Amazing ambiance, courteous staff, and unbelievably delicious food! My husband and I spent our meal in silence focused on our food, other than to occasionally utter our enjoyment with 'mmmms' and an intermittent 'oh god this is so good'. The surf n turf burrito was to die for! We're so glad we chose La Puerta!
It was delicious! The waiter was great as well. The wait to be seated was supposed to be 30-40 minutes and it was about 65, but they had the World Series game on so we figured people were dilly dallying more because of that. It was SO good, we decided it was still worth the wait!
We had nachos, a wet burrito, carne asada fries, and tacos (asada, carnitas, and grilled veggie). Also, the rajas de chile on the side were amazing!
One of the best Mexican restaurant in San Diego. We had veg quesadilla and veg tacos. Both were great. Also liked the salsas and chips. Margarita could have been better. Service and atmosphere were great. Happy hours is a good time to go if you wanna have early dinner.
Had the pastor 1lb burrito traditional and some chips and salsa. The waiter was great, quick to come up and take my order, refill water and salsa. Had football on and good atmosphere. Burrito was good almost reminded me of a fajita partially but was great and would eat again.
This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the downtown San Diego area. Great environment, the food is amazing and the drink selection is plentiful.
There’s always a great crowd, everyone is friendly, the staff are efficient and welcoming. The place is clean, safe, and the food portion size is more than most anyone could eat at one setting. The house made salsa is incredible, along with the tortilla chips. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, I visit this place every time I’m in San Diego.
Came to San Diego for the day, specifically to try this restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. The service was stellar. First, we ordered chicken soup and unfortunately it was lukewarm but our waiter was really accommodating and removed the charge. The signature carnitas and Pancakes was exceptional in taste and presentation. Also, it's really huge, couldn't even eat a fourth of it, but I will add that it traveled and ate well later. We also enjoyed the pastor quesadilla though I will say that there refried beans and rice were subpar and lacked any distinct flavor. I'll visit here often.
We went during happy hour. Their spicy margarita was really good. Complimentary Tortilla chips were freshly made and the salsa here is to die for. Also enjoyed the tacos and tostidas
I was in town for a concert out in Chula Vista and after I landed and got my car I stopped here for lunch based on very favorable reviews. I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar, and Robert took really good care of me. I had the three street taco combination and it was great. Highly recommended.
One of the best (if not) Mexican places in downtown San Diego! Such a wonderful atmosphere, amazing service and of course the food is the best! Tends to get crowded because the space is not that big. One of a few places downtown that also offers a reverse happy hour!
We came all the way from Toronto Canada to eat at La Peurta. I discovered it while I was in San Diego last year. I made sure to bring my girlfriend so she can taste American/Mexican food.
The carne asada fries are the best that I’ve had from any restaurant. The flavour is exactly what I remembered. Soft and tender beef on top of crispy fries, topped with premium salsa and sour cream. I’m drooling
And don’t forget to order margaritas. They don’t taste as strong as they are
The food is absolutely amazing ! Honestly though the best thing on the menu is their guacamole. Their homemade chips and fresh guacamole with pico is so refreshing !
Very good value for the quantity of food. The tacos were decent. We really liked the chips and salsa. The space is very open. Service was very good. I’d go back with friends. There is a bar here too.
