Review Fog Harbor Fish House - San Francisco

All I can say is wow! The seafood is so incredible here and so fresh. The pasta is also really high quality. Sauce is fantastic. Service is wonderful. Great restaurant at pier 39!

Foods are good other than the oysters. Start with garlic Crab. The crab is fresh and full of meat. Grilled potatoes are crispy and veggie is good. Mix grill plate is good all seafood is fresh. And Chowder is really good. Not too salty, and crab meat is a lot of you add it into the chowder. Lastly, the oyster is really bad. No juice no meat, the quality just not qualify to be even served on tables. Other than oysters. Everything else is still good.

Wonderful dining experience on Christmas Eve. Fabulous sunset and views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge. The food was perfect. Swordfish steak was perfectly seared and well done as requested . Cioppino was perfecto definitely would recommend. Clam chowder bowl was OK

I've been lucky enough to visit San Fran twice this year, and this restaurant was excellent the first time around that we went again. Yes, it's that good. The views, service, and food are incredible. The crab risotto [first visit] was perfection. This time, I had the stuffed crab ravioli, again, perfection. They have ruined crab for me everywhere else šŸ˜…. My husband and sister enjoyed their dishes just as well. Of course, the chowder in the sourdough bread bowl is a must. If you are in the fisherman's wharf area, do not hesitate!

First restaurant, first stop in SF and it was the best choice!! Tried their famous clam chowder in a homemade sourdough bread bowl (say yes to the crab topping) and live/cheesy baked oysters. Food came out quickly and we were able to eat in & out before our ferry. Friendly host and server as well. The entire restaurant was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holiday, really classy and timeless decor. Every window view faced the ocean and the scenic view of the mountains/land across the sea. Would love to stop here again & definitely recommend as a 1 stop for all!

The restauraunt is upstairs on the second level. Directly behind the restaurant is where you can see all the sea lions perched on the dock. Food was amazing, everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The New England clamps chowder was some of the best I have ever had. We also had the poke and calamari which was delicious. Also Great views.

It was so busy when we arrived and were told it was going to be a 20 min wait. 7 min later we were seated at the window overlooking the bay. Itā€™s Fleet Week in SF-so we had a front row seat the Blue Angels and their air show. The service was prompt and our server was so friendly. The food was FANTASTIC. We ordered the Alcatraz Escape cocktail which was delicious. Bruschetta for a starter, which had great flavor. My husband ordered the mix grill and I ordered the halibut. We both loved our choices. Th e sauce with the Halibut was out of this world-so flavorful and satisfying. We finished dinner off with a shared strawberry shortcake. The ā€œbiscuitā€ was a cross between a biscuit and a cream puff shell. The cream was so smooth and the strawberries fresh. Would give it 12 stars out of 10. Definitely recommend. .

Itā€™s been many years since Iā€™ve been to SF. A trip to Fishermanā€™s Wharf is a must! With so many restaurants to choose from, it was not an easy decision but we decided on Fog Harbor after comparing the menu and reviews. Turns out to be a good decision. The restaurant was huge (couldnā€™t tell from the outside) but it was full. Luckily I made reservations and we were given a table near the window fairly quickly. We had seared Pacific cod and lobster tails and both were delicious. The only dish that disappointed was the clam chowder in bread bowl which arrived lukewarm and felt that the taste was lacking. The service was impeccable and the ambience was cozy. Iā€™d choose Fog Harbor again if Iā€™m visiting SF again.

By far my favorite clam chowder in the area. They greeted us with a smile and we sat near a window that overlooked the pier. It felt very homey with all the decor and the place felt clean compared to other restaurants around the pier. We tried lobster rolls, clam chowder and fried calamari. All were super delicious including the fries. Will definitely bring family and friends here to try.

The view of this place is second to none. So beautiful. I saw seals right in front of my view swimming near the boats. The service excellent also. Iā€™m from London so the service here is the best I have experienced than ever in my time. Food also absolutely delicious and portion sizes are hugeā€¦ love it overall.

Excellent service and great choices on the menue

We felt very well taken care of by our waiter, Curtis. The food was great, the environment is awesome, it was an overall excellent evening!

The view of the bay is just one of the many good things about this restaurant. The staff was extremely attentive and polite. They do a wonderful job of taking care of their customers. The food was amazing and the presentation is gorgeous. The mixed grill is a wonderful dish for any seafood lover with salmon, cod and shrimp cooked to perfection.

Let me preface this by saying Iā€™m not s seafood guy at all, so that should mean even more when I say it was delicious. With the mentality of when in Rome if Iā€™m eating in Fishermanā€™s Wharf then Iā€™m gonna have seafood. Yes I didnā€™t go too crazy and had some battered fish and chips but it was delicious and the portion was massive, I couldnā€™t finish my plate which is a rarity. The fish was delicious and the fries were outstanding.

My wife had the mixed grill with pacific cod, salmon, and shrimp. She said there were all delicious and though stuffed she said it was too good to leave any on the plate. I tried the cod and the grill on it was perfect

We set a reservation, and got there a little late, but they still quickly sat us. Came took our orders quickly, and the customer service was great, she always checked on us and our food. The food was amazing, however, expect to pay a little more here. The seafood was amazing, and the view is great as well. Overall experience was great, two thumbs up from us!

Stopped for lunch with hubby while in SF enjoying the holiday rush. Had fresh crab cakes and a Caesar salad - and a glass of wine, too. Delicious. Great service from Lidia. Great view of SF Bay. What could be better? We will be back!

Service was outstanding and the food matched. Great clam chowder! A must stop if you visit Fishermanā€™s Wharf in San Francisco. Also try the Lombard Lemonade.

Fogs' is located in pier 39, on the second floor. We were seated Immediately, and were lucky enough to score window seats and although it was a gloomy day, the view was still beautiful. Our server was prompt, kind, and knowledgeable with the menu! We started off with the crab cakes and clam chowder bread bowl with Dungeness crab! May i say, i finally agree that san Francisco has some of the best chowders! T'was the best chowder i have had yet! And for our main, he had the filet mignon with crab, and i had the lobster tails. The lobster was cooked perfectly! deliciously melt in your mouth! definitely recommended if in the area!

Yum! Loved this place, clam chowder was beautiful - exactly what I hoped for coming to San Fran. The waiter was super nice, he knew we were sharing dishes and brought out the clam Linguine in 2 separate bowls which was lovely. Then crab cakes were also quite nice.

Two words describe this place perfectly, tourist trap. My wife and I had seats at the bar. The view out the window is spectacular. We ordered drinks. Mine came right away. Somehow the bar tender forgot my wife's drink twice! It took about 15 minutes. We had the shell fish seafood tower. I'm including a picture of the peak of the tower exactly as it was served, and I think that says it all. When I asked for lobster crackers to open the claws, he brought me 3 little bags of oyster crackers. These are quite tasty on clam chowder, but useless for lobster and crab claws. We paid the over priced bill and took it as an expensive lesson. There's no way this place should have a 4.5 rating here.

Food was excellent. Came here and started with fried calamari and ended up eating the Pacific Cod. Good atmosphere that could be either laid back or more fine dining oriented.

I had an early dinner here. The view was spectacular. I easily could see Alcatraz Island and the fishing boats from my table. I asked for fish and chips but asked if the cook could substitute halibut for the cod. No problem. Of course I was charged the higher price for the halibut. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this place.
Cory
Really tasty and fresh seafood - amazing views and delish cocktails - highly recommend. The dining room is large but not noisy and they have a bar and a fireplace with lounge if waiting for a table.

Nice dining room overlooking the Fisherman's Wharf at San Fransisco. Tried one appetizer and two main seafood courses. Tasted pretty decent. The atmosphere of the dining room was very relaxing. Very nice to enjoy port scenery while eating fish dishes.

Nice place, a little bit made for tourists (but that's what we are anyway). It's very well located, in pier 39 with tons of shops and attraction like Alcatraz near. The food is very good, we loved their ward winner soup (it's a must try) and order seafood for sure.

You can tell this place is good by the queues outside this place for dinner. Donā€™t let that fool you though as it takes 5 mins to get to the front and you have to leave your name and then can walk the wharf for an average of a 30 minute wait time.
Once in the service is great and the crab cakes and crab salad were very fresh and flavourful. Had a spicy shrimp which was also very good
Would highly recommend

Had to try the clam chowder, and as I wanted to try a whole lot, skipped the house baked sourdough bread bowl and opted for the cup of soup instead.
Followed it by shellfish platter - enjoyed digging in fresh crabs, mussels, clams,
Shrimp served with potatoes in butter garlic sauce.

Great service, the food was fresh, though in the middle of tourist attractions the food, service were impeccable.

Thank you Fog Harbor for a wonderful evening.
Food was excellent! Atmosphere and service were also! The Ahi was cooked to perfection and crab cake appetizer was delicious. We will be back next time we are in town.

Scrumptious!

On the pricy side (in San Francisco, what isn't?). But a very welcome afternoon respite. Right on Pier 39, so a wonderful ocean view. Bustling, but not too noisy. Good food, wonderful creme brule! I look forward to coming back.

Phenomenal!!! I recommended this restaurant to a colleague without dining here, I've had the pleasure of going finally and I have to say I was NOT disappointed!! This was by far the best seafood I've had in The Bay Area yet!! I highly recommend making reservations. The views of The Bay are incredible you can't go wrong.

My fav restaurant to eat seafood in San Francisco! Crab cake was amazing! one of the best so far. Tried their lobster, clam chowder, and salad with grilled shrimp. really delicious! even their free bread with butter was so good!
Oh, don't forgot to try their blondie ;)

Definitely must try!

The best !!!! Tony the bartender/ waiter was terrific!!! The food and service A+!!! Very busy but made us feel special!!! I had the crab and avocado salad and it was out of this world! Fun sitting at bar and watching them make fun drinks!

We visited Fog Harbor for lunch. Waiting for our table didn't take long. The waiter was knowledgeable. We ordered clam chowder and pasta seafood aioli. We love their clam chowder! For us, it's the best clam chowder in Pier 39. Fog Harbor has great service, too!
Anchal Sahni
Loved the food and place.. It is located right next to the ocean shore.. Great ambience with finger licking food!! Must visit place if U r in SF.

Although a little pricey, this restaurant offers great decor and fantastic food. I ordered the ahi tuna, and I wasn't disappointed. I was underwhelmed by the dessert selection, but you can't win them all. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. Overall, I would recommend this establishment for a nice dinner on the wharf.

Had an early lunch at the Fog Harbour, where we had also gone last year for one of the dinners pre-show. I remembered they had really good clam chowder, which I had a craving for after the cold damp ferry ride...

We wanted the vintage San Francisco experience. Being originally from Seattle and now living in Arizona, we always seek out great seafood when we travel. Growing up we would go out and catch dungeness crab and my Dad would make Cioppino. Dungeness Crab was just in season when we went to Fog Harbor. What an amazing treat! Sourdough bread was incredible. Grilled swordfish was very good. Service was impeccable.

First, this restaurant is in the touristy area of the SF wharf, HOWEVER, the food couldn't be better and the views are amazing. I have a severe shellfish allergy and after telling my server, was presented with recommendations that they could accommodate. Tuna Poke was actually amazing, oysters fresh and delicious and the fish and chips were the best I've ever had. I would recommend everyone, tourist and local alike, come try this restaurant!
Food 2 Run
Brilliant - upstairs overlooking San Fran and Alcatraz - we sat at the bar and had oysters and seafood mix - was super... a great place on of my fav spots
Robert Tuckett
Was recommended to go here by the staff a our hotel and had a fantastic meal with great staff . The seafood chowder was beautiful and the crab cakes were awsome

Let me star talking about the careless hostess, very bad service to begin the experience. Inside it was another planet. The waiter was very kind, the service was amazing. Nice place to eat in the Pier. We had a NY sirloin steak medium rare, perfect cooking. A burger, clam chowder bread and fried calamari. All of them tasted amazing. Nice view.
Ali Moghimi
Very tasty food, nice atmosphere and fabulous staff! The best place for dining in the pier. We had lobster tail, salmon, swordfish, burger, and a few cocktails and enjoyed all of them.

We wanted to drive as little as possible in San Francisco and we wanted to walk the hills/use public transportation as little as possible. So we planned to dine in the Fisherman's Wharf and Embarcadero areas. Level walking we could handle. Our first night, we made an early dinner reservation at Fog Harbor Fish House at Pier 39. It might have been early (5:15 pm) but since we were still on east coast time, it was a late dinner, even for us. And we were really hungry.
Nick Wu
My favorite restaurant in sf. Great food, ambiance and cocktails. The porkchop is my top pick! Beautiful and delicious food! Their presentation is top notch.
Sabeel
Some of the best seafood you can ever find. We went as a group of 3 and tried their fish & chips , freed shrimps and crab roll sandwich. Everything tasted amazing and the service was great.

One of the unforgettable dinners I've had. They had an amazing selection of seafood plates and memorable view. Don't forget to make a reservation when you were in those area for a lovely dinner.

My friends and I, 6 of us, just finished eating here. We came on a Wed. at around 7 P.M., and we were sat within minutes. Our experience was fantastic. Actually, each of us couples shared the Mixed Grill, and it was perfect and delicious. I would recommend this. Our server Shawna was AWESOME. She was a spot on server, perfectly attentive, and also gave us recommendations on activities for our stay here.

We dined at Fog Harbor after a day spent exploring Alcatraz Island and Fisherman's Wharf. The ambiance was excellent, our table afforded us a view of the Bay including both the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The food was good and reasonably priced for the area. The clam chowder is highly recommended!

Words cannot describe the awesomeness of food here. The most amazing oysters and the most scrumptious clam chowder I've had in the Bay Area. Don't miss this one.. You'll regret it

I fell into this tourist trap. Good wasn't bad, but it definitely was just generic. If I could rewind I would head down to the end of the pier for a better view and a better product for just a few dollars more

Let me kick start my short but incredible 1 month food experience of disparate and popular restaurants across 2 states- California and Nevada. We decided to catch the Caltrain to San Francisco(from Sunnyvale) about 8 am in the morning so that we could return by evening- the intention, to cover most of the popular tourist attractions which i sat the past few weeks chalking out.

`Fog Harbor` at The Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39

Ā Ā Let me kick start my short but incredible 1 month food experience of disparate and popular restaurants across 2 states- California and Nevada. We decided to catch the Caltrain to San Francisco(from Sunnyvale) about 8 am in the morning so that we could return by evening- the intention, to cover most of the popular tourist attractions which i sat the past few weeks chalking out.

Ā After our ferry ride to the Golden Gate Bridge, past Alcatraz Island and back; the extremely cold weather induced an enormous appetite in us. I never knew about Zomato back then; we decided to visit the restaurant with the highest inflow of customer(in plain sight) and checked-in to 'Fog Harbor'.

Ā Ā At the entrance one of the servers took our request for a table(for 2) and took down our mobile number- we would get a message when the table would be available(interesting, right?). Ā We had to wait a good 15-20 mins; meanwhile if we wanted to, we could go up to the bar counter and start with our drinks, which we did. While we were drinking, our server came to us and showed us to a table which had an almost panaromic view of the entire pier(see the picture). The interior decor was top-notch, i believe made of wood. Our server(sorry, im unable to recall her name) was extremely polite and courteous.

Ā She even told us about the award-winning `Clam Chowder`- this was a cream based broth which was beautifully served in a bowl-like-cup baked from bread.. Boy! It was delicious and heavy; i believe it had potatoes, clams(of course) and maybe onions.

Red Chili Garlic Shrimp with garlic bread(on the side) - Mind blowing.. orgasm for the taste buds, , spicy curry made of red chili paste, onions, pepper and garlic(says in the menu).. i was slurping my way through the entire curry.. Wow!

For main course we had, sort of a grilled sea-food platter which had Tuna, Salmon and Prawns served with boiled Broccoli and other veggies with mashed potato. It was good but i would have preferred it a little more spicy(after all, i am an Indian)..Ā

Ā Nonetheless an amazing sea-food experience clubbed with a trip to the Golden Gate Bridge, what more could i have asked for?

Food: Oysters were good. Crab cakes were delicious. All in all the food was great!
Service: Fast and accurate. Attentive but not so much to be a bother.
Atmosphere: Great dining experience. Elegant but comfortable.

Really yummy food. We got the raw tuna and avocado cake and it was delicious. The view out the window was amazing as we could see the golden gate behind us and the service was really good! Our food came out reasonably fast and overall we were very satisfied and had a great experience

After a week in San Francisco, eating street food, which is pretty amazing in itself, we decided to have one "good" dinner before we left. This was our choice, and it was AMAZING! I got the seafood feast and a shrimp cocktail. The view is spectacular too!

Ahi Tuna with mash potatoes and vegetables, 1/2 order of oysters, and the clam chowder bread bowl...Aaamazing! Pricey but we highly recommend.
Jeremiah Washburn
Eh. Nice view is all I can say. Food took over 40 min to arrive, fish was way over cooked, potatoes and veggies were cold, salad which we had ordered to come out first came with the main course, never gave us waters. Basically for the price, it was totally not worth it. Bar food quality with a high price. Would not go again.

Mussels were delicious. Service was excellent

In early April-2015 when I was in San Francisco, my first experience of the local clam chowder was Boudin on Market Street. I was fortunate not to have started with one that set the standard too high or low because it would have complicated my experience of all others. My second was Fog Harbor at Pier 39. This is a big and lovely beautifully maintained restaurant. I was dressed casually (and probably with "tourist" painted all over me) and underdressed for their fine dining establishment, but the hostess and server were still very friendly and helpful. Going in right at 10:30 AM when they opened, I was basically the first one in and had the run of the place. I highly recommend going early and having a relaxing, quiet, meal, upstairs and away from the throng belong. Also, you are guaranteed a window seat if you like beautiful water/harbour views. I was just there for the clam chowder and nothing else -- I had aimed to chowder my way down Fisherman's Wharf, or at least as much as my appetite would allow. Fog Harbor had an "award winning" chowder, or so their menu claimed. But when I asked my server, she had no clue. She did come back after asking the manager to convey that they won #2 place as the People's Choice. After my visit to San Francisco, I did some digging online and came up with the 2014 winners of theĀ Fisherman's Wharf clam chowder cookoff : People's Choice 1. Blue Mermaid Chowder House 2. Fog Harbor Fish House 3. Pier Market Judges' Choice 1. Blue Mermaid Chowder House 2. Pier Market 3. Lou's Fish Shack It was strange that throughout my trip I hadn't seen this chowder cookoff advertised more, especially by the winners. Clam Chowder ($8 bowl, no bread) Fog Harbor does make a really tasty clam chowder. Compared to Boudin 's, this is thicker, creamier, and felt richer. Price is also good at Pier 39 at just $8, though you will probably end up paying $10 after tax, tip, and employer mandate. The under-$7 price of Boudin on Market Street still can't be beat, bu

This was so much fun. Great views and fantastic service started what turned out to be the best lunch we have had so far. Crab was amazing. Drinks were great! I'd go again and again. Worth it!!!

Not as good as the reviews we read. We had the fried calamari and it was good. We also had the clam chowder in the sourdough bowl and it was just ok. Not being from the country and not knowing the wines we asked our server about their by the glass list and she couldn't tell us. Apparently she was under age and knew nothing of wines. I asked for a glenfiddick scotch and she ask me to spell it. LOL not her fault as she was young but on the other had a this price point the server should know her or his job. The decour was great a 4 out of 5. The food 2.5 out of 5 and the service a 1.5 out of 5.

So disappointing.... We were here last year, and had a really great experience... the food was great and our server was amazing. We were really looking forward to going back this year. I'm sad to say, after this past visit, we won't be going back. We ordered what we had last year. The Seafood Cioppino, ordered with pasta, and swordfish. The waiter literally dropped our food off by just saying the name of each dish and he was gone. He said my dish was salmon, and I could tell the fish was blackened. The swordfish is not blackened (and unfortunately I don't really like spicy food). I had to wait forever for him to come back so I could get my dish corrected. The Seafood Cioppino had no pasta at the bottom of it. When the waiter finally came back, I explained my order was incorrect, and when my spouse said there was no pasta in his cioppino, the waiter grabbed the spoon right out of my spouse's hand (didn't even ask), while say ing very snootily "It's at the bottom", and stirring my spouse's bowl to find it. "Oh, you're right here isn't any... let me bring some out for you". So a $30+ bowl of seafood, that's supposed to have pasta on the bottom... you're going to bring a side dish of pasta out to throw on top? Alright then. He brings out the side pasta, and also my fish. I laughed (after he walked away). My dish did have a decent amount of fingerling potatoes on it the first time, but this new dish literally had two pieces of potato, that were barely a bite each.

Incredibly ignorant server, so inept. I will not be back. If I wasn't so tired, I would have asked to speak to a manager.

Personable Sevice & Great Crab!. My BFF and I were seated at a window table (many of those!) and immediately greeted by our server who continued to evoke personal and attentive service. That early eve, our style was drinks and appetizers.
The crab salad was so good, I set aside a wee bit to finish my meal. Without being asked, our server split the salad serving in the kitchen. The calamari was so-so; I'd recommend passing on that, though its written description is enticing. Another winner: the mussels in a curry---our server's suggestion over the clams. Ask for more bread to dip the sauce!
So glad we chose Fog Harbor over Forbes (Rip-off & Rude) Island!

Stunning service. We had a gorgeous experience at our second visit to the fog harbour. The server was a Hawaiian fellow who was very eager to provide some tourist tips and to have some friendly banter.
The clam chowder was sublime, creamy, textural, and seasoned well. A true highlight as the menu suggests. We had the. Ran cakes and crab stuffed lobster for main which both rounded out a great meal. The lobster was cooked perfectly with the welcomed addition of crab to give two distinct flavours. The crab cakes were seasoned well, had a nice crunch to the shell and were a good size for the money. The location is a dream for an Aussie like
Myself with Alcatraz and golden gate in the background, providing a postcard like backdrop. In summary a strong performing meal with superb service has given me a second great experience from this restaurant.
Food 8/10 9/10 decor 7/10

Who knew?. Despite being in a tourist spot, this place is surprisingly good. Waiters are very good (and well dressed with uniforms and ties). Chowder is superb. Crab salad was great. Shrimp salad a little overloaded with rich dressing. The sourdough bread was spectacular.
Very good view by the windows.
I would eat there again.

Fish with a side of snotty. The food here was passable. The fish and chips are great. We came here twice on our visit to SF because after the first visit with the Fish and Chips, we thought we'd try something else. Big mistake. The waiter the first visit was ok, but when you informed him you didn't want to take his upsells or dessert he ignored you and got all snotty. Such is San Francisco! On the second visit, I ordered a whole crab while my sister ordered shrimp. Nowhere out of my mouth did the word "garlic" issue, yet when the food came I had a hacked up crab drowning in a half cup of chopped garlic and butter. It was NOT as good as it sounds. The delicate taste of the crab was lost in pungent raw garlic. $40 worth of garbage, and the waiter, like the first, snorted and ignored us when we said we didn't want another drink or dessert. This place should be called "Snob" Harbor, because the waiters are snobish snots. If you are up for Fish and Chips and willing to put up with a waiter who thinks he's king and you're at his command, then go for it. Otherwise go to someplace like Scomas and get excellent service and better food.

Cioppino was good, can't compare it to other places since this is my first time to have it.

After Alcatraz. Walked to Pier 39 after the Alcatraz tour, and decided to try Fog Harbor. Clam chowder,Seafood Cioppino, and crab cakes were all great. Better than expected for a touristy area.

Great location.clam chowder was good not great. My swordfish was dry and overdone. Service was good.

A truly enjoyable dining experience, pleasant appearance with stunning views of the bays attractions, fresh delicious food, every course was great in size, taste and appearance. The staff genuinely friendly, not the canned kind of friendliness. The service was quick and the price reflected value for money. I would definitely go back

Best seafood on Pier 39. We can't say enough about the experience at Fog Harbor ! Best clam chowder, fresh oysters, and the view was incredible ! This is a must have whenever we go to San Francisco ...

Get the red curry mussels. I was so pleased with our meal here! Sure, it was a bit more expensive than some of the other places you can get seafood at the Pier, but I wasn't complaining by the time I left. The food was incredible -- fresh and extremely well prepared. I recommend the red curry mussels for an app for sure! They might have been the highlight of the meal for me. The swordfish entree was also quite good. The service was the best I had in SF on my whole trip! The servers were very friendly, knowledgeable, outgoing and attentive.

I expected a tourist trap with a nice view and what I got was a really nice dinner and very friendly service. It was really crowded, so service was a little slow as a result. I ordered the oysters as my app and the Ahi tuna as my entre. I recommend this place.

Expensive and bustling but it creates an energetic ambiance. The staff is professional and the food was timely, fresh and a bit beyond the typical an most importantly, delicious!Ā I had chowder, the Pacific Sole and finished with apple struesel-- definitely pushed the limits of my stomach capacity but I had to!!
Karisa
Amazing!. My boyfriend and I stopped here for a glass of wine after going to the aquarium. We decided to get some appetizers at the bar which turned into our dinner. Everything was super fresh and yet very simple. We had the jumbo shrimp cocktail, tuna tartar, oysters, and dungeness crab. The view is also amazing here. I highly recommend!

Great food and prices weren't too bad. Also awesome views from the dining room

A little on the touristy side. I didn't realize when I selected Fog Harbor it was right smack dab in the middle of tourist central. Nonetheless the Fish and Chips was pretty tasty. I would give it a try during the week to avoid the crowds.

Excellent in every area! Great view of the bay. Will come back again.

A very nice restaurant on the wharf. We received an amuse-bouche of crabcake by reserving a table online. We both had salads. My wedge salad was a good portion with plenty of. bacon and bluE cheese crumbles. I had the fried combo. It was plentiful.

My first Cioppino. Yum.

Excellent ambiance and food. The Ahi Tuna is delicious. For dessert, the chocolate cake (aka. Pettite gateau)

Dissapointed..... $14 for a "shrimp" & crab sandwich... Pretty sad for a restaurant on the pier to serve Cup' O Noodle-sized shrimp.
The Canterbury Tail
Disappointed. After reading reviews we decided to go here while at Fishermans Wharf. Unfortunately we will not be returning. The salmon was overcooked (only slightly so that was acceptable.) The garlic mash had the gluey consistency one can only get from a packet mix, which I don't expect in a restaurant. For dessert the tables around us kept sending back the hot molten lava cake, as it was frozen in the middle, not once but consistently. I went for the chocolate banana pudding, which while it was nice had a peculiar issue. It was warm on the outside with the chocolate not melted, but on point around the middle was extremely hot, clear evidence of it having been microwaved, and poorly. Personally I think a microwave has no place in a professional kitchen.
As for the service, we had to ask for our drinks twice, and the server paid us no attention during the meal. Three times we had to tell him no coffees or cappuccino at the end of the meal. I managed to have one of my dinner plates stay with me through 2 table clearings by staff other than my server with no attempt to remove it.
So disappointed.

Great views, awesome chowder. Food is pricey but overall worth it. Our server was very attentive.

Very nice. Great view. Not unreasonable prices. Good service. Everyone was very friendly. I would come back.

Wonderful Setting Delicious Meal. We arrived before 6:30 on a Saturday and got a table for two with a fantastic view of the Wharf without a reservation. Clam chowder did not disappoint. Salads were well prepared and fresh. Our server, Amy was attentive and personable. Linguine with shrimp and crab were well concieved and tasty, right down to the vegetables in the mix. We topped everything off with a lava cake dessert. Prices are not cheap, but they are fair for an area that serves tourists.

Loved this place! Probably one of the best while in sf on business. Waiter was Pedro...he did a great job. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. Would definitely go back.

Tried the restaurant after reading the good reviews. Did not disappoint.
Jennifer
Awesome. Everything was perfect.

YUM. 1/2 Crab Linguini was amazing...great portion. Rich and perfectly prepared. LOVED this dish.
Ambience was romantic, great views and polite, professional service. Great experience.

Loved it. Had the clam chowder. I recommend it to everyone. Simply fantastic

Great restaurant. Beautiful views and great food. This is somewhere I'll definitely go again. The chowder is fantastic!

I totally had a tonguegasm. Long John Silver decided to commit seppuku after eating here and realizing the abomination unto seafood he had created.

Hard to beat.... Fabulous food - very fresh - exceptional value and great service. I'll be back!

Fantastic view! Enjoyed a good crabcake sandwich and my boyfriend had fish & chips which was also tasty. I would definitely eat here again. Good food for the price.

Not great service but fun location. So Fog Harbor is about what you would think. Not the greatest service and decent food but a really cool location. I am not overpassionate either way but I would go back so therefore must I like it more than dislike it.

Crappy service in the bar at happy hour. Place is empty and still had to ask twice just to get a server to table at all.

Ammonia crab. At first we were very impressed with the style and fashion of the dining room, and our curry mussels appetizer was very good, but then it began to get ugly.

My friend's wine glass was dirty and smudgy. They quickly replaced her glass... with another dirty glass!

Then we were about half way through our entrƩes when my friend noticed the crab tasted like ammonia. When she mentioned it, I stopped and realized I was tasting it too. I put the piece I had just cracked open to my nose and took a sniff. The ammonia smell was so strong, it burned my nostrils. So she began to google this on her iPhone, and found out this happens when the crab has died and begun to decay before cooking it. Apparently, you can actually smell this while you're cooking it too. which means they served us nasty dead crab and didn't care.

When we explained this to the manager, rather than listen, apologize, and rectify.. she just started into some bogus explanation and excuse. She did wind up taking the price of the food off, and charged us 50% for the rest of the meal, so we at least didn't have to fight about that.

This place is nothing but a tourist trap, a McDonald's put into a fancy room. Don't eat here. yuck!

I had the cioppino, and cleaned the bowl... Which was a healthy size. I paired it with a glass of Balvenie 15 yr doublewood single malt scotch, which was delicious!! My wife had the mahi mahi with wild rice and a nice glass of Sangiovese from Napa. The piece of mahi mahi was the biggest one I've ever seen served at a restaurant. It was cooked perfectly, and fell apart as soon as the fork touched it... It was fresh and delicious too. Service was great as well.

Great atmosphere, service, and food at a great price. We went twice while vacationing and were always seated faster than the estimated wait time. The wait staff was quick and attentive; although our service wad quick, we never felt rushed. I highly recommend the Fog House to anybody who wants great food, great service, and the view isn't bad either.

Customer. Not only is the food excellent but the service is top notch. The Manager came by our table twice to make sure we had everything we needed.

Garlic Bread yummie

We decided to check this restaurant out based on the reviews and were not disappointed! We had the raw oysters from Fanny Bay, the winter wedge salad and the blue wedge salads. We also tried the cup of clam chowder. Yum!!!! Everything waS fantastic and prices were reasonable. Would definitely recommend...especially since you can also enjoy the views and atmosphere!

The service was prompt and not too obtrusive. The sea bass and the Ahi Tuna were excellent. Large portions. Beautiful view

The clam chowder in a bread bowl was fantastic! I also had the wedge salad that was great also. Huge portions!

Good food in an intimate setting, I usually have a hard time with noisy restaurants but the Fog Harbor was quiet and was easy to hear a conversation without noise from other tables. Food was tasty and priced accordingly, not cheap but worth it for a restaurant of it's caliber especially for the FW area. I would return next time I'm in the bay area.

This is a seafood restaurant that served a very good filet mignon. Very nice view of the Golden Gate and great service. I will certainly return when I visit SF next time.

Great fish house on peir 39 with a wonderful view of Alcatraz. I had the shell fish platter; very tasty and swimming in butter (see picture). Another guest had the fried seafood platter and raved about the calamari. Best seafood to date this trip.

Great seafood dinner. We started with clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. It must be a local delight - good creamy clam flavor without skimping on the clams! Tuna 2 Ways was wonderful-mild seasoning to allowing you to enjoy the tuna. I had the Mixed Grill which was very good if you want to sample fresh fish. Shrimp was skewered & grilled, yet a little too salty with heavy bay seasoning. My husband had the Mixed Fried Seafood. Pretty good, but too much fried calamari. Don't get me wrong, it was wonderfully crisp. Just too much if you want dessert. We got the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. A delicious ending! :))

Fantastic food, great view! Had the mixed grill and chocolate lava cake. Waiter was a little impatient, but food came quick and was awesome!

Great location, okay food. View is amazing but food was just okay.service was lacking.

One of the recommended places to eat at Pier 39. Ā It was here that I had my very first clam chowder - slightly thick, creamy and flavoured with ham and potatoes - and fell in love. The seafood was also amazing. Ā At approximately $50 for the whole dish, we were bowled over by the variety and quality.

Growing hungry for something a little bit more substantial though, we paid a visit to Fog Harbor Fish House, a family-owned seafood restaurant well known at the Pier for great crab and great views.

EntrƩe choices include everything from wild salmon to whole Dungeness crab to fresh lobster, but my heart said fried shrimp with thin french fries and a tangy coleslaw with horseradish dressing. My husband bibbed up and dove into a massive seafood cioppino. Steaks and pastas are also options. Our drinks of choice were a yummy Alcatraz Escape cocktail for me (coconut and dark rums mixed with orange and pineapple juices and some grenadine) and

The fish was really tender with a great beer batter ā€“ just how we like it! The coleslaw had a unique horseradish flavor, but lacked the creamy tangy mayonnaise that is typical of most coleslaws. Not our favorite. Fries were typical. We also ordered the Fried Combo ($21.00) which includes fish, calamari, & shrimp, but I forgot to snap a picture. The shrimp were large and g

Scooter Simmons has always been passionate about the restaurant business. 35 years of working his way up the ranks from washing dishes and waiting tables has made him appreciate what people want from their dining experience. Fog Harbor Fish House opened in 2007 and has been giving the visitors of Pier 39 the perfect dining experience with beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. It is the first and only sustainable seafood restaurant on the pier. Simmons also owns the Pier Market, Wipeout Bar & Grill, and Biscoff Coffee Corner on Pier 39 which his family works and operates. Food brings the family together. Fog Harbor Fish House located on the 2nd level of Pier 39 with unobstructed views of the San Francisco Bay. You can even hear the barking of sea lions in the background. The interior reminds me of a yacht house with wood accents with a nautical feel. During the day, plenty of windows let in the natural light making the restaurant bright and vibrant, inviting you in with the scent of

Fog Harbor Fish House is an old school restaurant that retains not only the formal decor of bygone San Francisco, but the values of treating the customers well. The servers were dressed "formally" in white shirts and black pants, and very efficient.

The old school style of service and attention, the general ambiance and dinner menu suggested to me this is a tried and true formula thatā€™s been working here for a long time.
