Do you need tamales? Or do you want to make your own? Well, they have both here, the best masa for your tamales and a great variety of Mexican food, staff supper friendly, I just love this place!!

We have been coming to El Indio for 36 years. It is always perfect and delicious. Our family is from Utah and we fly down just to eat here. Never disappoints. We are customers for life!

El Indio has very authentic Mexican cuusine. But the star of the show is their Tamales!!! They make Chicken , Pork, Beef, Green Chili and occasionally Pineapple. The cafe, is nothing fancy but it does remind me of an eatery in Mexico. If you want casual and a great meal, El Indio is your place. It’s close to Old Town which isn’t too far from the San Diego Airport. You can also purchase frozen Tamales and steam them yourself. I do that every year instead of making them. They taste just like mine! This is the place my husband and I go to get our Mexican food fix. Try it because it’s the best Mexican food you’ll ever taste!

Oh, this was absolutely fantastic! After coming across a few positive online reviews, we decided to give it a try, and we're so happy we did. We ordered the #18, a tamale and taco combo. The cheese and chili tamale, smothered in Verde sauce, was truly outstanding. The taco was delicious, and the San Diego chicken burrito was a delight, though a bit on the creamy side for our personal taste. However, that's just our preference; you're likely to thoroughly enjoy it. The mordiditas caught our interest, and we couldn't resist trying them—bite-sized pieces of rolled tacos topped with nacho cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Yes, please! Don't hesitate to try all these delights, and maybe even take home some fresh tortillas or masa to make your own tamales. You won't be disappointed.

El Indio has been a family tradition on every San Diego vacation for longer than I’ve been alive. The taquitos (potato are best) are fantastic and worth the trip. The roasted salsa is also wonderful. If you get a drink, try the pina colada in the soda machine. So good. The atmosphere has also improved since they’ve added an outdoor “garden” area.

El Indio is one of the best taco shops in San Diego. I recommend getting the tequitos with cheese and quacamole and a carne asada burrito. If you like tamales, they have the best I have ever tasted. I used bring a couple dozen home for Christmas Eve. You can eat inside or outside. I moved to the Bay Area 18 years ago and missed this place so much. When I am in San Diego I always go back to get some of the mex on the planet.

Always the best for Mexican local fast food. The burritos are gigantic and the chimichangas are excellent. Sometimes parking is tough and I suggest as a take out restaurant.

One of the best Mexican Restaurants in San Diego. Everything is homemade and is incredible. I had the Carnitas Burrito and it was incredible. Definitely recommend!

Very authentic and mouthwatering Mexican cuisine. I will come here every time now when visiting from Germany. Ed, the new manager was very friendly and helpful.
