Sundried Tomato

We loved Sundried Tomato!!!! Food constantly good. Since new owners have taken over, food is dismal at best. Ordered to go Well done burger... Burger delivered RARE. Ordered side salad with NO hearts of palm and guess what?., Hearts of Palm all over my salad with a very watery green salad dressing. To say we do not love the new restaurant and will no longer frequent this mediocre at best restaurant. We did attempt to call and speak with the restaurant mgr who was n/a. Instead we had to speak with the mgr of the chefs which was another laugh because there was nothing he wanted to do or could do. He told me to call back Friday and speak with General mgr Jenny M. Duly noted and will do.

I have been to this location in San Clemente a few times for lunch, always enjoyed the meals. My Grandson always gets the child steak and was a decent size. I have to say I was extremely disappointed this evening as was our other guests. Our 1st time for dinner. We had reservations at 5:00. When arrived place was pretty empty . She seated us at a table that was right next to the servers station, not where you would want to sit, Thought a completely empty dinning room and they sit us here?? but we were seated no big deal. Our server was Brook. She came and took out drink order. We got that ok but waited and waited until we asked another server if she could get Brook to bring us some bread. My grandson was excited, as its his favorite. However, the bread was different, it was a seasoned bread and she stated they don't server the other bread anymore, needless to say my grandson could not eat it. There were 4 pieces. Eventually Brook came back to take our order. I ordered the Filet steak, my husband lamb chops, daughter a salad with Chicken and the child steak. A man served our meal. When he set the child steak plate down we could not believe our eyes. No joke or should I say what a JOKE, it was the size of a silver dollar if that. we were so surprised we asked if that was right? the man said thats it and the price went up as everything, it was $14.95. I would have been ashamed to serve such and call it a meal. My steak was tender thank god as I never got a steak knife but completely tasteless. My husbands lamb chops had a good flavor but about the size of my grandsons steak. My daughters salad was as expected but of course a smaller portion. Our server Brook, never once came back to our table to check on us for drinks (good thing we were not in the drinking mood) RIGHT!! there loss.....or for more bread for my husbands soup. The bread we were crazy about the bread anyway, loved the other bread. Should offer an option, not everyone can eat seasoned bread. The next time we saw brook was to give us our check. Never asked if we wanted dessert, already has our $140 check ready. I could maybe see if the place was busy, but we were the only guest in the dinning room up until 30 min later, they has a much more efficient server. Needless to say it was a very disappointing valentine's dinner. We had to take our grandson to in n out where he was able to get a meal, good value and a full stomach. Don't think we will be back.

This place has gone slightly down hill. This was once a favorite but the bar tenders seem preoccupied and forgetful. The food still tastes fine and the lobster omlet was very nice and they did not skimp on the lobster, but plating seemed almost school cafeteria like. Prices are $10 to $20 a plate on average.

We happen to find this restaurant on our way to the grocery store yesterday. Since we decided it wasn't wise to grocery shop on an empty stomach we took a detour and ended up at Sundried Tomato in San Clemente. The hostess was a very sweet young girl who seated us right way out on the gorgeous patio. Talk about lunch with a view. This place definitely has a great view! One of my favorite appetizers are Brussel Sprouts and I was excited to see it on their menu. We order the fish and chips as our main dish and it was really tasty. You never know what you will get when you order fish. The breading they used was really good. Topped our lunch off with a wonderful glass of wine. A Sangria would have been my choice but they have a nice wine selection. I give the Brussel Sprouts a 6 star!!! The fish got a 4.8 Star and the wine a 5 star rating.
