlic fries and they were excellent! Garlic taste was not strong. Fries were hot, crunchy and fresh. The straws for the drinks didn't last long since they were paper straws.
we got the taro slush and the D3. super yummy. Drinks can be really sweet I recommend 50-80% sweetness 😸 it was pretty busy and crowded when we went on a Saturday but the wait time wasn’t too bad about 15 minutes.
I have been going to this place for years. I go nearly every week, and I love this place. Their boba and chicken nuggets are top tier. I have two complaints, one is that the prices have become extremely high and a boba is now around 7 dollars with tax. Another is that they don't so delivery, you can order ahead on the app, which is worth it. However, for once in a while, it definitely is worth it.
Loved the pistachio milk tea with boba and matcha jelly! I ordered it on a whim and didn’t regret it. As a person who is picky when it comes to their boba, I highly recommend.
I bought a strawberry slushie type drink here and it was soooo good. I also bought a tea here as well and it was a 5 👍. The atmosphere wasn't bad. The place could use an update as it needs a few repairs. The service isn't bad even though we were waiting for our number to be called and it never happened. The girl cashier/server gaves us the wrong number so we were sitting there waiting & waiting until she made a gesture that she thought our drinks were on the counter waiting lol lol. Maybe if drinks could talk lol lol. But the drinks are very very good despite.
