The food is great in comparison to diner food and the prices are fantastic. Service was awesome. I will warn you that this place gets busy.
Really enjoyed this place food was really good. The service was great. High five for this place 👍
This place is Great! The servers are Fun & Friendly. The atmosphere is movie themed based on the fact that it was built to feed the movie cast and crew that shot in the studio behind the diner. I had the Elvis Presley w/ Smuckers Breakfast Syrup, waffle fries w/ ketchup, Pepsi, & Chocolate Shake. My friend had a chicken salad & iced tea and the chicken in the salad was really good too. Appears you can’t go wrong here.
I’ve always loved this place but now they’ve refurbished things and it’s that much brighter and more fun! Special shout out to Jay our fabulous waitress and awesome Luis, the manager!
We had the Monte Cristo sandwich, the BLT, and the fish and chips. All were good and generous portions. My son didn’t care for the beer batter on the fish but the fish was good. The staff was helpful and attentive. Overall a good lunch experience.
This is our favorite breakfast spot in San Diego. The food is always fresh! The kiddos enjoy the pancakes that look like movie reels and the scenery. My husband loves the bottomless mimosas and I'm there for that and everything in between. Definitely tasty! We will be back soon. :-)
I stumbled upon this gem while trying to find a parking spot. I knew I had to get in there. The place is just beautiful. I was so hoping the food would be as great. I ordered their Club sandwich, and that was going to be all I ordered. However, I noticed they had Chili. Damm, my obsession with Chili. So I ordered a cup. Well the Chili was great, one of the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Sure I could argue mine is better, but I didn’t have to do all of the work. The Club sandwich was very, very good. It also was large enough for two people. I brought home the other half for her to enjoy. I haven’t tried any other dishes, but I’m definitely going to. Clean and great service, I’m going back to try more with my wife next week.

We went to the Studio Diner, and I got the San Deagan, a Bacon Cheeseburger with Jack cheese, Avocado Red Onions, Lettuce and Tomato, with a side of Onion Rings, the Onion Rings came out fresh, so those were really hot when we got them and were VERY good, the burger was okay, though I feel like it could have used Mayonnaise or something. The burger was juicy and tasted great!
The one thing I am kind of sore about is beyond the control of the restaurant, and that is the parking and seating situation. The place can EASILY seat I'd say maybe 50 people if not more, The parking however is limited, they also set a 2 hour limit per customer at the hosts discretion, which makes sense given the limited parking. But with the number of businesses in walking distance I figure the majority of their customers are folks on their break from work.
The fact this is across the street from Jack in the Box Corporate Headquarters also amuses me.
Update: 5/9/2023
I returned to Studio Diner for breakfast this morning, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash, eggs over easy, country potatoes, sourdough bread, and a half order of biscuits and gravy.
The Biscuits and gravy were good, it seems they either toast or pan-fry the biscuits before pouring the gravy on them which I liked, as the biscuits had a light crispiness to the outside. I was surprised to see the sausages for the gravy on top instead of in the gravy like most places do, but all in all it was good regardless.
The Corned Beef Hash was okay, I enjoyed it, but it looked and tasted much like the canned stuff you can get at the store. Which isn't to say it was bad, I enjoy it. But when I go to a restaurant I kind of figure most things on the menu would be made there. Though this is coming from someone with no experience in the restaurant business. So keep that in mind.
The Country potatoes were interesting, but I saved those for last, so those I needed to take home.
The one thing I will give them is the waitress regularly checked in on us and asked how we were doing, and that is something I will always appreciate.
The service was friendly and attentive. Food was really good. My husband loved the Monte Cristo!
Definitely go eat here.
They're delicious
The portions are great size
We ordered:
1-2-3 REEL breakfast : so freaking good
Country fried steaks : so freaking goooooood
Sampler appetizer (can't remember what it's called) : so so so so freaking good
We also got peach tea and pineapple juice 🤤🤤
Service was quick and friendly
Proce is fair and it's set up so freaking cute inside!
Service was good. Seating and decor felt like old school diners you see in the movies, which I enjoyed. Steak was underdone and was sent back, then overdone! Overdone steak tasted fine though. Liked the bottomless coffee. Free parking.
Loved this place, everything but the Bloody Mary it was probably the worst one I have ever had.
