Earlier this fall, I planned a trip to CA for the first time ever to visit my best friend and the first leg on my/our trip was San Francisco. It was her birthday and we stumbled upon this restaurant while casually strolling down the streets of SF and were drawn to this restaurant because it seemed super sophisicated yet intimate, the perfect setting to reign in my best girlfriend's 24th birthday. So we got a table, looked at the menu and decided on the Muscles and a delicious pasta dish. We devoured the muscles, they were so delicious and I'm not someone who normally fancies those kinds of seafood but it was definitely such an indulgence and I loved every bite of it. Next, we ordered the Pesto and it was again so delicious, the wine we had to accompany it only added to the very decadent dinner we were having and the owner was beyond charming and really set the tone for a wonderful way to invite my friend's 24th year on Earth. We skipped dessert only because we had to get going but I wish we had stayed longer. It was such an amazing and memorable evening full of delicious food, delicious wine, delicious company and it has to be a tradition for my friend and I to go back there. 15/10 had SUCH a fantastic time at this restaurant....so much so that I'm writing this 3 months after I visited because I really wanted the owner/staff to know how great of a time we had. Thanks so much to you all and hope to see you soon :))

Amazing little bistro. The food was perfect, staff is super friendly and personable, in a nice area with relaxing atmosphere. Not as loud as some of the restaurants around the neighborhood too, which made it a bit romantic. The steak tartare was full of flavor and beautifully crafted, and the ratatouille, fresh and unique. Would definitely recommend for a nice quiet meal or small plates over a bottle of wine.

This place is the best food in the Marina, hands down. Pair that with charming, warm, authentic French owners who quickly become your best buds, and this will soon morph into the go-to neighborhood joint you never realized you needed. Always a good decision to go to Castagna!

Have only been here for a weekend brunch with friends so i cant speak to their full menu. BUT...the caramelized French Toast is decadent!!!!! An absolute must try! My friends had eggs benedict which they really enjoyed and i had a croque monsieur. The mimosas were also some of the best I had...really smooth and quality champagne. The place is a little tight though - i definitely felt like we were sitting on top of some of the other patrons in there. Regardless, I would definitely come back!

Beautiful restaurant with incredible food, wine, and staff. They make you feel very special and the food complements that beautifully. The owner (I think) is this incredible French guy who's full of life and energy! The food was very good and the wine pairings beautiful.

Really good food. Some dishes I got reminded me of the south of France. Our waiter was from Nice and has definitely upped his game providing much better service on par with American service than his counterparts. As always though he knew all the dishes and wines. Some might say he is a bit too talkative and friendly with the ladies but it didn’t bother us.

Excellent service. The proprietor had brought in his friend to run the place. Said friend made the experience really special, offering tips on authentic French cuisine. Great experience!
