Any time is a great time for dumplings- especially when you know they're fresh, handmade, quality dumplings that are bursting with flavor.
This place was pure heaven from start to finish- hitting all of my foodie pleasure zones with gold stars. Service, atmosphere, presentation, and flavor were all amazing.
From the moment you walk in, you can see a trio of chefs carefully stuffing and rolling each dumpling.
I ordered the shrimp dumpling, seafood gyoza, soup dumpling, and green tea and milk bao.
The shrimp dumpling was perfect- not too much dough, and packed with huge chunks of shrimp, cilantro, and pork filling.
The seafood gyoza was as beautiful as it was delicious. It's filled with shrimp, scallops, and crab and it's all packaged in a green spinach wrap. It's good on its own, but out of this world once you dip it in the frothy chili butter sauce.
The soup bao was a fun experience to try- comes with a straw and once you carefully poke s hole in the side, you can slurp the hot gingery broth and later, scoop out the pork belly laying inside.
The green tea milk baos are the perfect warm, fluffy, creamy dessert to top it all off.
Try this place ASAP. It will have you fantasizing about coming back even before you finish your meal.
Dumplings were freshly made and so delicious . Enjoyed every bite. Service was quick. Our server Marcel (hope I spelled it correctly) was knowledgeable on all the menu items and gave us wonderful suggestions. She kinda looked like JLo. Will come back again.
Very nice food. I had the noodles and so did my friend. Can’t remember which ones I had though lol. The point is they were very good. Then we had the mango pitting and sesame balls, which were my favorite. Sesame balls had bean paste inside which I adored however, the service wasn’t so nice they were very slow and they sent us the check before we had finished ordering… and then sent us another one after we ordered dessert. I understand that it may have been a mistake, but overall a very nice place and I’ve come many times now!
Yesterday we visited the dumpling time to try a variety of dumplings and other options from their menu.
As per the highest recommendation we ordered the shrimp toast for appetizers. Although it was good, but honestly I would have loved it if it had more shrimp pieces.
Other dishes that we tried was BBQ Pork Bao, Lobster Siu Mai and Chicken gyoza. Loved all the other dishes they had perfect balance of flavors.
Service was quite quick here for the dishes we had ordered.
I would recommend this place for their good food and service
This is so worth a visit. We went twice during our brief visit to SFO. The dumplings are very tasty. We ordered the soup dumplings and spicy chicken dumplings. But the icing on the cake was the dessert menu. Totally unique and different Asian desserts. My whole family loved this place. Service was fast and excellent and the outdoor setting was perfect.
There's a reason people wait in line for Dumping Time. But there was almost no queue on a Thursday evening, so we diverted from our Thai plans to go. Doco is solid--perfectly prepared and not too heavy. Portions are ample; we got four plates for two hungry people, and it was more than enough. Service feels frenzied, like they're over-worked. Bathrooms were well kept.
Nice dumpling place for a quick bite. Vegetarian dumplings were delicious and juicy. Crispy tofu was good, especially with the sauce.
This place deserves all the stars. Delicious and creative food with fast and efficient service and funky, warm vibes. There are k pop music videos playing on a giant projector inside. The dumpling and bao are to die for. I love all the dumplings but the pork beet dumplings are not to be missed! They will blow you away. Their outdoor seating is great too, complete with high powered heat lamps. It was almost toasty out there. No reservations so you have to get on the list but jump across the street to the Thai sports bar for a drink while you wait.
The best item we ate were the sesame balls. They were generous in size, bigger than the standard size. The gyoza and xiao long bao were good but the soup in the xiao long bao was not as flavorful as other Chinese restaurants. The noodles we ordered were bland. Not enough sauce or flavor.
More of a ambiance than authentic dumplings but if you’re looking for a vibe with your steam dumplings, this is it. Do you want to feel like you’re in west Hollywood as you bite into your overpriced panfried potstickers?
Well, you found your spot. Realistically, a fun place to meet some friends, but don’t expect affordable dim-sum.
I can't stop telling people how awesome this place is.
I was visiting SF and I'm so glad I made the Uber drive to eat here.
I ended ordering twice because it was so good. I ordered the lamb and red dumplings and they were very filling, but it was my last day in town, so I placed another order of both of them. I don't regret this decision.
This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting the Bay Area.
The servers and management were incredibly friendly and professional. There service was fast and this location is beautiful!!
Update:
I planned a layover purposefully to SF just to visit Dumpling Time. And now I realize this is my favorite restaurant in the USA.
Great place! Went on a Friday night and the vibe was great! The staff is very nice and polite and the food is yumm!! There was no wait though the place was quite busy.
We ordered the crispy tofu, spring rolls, lobster siu mai, and the chicken gyoza. Everything was perfect! My favorite was the lobster siu mai.
The only thing I wish was if they were opened till a little later.
