El Tenampa

We love this place. Great Tex-Mex flavors. Big extensive menu. Good drinks. Good service, everyone has always been very friendly with us. This place gets busy busy during peak dining hours. Good beans and rice builds a great base to everything else they make. California Burrito, Carnitas, Crispy Taco, Enchiladas, and Fajitas are all things we have tried. They serve a unique white dip along with chips and salsa, we love that too.

The first time I went the waiter was horrible, he didn’t check on us and screamed from the front door was we good. The employees was preoccupied with conversation and interacting with regulars like everything else wasn’t there. The food was okay. Rate 1/5 stars Update 01/2022: I recently went again. I've been to Mexican restaurants in New York, California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida - and let me tell you - if you are on i95 in North Carolina, stop by here!! It is definitely worth it. The refried beans are pork-free. The cheese is amazing. Everything here is unique and authentically made! I try to come here with my family whenever we drive from NY to FL. Can't wait to come back!

We were traveling through and everyone recommended Don Juan's for Mexican food. It was Monday and Don Juan's was closed, so we gave El Tenampa a try. Our fajitas and margaritas were great! Later in the week we tried Don Juan's and it didn't hold a candle to this place. For comparison the food at Don Juan's was bland and dry compared to El Tenampa and the margaritas tasted all wrong. I think Don Juan's was very commercial and felt like a chain compared to this place which feels like authentic family Mexican! We returned for another meal on our last night in town and it was again great!

This is an excellent place to. Eat when you are driving via i95 drop in to enjoy yummy tasty authentic mexican food.. We tried shrimp fajita and chicken friend chimichange and we should say were really some. Of. The best tasting fajithas we ever had.. The restaurant from outside might look a. Bit boring but the food inside is definitely worth the visit... A must try restaurant for. Mexican food lovers!!
