Working as a musician in this town I get to play in a lot of different venues. Proud Mary's is one of the good ones. First thing is they support live music, which in this day and age is a unique and awesome reality from clubs using DJs. Having worked there several times with my best pals, Whitney Shay and Robin Henkel , I find the staff unbelievably friendly. It's nice to preform in a place where the bartender goes out of his way to say hi the minute you walk in the door. Always a great crowd, and in general a must visit place if you like southern food and good blues. Big thumbs up to Proud Mary's!

I think this place is great gathering spot for locals... a hidden gem that offers a tasty variety of Southern-style food (the award-winning chicken plate is yummy and I have leftovers the next day!) as well a some of the top regional blues-roots artists. It also has an artsy, funky-hip inviting atmosphere. The staff is friendly, people are smiling, eating, laughing, visiting, dancing, drinking and all-ages are even welcomed. I recommend it to friends. But make sure you call ahead and make a reservation. Table seating is sometimes limited.

Came here for the first time on a Wednesday night and it was electric! One of the best live blues jam sessions I've ever heard... and the food and drinks were just as great!

This place was awesome! Cajun and BBQ ! Both were authentic , the BBQ was actually very impressive. We went on a Thursday night which I highly suggest as the local Jazz radio station has the mic and the bands were amazing. Drinks were not terribly expensive, staff was great, food was really really good, but the music and atmosphere on a Wed took the cake. Would go back again and probably will even though I live in Ocean Beach. 10/10 would recommend again!!!

Cozy club in a Ramada, Kearny Mesa, off of the 163 at Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Some of San Diego's top music talent performs here, with s weekly event sponsored by Jazz 88.3 radio.

We went on a Friday for dinner. The place was packed for the musical entertainment. Our waiter informed us upfront that the kitchen was backed up with orders and that it would take a while. It did. It took a long time. We ordered the gumbo and red beans and rice. Both were excellent. Much love went into the cooking. Was impressed. I could tell the staff were very experienced. But it was too busy for drinks to get refreshed regularly. We ordered something we never got and were charged for it. But our waiter took care of it.

Nice place. I'm an introvert. It wasn't too big. It wasn't too crowded. I thought for a Saturday night there would be more people. I'm a picky eater so I tend to stick to plain foods. I had the catfish nuggets and fries which were scrumptious. They were seasoned very well. The band was good. I'll probably go back regularly for the food and to hear more bands.

Don't let the fact this restaurant/bar is located in a hotel keep you from coming to check it out. Absolutely outstanding music, and delicious, authentic 'Orleans inspired food wait for you here. The Wednesday night blues jam is one of the best showcases in town for live blues. It's always fun to see who will take the stage and jam with some of the local stand outs. The food is outstanding and the wait staff is always cheerful and attentive. Come on out and have some fun!

This is a very unassuming place to eat as if you didn't drive by and see the sign outside, you wouldn't know it was there. And that's a good thing as the food is excellent! I do tell my foody friends to come and try it out! I've been twice and it wasn't busy. The lights are dim and there's jazzy paintings and art all over the walls. Live music is played here but I've yet to come during that time. Since it isn't busy your food us cooked to order and it's well worth the wait! I promise everything that has been tried thus far has been great. Give thus place a try if you have the time, it's well worth it.

This place was awesome - I attended a Wednesday night blues jam session and the music and food were both great. Entertainment is free but they do take tips or donations to 88.3. Happy hour specials if you arrive before the show, through 7 PM
