Leopold’s is a really special place, and if you enjoy Austrian/German cuisine, you should definitely visit. We’ve come here twice so far, and each time we’ve had a wonderful experience. The food is exceptional—the best Austrian/German in the Bay Area! The star of the show is the Wiener schnitzel—absolutely incredible! All of the entrees and appetizers we’ve tried have been delicious, especially the käsespätzle and bratwurst. They have a decent selection of German beers as well. Their desserts are sub-par, and I wouldn’t recommend ordering these—but I’m optimistic that they will improve over time. Despite the less than satisfactory desserts, I still give them 5 stars because everything else is amazing, including the atmosphere! It’s just so warm and cozy inside, with hospitable service, you really do feel like you’re transported to an Austrian mountain town for a genuine European experience!

The best Austrian food in SF and amazing service! Shannon was our server last night, she was so awesome! Even though the restaurant was packed, wait time for food and drinks was minimal. Our favorites are their Friday special and the Wiener Schnitzel. So happy they’re open again!

Great Austrian food and good vibe. However, it can be really noisy if you want to have a good conversation.

Fun albeit slightly chaotic spot with a charming interior. Our goulash was surprisingly spicy but other than that the rest of the food was great!

BEST Schnitzel in US, compares to Germany/Austria's best. It's a thin cut, and pounded to tenderness to the point that one wouldn't really need a knife to eat it. Breaded and fried to perfection. 5+. Giant pretzel has smaller and more uniform salt distribution, comes with traditional mustard sauce. Beer comes in MUCH LARGER sizes than what's on the menu, including Liter and BOOT sizes. Delicious!

German food is new to me. I loved pretty much everything we ordered, and we ordered quite a bit of food. There were six of us. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Everything tastes amazing and also the atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. You will feel like you are in Europe all of a sudden! :) My favourite dish is the Goulash. The meat is so tender and goes perfectly well with a glass of red wine (or with their huge selection of beer!) One of the best German place in the city for sure.

Delicious! We had the jägerschnitzel and the paprika goulash with cucumber salad. It was all very good. The wait staff are friendly and helpful and genuinely interested in you having a great time. The first page of the menu lists all of their authentic dishes, and the other three pages are all the beer and wine selections. Yum! Worth the walk and reasonably priced.

Always trying to find good Austrian or German food, this place did not disappoint! From the great beer options to the perfectly prepared wienerschnitzel and linzer torte, this brought back memories from my youth. It's difficult to find such good establishments as most rely on word of mouth for advertisement, but I am glad I walked by it earlier that day. It was a great meal to end the day!

We are from Austria and visited San Francisco and to our surprise we found Leopold's Austrian Restaurant. The wine, the beer, the appetizer and entrees were impressive, that's how delicious everything was. From the second we walked in we were treated wonderful, everyone was so friendly. We went back a second time because it was THAT GREAT.
