Sanraku Japanese Restaurant

Was on our way to a different sushi restaurant and happened to see this one. The restaurant was full, which is a good sign. As we were looking at the menu outside the restaurant, 2 patrons leaving told us the food was great so we decided to try it. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. So fresh! We had salmon sushi and a shrimp tempura roll. The salmon melted in your mouth it was so wonderful and the tempura roll was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be back!

It was a very low key restaurant, I honestly missed the very VERY big sign in-front of the restaurant. We were greeted by the Japanese servers who were really efficient and funny because he was telling me I was ordering too much. The food came out surprisingly quick, and it was hot. Chirashi Sushi - Chef’s choice of 5 different nigiri. The sashimi is very fresh, and the rice was legitimate. 100/10 Agedashi Tofu - They used some kind of mochi exterior and the sauce was AAA+ Soft Shell Crab Tempura - WHOLE Soft Shell Crab that was fried to perfection. Extremely crispy exterior with juicy and soft meat on the inside. Ebi Tempura - The same as the Soft Shell Crab Tempura. Prepared and cooked perfectly. Unagi Donburi - Eel was prepared perfectly, I would have preferred the sauce to be a bit more sticky but no complains here! Katsu Donburi - Crispy BUT it could have been more juicy. Tempura Udon - The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was flavorful and extremely refreshing to drink.

We had an amazing dinner at Sanraku, in fact our best meal in our SF trip so far. The sushi and sashimi were very fresh, and the portion size was generous. Udon with tempura were amazing as well: the tempura were crispy and tasty. Service was quick! The price was acceptable for such a good meal. If you want reliable Japanese food, you can do no wrong here.
