LOVE IT! This is my second time in San diego. Never been to an actual Italian restaurant either. but this place is amazing. we got the Lasagna, Nest, and Chicken Alfredo. Tasted delicious! live music was fantastic and the view/scenery is excellent. i would say it was a little hot inside and dark but we moved outside because it was more enjoyable.
Fabulous dinner. I love family-owned restaurants this one has been in business for over 30 years food was absolutely delicious and this waiter was so awesome best personality ever

In love with this spot! Best Italian food I've had in San Diego (and most of the US) They have a lovely patio, live music, super friendly service and the most delicious food!
We ordered the Bruschetta, Caprese salad, Tortelli Piacentina, Scampi alla Giulio, for drinks we had their house red (Avalon - Cabernet Sauvignon) and coffee at the end.
Price wise I also found it quite reasonable for the amount of food and portions served.
Definitely my favorite place in San Diego!
The best food , service and ambience, I had the best time and will 100% recommend this to anyone visiting San Diego.
The staff was so kind and friendly, plus we had so much food I can't even list it all (adding pictures instead!) There was live music and a beautiful patio. Can't wait to visit again :)
We visited Old Town for a conference and brought kids. We lived in Italy for four months. This restaurant was home.
We ate here twice in four days. The food was flavorful and well done. Our kids loved the buttered noodles. We ate the signature dishes and specials. Jose sang!!! What a magical and yet traditional place!
Awesome jazz band tonight on the patio under the almost full moon. Heaters over head, sparkly water, warm bread, Lemon Drop & fettuccine (another name for it) was the best!
I ordered the rolled pasta with ham, bacon, and meat sauce, and I loved it. My sister had the pasta with shrimp and pesto, and she said it was very good. However, my wife had the fettuccine Alfredo, and we all felt it was rather bland in flavor, essentially pasta with butter and cheese. Our waitress was friendly and courteous. I would recommend this restaurant for those looking for dishes made with fresh pasta.
Service and atmosphere were outstanding. We had one issue with a dish, but it was promptly replaced with a different one...outlined below.
In my opinion, the chicken piccata was not great. The chicken had absolutely zero sear so it was pretty bland. It was tender, but was also jusy had zero color and flavor. Almost like it was poached or boiled. Also, the mushrooms were very clearly from a jar or can.
That said, our server was quick to replace it with the spaghetti bolognese and it was much better.
Overall, we were pleased....the prices were reasonable and we'll be back.
PHENOMENAL! Held my Dad’s 90th birthday dinner here on 12/09/23 because he asked to “to be able to taste Giulio’s Veal Chop One more time”. A La Jolla native, he remembers going to the original in Pacific Beach in the 1950’s and said “I know Jack has kept up the food..let’s go there!” Well, Jack has “kept up” A Lot more than that! The private dining room was perfect, our servers INCREDIBLE and the FOOD! Veal chop—perfectly prepared! Bird’s Nest pasta—delicious! Chicken Marsala—fantastic! Everything was perfect and we are so grateful to Jack for all of his time and expertise in planning the event. Outstanding food, huge bar, great location! Thank you Jack and Giulio’s! We’ll be back of course!
Loved the food here. I came for the live Jazz on Thursdays making it an awesome experience. The chicken marsala and margaritas were excellent and so was the service.
