First time at this location we usually go to the north park location. This location is way bigger, there’s an inside and outside patio to sit. It’s decorated beautifully and they even have corn hole outside. I love the way they did a “toddler cut” on my son’s pizza I’ve never seen that but a very nice touch I appreciate! My husband is from Chicago and this is his favorite SD spot from all the others. He says the other restaurants have zero chance compared to Lefty’s!!!!!
We finally got the opportunity to check this place. The pizza is great, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the quality. All food is tasty. The appetizers do need a little help as you will see in the pics. Food is great but they need to improve on the customer service… the staff is over relaxed, this is still a business an some level of professionalism has to be present. Don’t get me wrong they were not rude just very very relaxed. You will enjoy your lunch or dinner. Like always you have the last word.

I love Lefty’s Pizza for Chicago Style deep dish and stuffed pizzas. Went for lunch today and had a couple of slices of deep pepperoni and a soda for an economical price. They also have a slice, salad and drink lunch special.
Been coming to this location for years and have ordered mainly pizzas but occasionally also have ordered appetizers. Their artichoke spinach bread is amazing (and it’s veggies so it must be good for you, right?!?)
Their stuffed pizza takes much longer to bake but I love the sauce on that pie. Typically you cannot eat more than one or two slices of that so we normally only order stuffed if in a group of people. Ordering a whole pie always seems to taste better than the pizza by the slice for some reason but it could just be my imagination. :)
They are decorated with all things Chicago inside and have the typical wood seating you would see in a typical authentic Chicago pizzeria. They also have an outdoor seating area. Service is always friendly and efficient. You place your order at the register and they have food runners bring your food out to you. Parking can be a little challenging at times but there is a paid public lot down the street and paid meter street parking as well in the area.
Food here was delicious. Outside back patio was perfect for our large group with children. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Stuffed and deep dish pizzas are made to order so be prepared for a 30 min -1 hour wait time for those. Rest of our food came out at very reasonable intervals.
It was my second time having a Chicago deep dish pizza since the first time I had this from Santa Barbara I was always on the look out of this unforgettable flavor and luckily found one here in San Diego. No need for us to go to Chicago and Santa Barbara because we got it here in San Diego! It was an authentic Chicago deep dish pizza. To our amazement, IT WAS TRUE!! They even get their Italian sausage from Chicago! We had to order two take out and brought it to share with our friends and it was a HIT! Everyone is looking forward to check this place out and was dreaming about this 😅Very reasonably priced, especially for California! Give sometime to cook and it’s worth the wait!
Lefty’s is a fun hang out in Mission Hills that has a ton of options. They’ve got various salads, fries, sandwiches, pasta dishes, and pizzas. You can get deep-dish Chicago style pizza, or thinner NY-style pizza. They even have vegan cheese for those who are lactose intolerant or vegan. There’s a huge beer selection here too!
Lefty’s has plenty of seating, including a large outdoor patio. They have a hand washing station separate from the bathroom, which is handy and convenient. They also have pretty great live music on the weekends.
Ambiance is spectacular! Reminds of you of those cozy bars right next to the Wrigley field. Their deep dish is tasty and not as thick as the original one in a good way. The owner is a sweet and welcoming lady, they go above and beyond to ensure you have good time.
I’m from the Bay Area and decided to check this deep dish pizza in San Diego since I was on vacation. Wow, I never had a deep dish pizza this good in the Bay. The pizza slice itself is like 3 slices in one. I also tried their hot dog with the sesame seeds bun, delicious !
Haven't been to Lefty's in a while and was craving some deep dish pizza on a Saturday for dinner. There were a couple of vegetarian choices for deep dish and I sprung for the mushroom deep dish and a Midway thin crust - single slice option. Was very tasty and reminded me of the deep dish I had in Chicago. I was told that Monday is a good day to visit for the new specials. There was a lot of seating indoors and there was AC which felt great for a warm day.
Great pizza, their deep dish pizza is much lighter than the original Chicago deep-dish pizza, but it's much more delicious and better.
