I was in BBQ, and soul food heaven. It was like a vacation on a Sunday. Congenial staff, incredible food in an eschalon above a standard brunch, beautiful presentation, fabulous band, great atmosphere and a price point that beats anything you could get for a meat plate in any other place.
Great atmosphere with awsome food. I highly recommend the brisket grilled cheese. Pretty damn good. The micheladas were awesome and on point. Just like Mexico.
One of our favorite brunch spots , great music , nice atmosphere which is family friendly and they have a playground . The mix of bbq and breakfast is perfect . They have some good biscuits and gravy and the omelet chef is the best .
I was there with my husband to have a drink. It's a cozy local bar with delicious food and live music. You get the Texas vibe. Their sitting arrangement is little different. They had wooden benches, and i liked that. They also had outdoors, but it was a cold night, so we sat inside and enjoyed their live music. I had spicy margaritas..which is my all-time favorite. And they didn't disappoint me. The people were friendly. I enjoyed the live music while eating the nachos and grilled cheese sandwich. The quantity was enough for two of us. The nachos were crispy and fresh with little avocado on top. Loved their food. The price was also reasonable. To get the Texan vibe, one must visit this bar.
Will definitely visit them again.
Best shrimp tacos I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was great. Brisket nachos are so flavorful. Staff is super friendly. Bartender was very attentive to customers. Drinks where really good. Manager on duty went around checking for quality and if customers need anything. I believe her name was Jen. Overall would recommend to friends and family. Such great customer service.
Great Sunday brunch! Highly recommended! Buffet style with chef Michael making omelets and waffles for you!

The Pigpen Neighborhood Bar by Smoke Shack is a local favorite for its affordable food, cheap liquor, and great vibes. The parking can be tricky, but it's worth the trek, especially on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
We ordered a variety of dishes, and the pretzels were the standout item. They were perfectly crispy and served with a sweet and spicy jam that was a revelation. The spinach wrap with chicken was less impressive, as it was mostly guacamole. The wings were good, with a hint of buffalo sauce, and the okra was crispy and flavorful. The nachos are always a hit, and the chicken and sliders were decent.
Our only complaint is that the food could use a bit more heat and smoke. However, it's hard to complain at the prices. We also tried the jalapeño poppers, shrimp taco, tea lemonade slushy with Deep Eddy vodka, and the pretzels.
The Pigpen also has a small playground and a great indoor and outdoor setup, making it a great place to go with kids or friends. It's in a great area, and the vibe is perfect for a warm Saturday afternoon in San Antonio.
I absolutely love the Pigpen!! Food is always great, the bartenders and servers are so nice, friendly, and helpful, and it’s always clean! If you’re ever looking to spice up a typical bar night, this is the place to go! It’s a laid back vibe with bench seating inside, so great for groups! They’re also right next to Smoke Shack so you can always eat there and then pop over for some drinks after! Also family friendly with a playground for kiddos. 10/10, I really love this place.
I absolutely love this place. There is always good music playing, and I get greeted as soon as I walk in. I also love that it’s kid friendly and the staff make my kid feel important too. We are always taken care of fast and we are never forgotten. All the staff is super friendly. Shout out to Tiff who who is always serving us with a smile!
It's been awhile since I've had good nachos. Nachos with brisket were amazing and at half price on Mondays you can't beat that. Need to come back for the brunch and music. 5 stars!!
Wonderful buffet. The brisket was fantastic! Great live music! A couple drinks from the bar to top it off. So glad I went.
The pig pen is a great place for people who want to bring their kids outdoors, guys who want to hang out and smoke cigars outside, a group to enjoy a full bar, and best of all is the attached restaurant in the back.
The menu at the restaurant includes a brisket grilled cheese, brisket nachos, cheeseburgers, shrimp tacos, fried shrimp po boys, and a lot of other great options.
We've been going here for years and having a great time. We're so glad they've reopened after COVID and will be back here a lot.
