As always, the music, the gemuelkeit and especially the beer was great-but the food was not. My wurst was cold, the plate was a bit sloppy: the server did an excellent job but the kitchen needs work. Next time I’ll sticks to the giant pretzels and the Dunkle Brau.
Cool music and atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Lots of food for price. Was delicious. Would highly recommend.
The entertainment hands down is 5 stars! The German band and costumes are awesome. Great entertainment and environment with lots of seating.
But I would give the food 3 stars, this is why I have given an overall 4 star review. I had the jaeger schnitzel and my mom had the wiener schnitzel. Both are pounced breaded pieces of pork cutlet. The jaeger schnitzel has a mushroom sauce which I thought gave it more flavor. It was served with what tasted like dried up Mac and Cheese. The wiener schnitzel was plain and served with mustard potato salad. The portions are huge but a little pricy in my opinion. The soda tasted fresh and the potato pancakes were on point.
I will be back for dessert and the entertainment but not again for a meal.
I was shocked when I saw 3 stars overall. This place does deserve much more than that.
It was supposed to appear as authentic as possible, and they succeeded. You do feel like you're in something different, than a regular drinking establishment. Aside from all that brewery stuff, like huge metal cans, pipes etc., what really gives it this spirit are those 'oktoberfest-looking' benches and tables. On top of that, there is an authentic mid-european live music playing at all times... Those chimes really do make you feel like you're at German festival! Oh and of course, all the waiters, musicians and other crew members are dressed in German national outfits, which is a cherry on a cake!
I, personally, liked the food. First, you can have something other, then traditional American-style appetizers and main courses. Second, they were made really well, zero complains on quality or something. I think that's what you can come here for, after tons of beer, of course. Speaking of beer, I like that they serve it in huge 1L glasses, because once the place gets crowded, waiters won't have enough time to refill everyone that often; so it even makes sense from practicality perspective. Service was fine too, visiting this place last on Thursday night (when it wasn't really packed), our server did paid us quite a lot of attention, and everything was brought out fast enough.
I will definitely recommend to go through their list of a sides on the back of the menu, and substitute side fries with anything for whatever you get. Not that the fries are not good, its just you had them a million times before, try something else. For instance, I got the sauerkraut for my Currywurst and that was an outstanding combo. Moreover, it appeared to be big enough that I couldn't finish it (yes I had an appetizer before, but still).
Pro tip: Every first Thursday of a month they roll out a Keg of new seasonal beer, while their brewmaster is telling about it and ready to answer all your questions regarding brewing processes. Then, they open it up and everyone can give it a try for free, which is a nice touch. Since its January now, they've opened Schwartzbier yesterday, and I did like it. It tasted kinda like a stout, but with a structure of a lager; so it has more bubbles, and isn't that luscious.
Also, note that Hofbrauhaus is amazing for parties of like 6 and more. With a help of those long benches and tables, you can still be around each other and hear each other.
Pricewise it may be a little higher than average, but if you think about Rosemont as a place, where people from the City go, people from Suburbs go and people from airport go, it may start making some sense.
We spend about $85 before tips for two, and I find it quite fair in this case.
I've been to the Munich location, and this place is not as big but just as fun.
On our recent business trip in the area, we decided to come here for our group dinner. It was lively, and fun atmosphere. I like that they were able to accommodate our big group. Food was excellent, sausage platter was amazing. Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes tasted excellent. Service was average, he did missed a few things like offer water to some in our party. But overall a good experience.
