I miss this place so much since I moved to SoCal. The Cornish is my favorite!
1st time there today. Never noticed it before (Just moved here a few years ago). I have not had a pasty in over 15 years. These are awesome. Are one there and got one to go! Yum!
This was excellent. Super nice people at the counter and the food is excellent excellent excellent don't forget to ask for the gravy. The coleslaw was really good also. They also sell pastries. I most definitely will come back. If you come in a car park in the back.
Cute joint with a lot of history. The pasty is decent size and is perfect for a small lunch or a snack between too people. Flaky exterior with a well filled interior. If you haven't had this place yet, it is worth checking out!
Cornish pasties originate from Cornwall in England, my homeland they are not from here in the USA. I lived in NV 8 years the gold state never saw one. These pasties are not 100 % the same, but they come in very close. I do agree with the person who says the meats abit big and chewy. Meat is a bit dry as well.
I have searched out British foods as I miss them. I would recommend this pasties shack, been there many times now and about to go again in a few days. It only sells pasties with a couple of sides. I give it 93% nearing the real pastie. Love it. Wish they did more British foods.
I used to go here years ago and loved it but I found the prices of increased a lot which of course everywhere has.
The pasties were not as good as I remembered of course I tried one that was non-traditional It was like a Mexican version I think that was a mistake in the future I will stick to the traditional meat potato type. Parking is a little bit tricky but after we ate we found out there was parking in the back. I accidentally left my metal ice water cup there and they kept it for me for over a week so I thought that was pretty good.
Went in for the pasties, not the atmosphere. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and kind. The pasties were just great.
Awesome spot serving traditional pasty of various kinds. If you don't know how to make them yourself this is a good place to get them. Plan on spending about $10 each or more.
Love this place! First discovered them via a local bar that buys their pasties here for their menu (this bar takes them to a yummy level). I have since gone into Pasty Shack several times and tried different flavors. Love their homemade taste - anytime I am craving a warm pot roast dinner, I stop in here and pick up a couple Cornish pasties for me and my love. Best way to eat them? I like mine served up with brown gravy, and salt and pepper buttered peas on the side - really takes the flavors to the next level
AMAZING!!! For starters we were greated at the door, explained the menu, given history on the "pasty", & history of this locally owned business. The customer service was above and beyond! I was blown away at the customer service, but when the gentleman brought the food the whole experience was put above 5 stars. The pastys are like nothing I have ever had...they are so full of flavor & so savory!!! If you like meat & potatoes at all then this is the place to try!!! I promise you will NOT be disappointed!!!
For what this place is, it's perfect. It's not fine dining by any stretch. The inside of the place is small, holding only four small tables. The pasties are amazing! The crust is unbelievably light and flakey. The filling is steamy and flavorful. I had a Bavarian pasty, which has ground beef, cabbage, and bell pepper. My companion had a vegan pasty, all vegetable filling. Whatever spices they use made both taste great. We each got the optional gravy, which is vegan. It's a British brand called Bisto. We also got a side of coleslaw, which was good (Solomon's Deli in Davis has the best coleslaw I've ever had, and this wasn't quite that good), and canned soda, Pellegrino. The service is extremely fast. You can grab a pasty and go for a quick meal. We decided to eat there, and were the only customers from about 12:30 - 1:00 on a Saturday. I sure hope they do more business on weekdays. Go if you can, because it would be a shame if a place this great went out if business!
Last minute stop around 20 minutes before closing, ordered 3 different pasties and I am astounded! Very tasty and savory. The last time I have eaten there was in the 1990's. It is nice to see the upgraded menu. Ill ve back!
